The playerbase is collapsing…
Do bungie want to put the work in to save the game??
The core playlists and the way progression is structured is the biggest problem…
Unless they get significant reworks with creative enjoyable ideas lightfall will be a band aid fix
Feels sad to see the game fail like this…

All games reach end of life. Although not many games had such a dedicated player base as Destiny did, but it seems Bungie took it for granted. People will only take so much recycling, sunsetting, and grinding the same activities ad nauseam for so long. People are realizing how little effort is being put into the game and they are questioning whether they will spend money on it any longer, especially many of us -blam!- how engaged the development team was years ago.

Current Steam - 29,724 Warmind.io current PC percentage - 53% Total current player population on all platforms- 56,000 It's not peak time and I'm not trying to make a point, other than it's possible to say within 2 significant figures how many people are playing the game at any time. Steam data is not meaningless if you pair it with Warmind. If you really want to figure out how many people are still playing try to catch the daily peak right after the season/expansion launches. That still won't be right, but it's the closest any of us are ever getting unless Bungie posts that information directly. Destiny tracker is total garbage, I wonder sometimes if they didn't break it on purpose to appease Bungie after they spread "false narratives" when they used to keep a graph of the player counts. Side note, if you trend the data on a six month rolling average to smooth things out a bit the player base is not dying. But, on the other hand, they are working on a new all time monthly low. Give it a few months and if it's still trending that way I'll agree the player base is dying off. It's an 8 year old game that really hasn't changed much in the last few, I wouldn't be surprised if they've exhausted their pools of new FTP players and it really is starting to trend down again.

7 отв.Its actually quite funny how we're in season 18 and people are STILL whining about player numbers being down as if it's some new occurrence 😂 guess everyone just forgot that it's the end of the season....at the end of the year.....with multiple new games coming out that people have been looking forward to for literally years
-
Is it getting that low? I’m assuming that’s on one platform? Aside from the typical season end, that’s still pretty bad.

16 отв.Counting one platform is useless and meaningless.

This was predicted months ago when they decided to add in a bunch of terrible sandbox decisions into the PvP player base. Add in the fact that PvE in this game is stale, repetitive with zero loot that really matters and this is what you get. Several of us said this months ago and were basically just told "suck it sweat, game just got 10x for the crappy player etc..." or whatever nonsense was used to support the terrible decision. Fast forward to now and the game is in an absolutely terrible spot, with horrible player numbers, and hope in the future is at an all time low. It's maggiccccccccccc

The player base is collapsing because new free players never stay and vets are sick of paying for the same things we had a year ago, not enough new, Bungie has rested on their laurels and recycled content and similar formula, no real change and poor pvp decision making. Destiny is a game release any good game release away from collapse.

Изменено (DHawk12): 11/29/2022 4:32:44 AMNothing will change. The bare minimum will be done until the game ends with “the final shape” then Matter will release and Destiny will be truly dead. If pvp is still terrible next season and bungie doesn’t announce enough good changes for it in season 20 then I’ll cancel my lightfall preorder and be done with destiny.

Most people are sick of the aim assist simulator with no maps, no balance, no rewards and you are penalized for jumping/sliding in a games that's entire selling point was the movment n gun play lol.
-
It’s pretty dead on Xbox. Mostly because there’s nothing to do and the season is about over. It’s mostly those who are season lvl 800+ who keep playing because it’s the only game they can afford. Once the new season drops, it will populate back.

1 ответWhen seasons end early and there's nothing to do player base always drops off. Talk about the player base next week when a new season starts...

I have always been one that never hated the game enough to quit. I've taken breaks during content drought etc but I played consistently even during that -blam!- d2 vanilla year. This year I took my first hiatus from the game in 4 years. And honestly it's not about any of the issues I hear getting floated around like AE or matchmaking or connections. The content is just in a big drought for me and the seasonal model has become exhausting and Bland. This is a very weak season and I don't have fun doing the seasonal activities. The game feels like a shell right now to me
-
Haven’t played like I usually do in weeks. I’ll hit it hard again when Lightfall drops. That’s usually how it goes. It seems extra bad because the seasonal model is real annoying
-
The game engine is a huge part of the issue. Maybe if they upgraded that and added dedicated servers for just PvP modes, the game would be much better.
-
My time isn't valued here. As a long term player, drop rates favor new or casual players for rare stuff. My armor gets bugged and never we fixed. Hard core content is bugged and unfun. And the seals and triumphs are made even more grindy because some players will push to get them done fast.

2 отв.You know they don't or won't. S19 will be as bad as the previous two if not worse. There will be a crappy holiday event with another reskin and people will eat it up. Or, people will bash it up. There will be countless bugs and forced meta changes that no one wants to deal with. Game is washed up really. Only a complete overhaul will save it. But, when you got the game on autopilot to destination dumpster what do you expect.

2 отв.There are still enough people spending money at Eververse and preordering $hitefall to keep the money flooding in. This game is doing all they want it to, which is fund the other projects they actually care about.

I feel like at this point Bungie should take away one season per year and take that development time to focus on the core playlists/base game. AKA, make new Crucible maps, game modes, revamp private matches, make new strikes, change up old ones, introduce competitive strike scoring, add new modifiers, add new strike specific loot to the Vanguard playlist, etc I think that would be much more worth it than continuing to make cookie cutter seasons that die after the season is over. And actually try to produce a community event that's worth playing, or you know, give us a secret mission every once in a while.

6 отв.Hey Guardian. Those numbers, which I suppose come from Steam chart or some other third party website, aren't meaningful at all =/ expecially at the end of a not particulary enjoyable Season and in a period like this in which we had other great games coming out. There's nothing to be worried about. Yes, Season 18 has been a bad Season, this doesn't mean D2 is dying, collapsing or failing. There's no need to dramaticize so much =/ Many players took a break for playing other stuff (GoWR, CoD ecc) or recover from burn out, which is something already happened in the past in other similar periods. Nothing we haven't experieced aready.

2 отв.Meanwhile Halo Infinite has like 4K and came out 5 years later, lol. As bad as it's gotten, I'd kill to have Bungie make Halo again. :(
