Speaking as someone who has over 6000 hours invested in Destiny, and who has maxed out three guardians every single season, it is well-past time to get rid of the pinnacle grind. Week after week of dupes from the awful, RNG-based loot system, and weeks in which I bust my butt to do every possible activity and make zero progress due to endless dupes, I am at the point where the pinnacle grind is sucking the life out of my enjoyment of Destiny.
The time has come to get rid of the pinnacle grind and put XP-based leveling on the seasonal artifact instead. That way we would always be rewarded for our effort and never be held back by the RNG loot system.
I still play Destiny, but to be honest, I am no longer having as much fun due to season after season after season in which my progress is totally dependent on blind luck. Please change this, Bungie. Make Destiny fun again.
Note: I just got the exact same gun from three straight pinnacle drops on my hunter. The odds of this are astronomical, and this makes me believe the RNG is not totally random, which is a polite way of saying the RNG loot system is probably rigged.

7 отв.RNG was never random. It's always been rigged.

Be patient

The pinnacle grind is indeed rigged, and it has become worse over time. A couple seasons ago I used to hit the hard cap by mid season. Now it takes me until the end of the season to reach the hard cap. It has gotten to the point where I no longer play many activities partly because I know that I will just get duplicates.

5 отв.Actually there is NO progress, you spend nearly an entire season to get back to where you were when the last season ended. Think on that awhile.
-
1 ответWithout the grind you would quickly realise bungie have sold you 4 seasonal activities, 1-2 areas a new raid and a revamped one for the price of 2 brand new games every year, a game like elden ring is like 6 times the size of the entire destiny series for the price of 1 expansion.,

1 ответIf you were doing dungeons and raids it wouldn't even be a grind.

2 отв.Hello mate. It’s sounds to me that you need to take a break. If you feel like you’re wasting your time then this video game is not serving its primary functions of providing escapism and entertainment. There are more ways than ever to get Pinnacles and grinding for them on an RNG system is what Destiny has always been about in one form or another. I’m not trying to be a troll. Truly, take 2 weeks off and see how you feel. Take longer if you need to. I took a break for about 8 months as I was fatigued with the game. I’ve been back since end of Season of The Splicer and thoroughly enjoying my time again. Hope you figure it out my guy

4 отв.Изменено (Demon_XXVII): 8/30/2022 6:20:43 AMI ain’t got time to grind the extended (and oh you can bet your life it will be if Bungie change the system) XP grind for pinnacle loot How about putting some of the activities to use by actually tying targeted pinnacle drops to them on a daily & weekly rotation Example Anywhere there’s pinnacle rewards (or pinnacle reward sections in Dungeons/Raids etc) Two choices of engrams 1x Weapon 1x Armour Choose 1 per pinnacle drop (anything can be in them) But at least it cuts down the RNG options And maybe in the named core weekly pinnacles, a slot pinnacle Example, (let’s choose Week 2) daily fixed rotation (Tuesday reset/Wednesday reset etc) Vanguard weekly (3 playlist/modifier) pinnacle = +1 Boots (Tuesday) +1 Arms (Wednesday) etc Gambit weekly pinnacle = +1 Class (Tuesday) +1 Chest (Wednesday Crucible weekly pinnacle = +1 Kinetic (Tuesday) Etc etc Allows folk to look at the weekly calendar See the gear they’re missing to climb to the next power tier Go get that missing piece - then carry on with the rest of the weeks Knowing that they can plan ahead, do specific things to advance & even expand on this by putting special events with 65+ targeted & focused pieces of Exotic armour (lost sectors, max 5 runs to stop farming) Personally, I haven’t seen a Dragon’s Shadow since 2018 drop! (Regardless of “chest armour” dropping on marked days Anyone want a Coyote/Gwisin/Raiju ? 🤬😣😄

It wood be best to go back to the original leveling system level up to level 50 or 40 then level up to 1 Max level say 9999 or 1k even and then keep your level after you get it to maximum on Power and light level the problem with the system we have is you level up then have your level taken back down so leveling never ends all games have leveling bot you get to keep your level and level has a end to it the second problem with the d2 leveling system is its not fun its just buntes and ginding no more dcv will help but we need change
-
raise your hand if you liked the prime engram system better
-
It’s pretty redundant at this point. Very little activities require pinnacle power and even GMs just cap you regardless of your level so there’s little point

15 отв.If you don't want to do the Pinnacle Grind each season, don't do it, it's really that simple. The vast majority of the game does not require gaining Pinnacle power levels (including endgame content like the raid), and if you want to do those activities later in the season, you are probably playing often enough where you will naturally get to the level you need to without effort.
The time has come to get rid of the pinnacle grind and put XP-based leveling on the seasonal artifact instead.
You do realize this system is already in the game, right? You gain Artifact Levels each season by gaining XP. Not only are you able to easily get +10 power levels through the artifact, but you can gain even more based on how much you play.
Make Destiny fun again.
You can make it fun by playing what you want to play, you don't need to grind out power levels if you don't want to.

This was among the MANY reasons I quit Destiny two years ago. I got an email the other day basically saying "Free expansions and free high-level gear" so I logged back on to see if anything had changed in all that time. Sure, there are a few "quality of life" improvements. Shaders are no longer consumable nor do they cost anything to apply any more; masterworking weapons seems to be a tad bit less material-intensive; dumping a few thousand glimmer unlocks every grenade type for every subclass; subclasses are back to where they were in D1 with being able to "fine tune" perks to fit your playing style; they've even added the means to turn previously collected armor into "universal ornaments" so we can keep the styles we like without sacrificing performance. And yet there are far too many things, such as the pinnacle treadmill you mention here, that have not changed at all. "Seasons" and "expansions" are still ridiculously expensive for how damned little they offer. Server connection stability is insultingly horrible. Infusion to keep our preferred weapons/armor in top form is still obscenely costly forcing players "on the grind" to use mish-mashed loadouts they don't dare invest in because as soon as they do something with a higher power level will drop and they'll have to scrap what they were using. Eververse is still, well, Eververse; an unholy cash cow that demands sacrificing your firstborn to get anything out of it. All in all when the "Free expansion" trial period ends I will most likely be putting Destiny back in mothballs and forget all about it. Which is a real shame because this game had so much potential and Bungie seems hell-bent on making every possible brain-dead development decision to ensure it will NEVER reach even half of it.

Just do what I do, and don't do it. Playing a season without caring about level has taken a lot of weight off my shoulders
-
I stopped the pinnacle grind along time ago lol haven’t been max light since the last season of beyond light

Destiniys "RNG" has nothing to do with "probability". You can tell by the simple observation that characters that haven't been played for quite an amount of times usually get flooded with exotics and god rolls. Okay, not so sure about the God Rolls, but I am 100% sure about the exotics. Makes perfectly sense from Bungies side. They need to slow down people that play the game more often than casuals. They never have and won't ever honor the time you put into the game. You just got to live with that.

6000 hours? Them's rookie numbers, son. But I agree, leveling blows, yahhh!
-
Nothing but helmets 😤
-
This is the exact reason I only grind 1 character now
-
I love spending an hour of my life to get a +1 drop. Or even better no pinnacle drop at all. I haven’t ran a GM in 2+ seasons now because getting high enough on the light level is too much of a grind for someone that only plays 10 hours a week (give or take). Literally being locked out of content simply because I don’t play enough - can’t level my artifact enough.
-
Agree. D2 at this point has a large amount of content and things to do. And I would love to jump back into the game but I can’t because I first have to increase my arbitrary number to access activities.
-
Agree, as a player in the same boat since launch, the is no longer fun....

I’ve had the EXACT same item drop 3-4 times in a row when grinding pinnacles… and this has happened on multiple occasions. To your point, the chances of this happening are extremely rare. Like you, I also believe that the RNG is manipulated in some capacity. It extends play-time and keeps certain activities/content relevant. Players should level just by playing the game. Obviously, there should be a correlation between the difficulty of the activity and how quickly/efficiently you level. In other words, you’d level quicker by running end game activities like raids, dungeons, IB, trials, etc. But anything and everything should still contribute to you leveling your character.

100% agree.
