Couple more lore questions

1). Who gets to become a guardian/ why does a ghost choose who it chooses? 2). Are guardians allowed to have romantic relationships? 3). Can guardians breed or are they sterile? (2 Question from a friend that I can’t explain): A). If a darkness zone results in your permanent death because the light is supresssed, can your corpse be dragged into a place of light and revived there? B). Why couldn’t the guardians that died in the red war be revived after the war if their ghosts weren’t killed? 4). Are ammo packs from enemies canon? And if so how do they work? Elaborate please 5). How are we able to carry 3 weapons at a time? Wouldn’t a guardian most likely only carry 2 at a time at most? 6). If the awoken are naturally immortal, are they only immortal in their original world? If not, are earth born awoken that are descendants from generations of breeding, are they immortal? And if all are immortal no matter what, at what age does their body stop aging

  •
1). Who gets to become a guardian/ why does a ghost choose who it chooses?
It's an unknown algorithm, but the ghost basically searches until it finds the "right" one and revives them.
2). Are guardians allowed to have romantic relationships?
Why not? What is stopping us? There have been quite a few...
3). Can guardians breed or are they sterile?
Guardians themselves can do whatever they so desire, but we have zero confirmed born babies from guardians.
(2 Question from a friend that I can’t explain): A). If a darkness zone results in your permanent death because the light is supresssed, can your corpse be dragged into a place of light and revived there?
Yes. Few exceptions like devour bullets and a few other loopholes, but guardians who die in a realm of darkness need to be collected/dragged and then brought back either by another guardian or a ghost. The overall effort is not necessary though as a ghost can bring a guardian back as long as they get away.
B). Why couldn’t the guardians that died in the red war be revived after the war if their ghosts weren’t killed?
Our revival is tied to the Traveler and by extension its ghosts. Suppressing that suppresses everything for us. We basically didn't protect it well enough when the Cabal attacked.
4). Are ammo packs from enemies canon? And if so how do they work? Elaborate please
Our guns kill the enemy and our light from the bullet essentially reforms to be reused. It is not guaranteed to be the correct type though.
5). How are we able to carry 3 weapons at a time? Wouldn’t a guardian most likely only carry 2 at a time at most?
Notice how you have lightweight, etc. frames and you do move slower when carrying an lmg as opposed to an smg?
6). If the awoken are naturally immortal, are they only immortal in their original world? If not, are earth born awoken that are descendants from generations of breeding, are they immortal? And if all are immortal no matter what, at what age does their body stop aging
No awoken is NATURALLY immortal.

    A) in lore probably not the light spud lbe town from your body so no revive B) they had no light in them to be tapped by their ghost 4) ammo packs probably not we see in the lore that guardians often run out of ammo fighting 5)we can transmit stuff on and off our person 6) they seem to be immortal in our world but it is likely they are only immortal in their world and just are extremely long lived in ours
1). Who gets to become a guardian/ why does a ghost choose who it chooses?
The Traveler chooses who becomes a Guardian. Ghosts don’t know the criteria and neither do we.
2). Are guardians allowed to have romantic relationships?
It’s never been addressed in lore, but it seems that they are allowed. Shun Li actively tries to date Ikora Rey, and Ikora never brought up any rules against it.
3). Can guardians breed or are they sterile?
We don’t know if they are sterile. But if they aren’t sterile, we do know that the children of Lightbearers don’t get the Light passed down. They’d have to be chosen by the Traveler and die just like everyone else.
A). If a darkness zone results in your permanent death because the light is supresssed, can your corpse be dragged into a place of light and revived there?
This has never been spoken of in lore. But lore suggests that if you die in a Darkness Zone your Light is drained. And when you lose your Light you are permanently dead, no getting it back.
B). Why couldn’t the guardians that died in the red war be revived after the war if their ghosts weren’t killed?
This has never been addressed. We don’t know if Ghosts were able to revive their Guardians that died in the Red War. But it most likely follows the same logic as everything else: you died without your Light and the Light doesn’t come back to your corpse.
4). Are ammo packs from enemies canon? And if so how do they work? Elaborate please
Never explained, but ammo packs are canon. Ammo packs are programmable matter tech -similar to Glimmer, but specifically for ammunition. The problem is Hive weapons are powered by arcana (and Taken weapons are also not normal), Vex weapons are powered by external power sources, Fallen use Arc batteries mostly, and Cabal would carry their own ammo (but they mostly use microrockets). So it doesn’t make sense that our enemies would carry ammo packs (except maybe Fallen because they scavenge and might be able to use ammo packs, or possibly even Cabal if they use that tech)
5). How are we able to carry 3 weapons at a time? Wouldn’t a guardian most likely only carry 2 at a time at most?
The Inventory. What many people refer to as our “backpack.” The Inventory is another piece of matter encryption tech, exactly like the Vault in the Tower. Objects and matter are turned into code and stored. The Vault is a large stationary system, but the Inventory is a smaller system linked to our armor so we carry everything with us. This is what we do with our Sparrow, extra armor and weapons, and other items: reduce them to code and store them in our suit. That’s how we carry so many weapons.
6). If the awoken are naturally immortal, are they only immortal in their original world? If not, are earth born awoken that are descendants from generations of breeding, are they immortal? And if all are immortal no matter what, at what age does their body stop aging
Within the Distributary the Awoken didn’t age. But they could be killed. It seems there was a point where their bodies stopped aging. Children’s bodies grew until adulthood and adults kept youthful bodies. The Awoken that left the Distributary still live a long time, but will eventually die of age. As far as we know Earthborn Awoken are the same. We don’t know what effect breeding with humans had.

  • Question 5: I’d say that the 3rd weapon is in our ‘backpack’ just as Ghost, our ammo and our sparrow.

  • 1) ghosts in theory could rez anyone, but acording to a few lore pages they are directed by the travler on who they are to rez 2)a few have, can't remember to much about it but apparently ikora had one, and eriana had one 3) no clue
(you should ask shadowheartmc)
4) we really don't know but in the last page of a man with no name felwinter asks his ghost to prepare his iron banner arsenal so perhaps our ghosts transmat them to us 5) we stronk 6) from what I can remember awoken are only truly immortal in the distributary, but age very slowly outside there home world fq1) not all darkness zones are because the light can't find it's way there, fallen darkness zones could be created because it's to dangerous due to snipers but if it is a hive or a taken darkness zone it is posable that you could bring the corpse and ghost outside it and rez them there fq2) I don't know but there ghosts might have died, or have been unbound from there chosen after they died

    • <1. People the Traveler deems worthy. Those people usually have done acts of bravery, devotion, and sacrifice. Ghosts have a specific Light frequency, and they seek out their partner, who will have the same frequency. 2. Probably. 3. Probably, we are fully brought back, after all. 4. No. We just get ammo transmatted in, I assume. That being said, I think Glimmer can turn into ammo, but don't quote me on that. 5. Heavy lifting. 6. They are immortal in the Distributary, but outside they can age. That being said, Awoken aging seems to be a very slow process. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, it's been a while since I read the Marasenna. Ancillary 1. Probably not. 2. Did we ever actually get confirmation on Guardianless Ghosts or Ghostless Guardians after the Red War? I would like to know because I, too, am interested.>

And if all are immortal no matter what, at what age does their body stop aging
1) the ghost must feel some kind of bond. They have a specific link with their guardian; “the right one”. However this doesn’t always end up being the case. Shin was resurrected as a child and Yor’s ghost ended up leaving him after he told it to. 2) yes. Ana Bray is a prime example. As are Wei Ning and Eriana-3. 3) likely. However there are so many things that need to be considered about whether they can and even should. Note that if they can, the child isn’t a Lightbearer. FQ1) never been attempted/unsure. FQ2) it’s likely a case that they were. 4) this is a gameplay mechanic as far as we know. Lore doesn’t explain everything. 5) refer to previous answer. 6) when the Traveler arrived in Sol and interacted with Humanity, it tripled the lifespan at the time (which means human lifespan should now go beyond 200yrs) but because of natural selection and evolution, it’s probably naturally increased since then. The Awoken themselves are not immortal. They just live for a very very very long time. If they were immortal, they wouldn’t be able to die, which we know they can. As for the body aging, I’d say yes as shown by Zavala and Tyra Karn and even the techeuns. Zavala has an older face and Tyra and the Techeuns have slight hunches. It’s possible some stuff I’ve said is incorrect; but from memory those are what I can answer. I’m sure someone else will correct me with sources.
