So as we may already know, Marathon will be PvEvP in the design of an extraction shooter, similar to Escape from Tarkov or Hunt: Showdown, which are niche games with niche player bases, but telling Destiny PvE players that Marathon’s “probably not the game for you” does not seem like a smart move, especially before the game has even entered closed alpha/open beta stages, especially given the nature of the game.
What are yall thinking??

1 ответBecause they're smart. If you're a Destiny PvE player Marathon is "probably not the game for you". For most... Solo, Duo, and Trio Skill Gap that can let loot progression go. The only thing that carries over are cosmetics. Destiny PvE players gripe over AI complexity and threats... the AI in Marathon is literally designed to grief the player. There's NO going invis or hold sword block until the payload reaches the forcefield... Spam invis, emote into architecture hiding the acquisition hitbox for targeting aggro. There's no yeeting Crota off the cliff in a master raid. So, let's Recap: 1. A wipe every 3-6months 2. No Cheese 3. The enemies are hard - a Taken Vandal Overload Champ with a Scorn Crossbow, Void hive Lightbearer grenades and melees, invisibility, & complex immunities that will hide from you. That will stalk you & chase you down if you try and ignore them. And it's a hardcore experience, die... lose what you HAVEN'T EARNED... in progress. LOSE what you HAVE EARNED previously and brought with you... in progress. That's why Marathon isn't for 98-99% of Destiny PvE players.

That they needed to set expectations. The last thing Marathon needs is a lot of resentful, disgruntled Destiny player review bombing the game.

It wouldn’t be a smart move to have their 2 live service games directly compete with each other. They’re different games for different audiences (although of course there’ll be some overlap). I don’t see a problem with their communication on that.
-
It’s a neutral move. PvE players that give it a shot were likely going to be disappointed anyways. It’s not the game’s target audience. Warning them ahead of time and being truthful isn’t a bad thing as it avoids unwanted negative press when the game does release coming from PvE players that didn’t know what they were getting into. It’s PvP…vE. The bots are a factor and a force in the game but the main confrontation will be PvP focused.

There are so many complaints when pve players have to do something in pvp and so many hate gambit so there giving a heads up. Also people can't even delete there old junk that's been in there vault that they probably never fired ONCE and with Marathon you lose all you guns every few months and also if you die and don't extract you lose stuff. So them saying hey this game might not be for you is a good warning

I'm not here to defend Bungie, but telling you ahead of time that "hey, this might not be for you" so that you can make an informed decision ahead of time seems like the right call.

Thats just 1 of 3 things imo: 1. Trauma from feedback in destiny 2 2. Marketing - make it look rough.. bad.. tough.. emphasize PVP 3. Please please don't leave Destiny 2 for this (except PVPrs.. except that the game cannot deliver PVP in the same way as d2 at all) -

1 ответI may have my understanding of Marathon and extraction shooters a little off….but why on God’s green earth would I want to play something where all my loot and hard work could be lost because another player killed me????
