I was not going to comment but frustration has got to me.
I am a below average player and apart from when working overseas have participated in most IB event since D1 and managed to get the bounties done, get the kit I needed on all three characters and most of all enjoyed playing - not this time.
Hunter
Session 1 games balanced score shared amongst players on both teams. Lead switched backwards and forwards to the end of the games as players decided to be heroes or played defensively. Got half the quest done. Very optimistic that not going to be as bad as I thought , so wrong.
Session 2 total Cluster F with stacked teams and mismatched teams mercy was the name of the game
Session 3 mixed bag good and bad
Session 4 (short) back to balanced games, finished most of bounties switched characters.
Titan
Total Cluster F stacked teams and mismatched players mercied game after game. The Matchmaking was that bad started one match with stacked team(6) all with gear nearly maxed out against FOUR randoms, result obvious, a couple of people were ported in and they must have wondered WTF is happening. Not sure if will bother finishing Titan. Certainly not going to bother with 3rd character
Bungie who ever leads the matching team should be given a rest and have some fresh eyes look at MM. You really should be ashamed letting it be what it is now.
I will not be rage quitting but I will be dialing back my play to getting the Pinnacles weapons each week.
Unfortunately I like this game so much I will be buying the expansion pack just to see where the story goes.
Edit
A couple of players have correctly stated I have KD of 0.5 implying that this is the real issue, but they do not understand the point I am trying to make. Prior to the change my low skill level was not a barrier to successfully participating in a range of IB events and more importantly enjoying the matches as they felt fair and balanced. I still stand by my view that the MM algorithm is doing its job poorly as evidenced by players reporting an increased number of games going the mercy route and increasingly been matched against stacked teams populated with player way above their pay grade.
Also if any one has a detailed understanding of these algorithms an explanation how four low level randoms were matched against a stacked six person team with the majority of the players having almost maxed out mater worked kit would be appreciated.
Edit 2
Not sure I will post anything like this again given the debate and dialogue it has generated. There were a couple of comments from CBMM supporters which I initially took as negative which on reflection have prompted me to give it a go again and after doing a couple of chores with my Titan I will be entering the fray with my Warlock

5 отв.Numbers are up because its 4 pinnacle rewards per character just for participation, and can be done solo. Thats twelve pinnacles per account for many casual players. With the crap repetition of pinnacle drops, and rubbish levelling grind its no wonder people are in the crucible. But after a week of being stomped see how many come back. I usually do all three characters bounties and quests and enjoy it. This time did hunter only, finished quest and two bounties( both primaries same as previous 4 pinnacle drops) and gave up. Some like the crucible now, others hate it. Personally find it too frustrating so given up for the moment, like so many of my clan.

I have had issues with team balancing but honestly as far as cbmm vs sbmm goes.. I've noticed no difference from last season to this. I even checked my numbers and my stats are almost the same.... Think people are over exaggerating the whole cbmm.

And yet this is happening..... https://www.dexerto.com/amp/destiny/destiny-2-hits-crucible-player-record-after-bungie-disables-sbmm-1387826

I feel like we see the same kind of posts every time Iron Banner comes around. Maybe they should just scrap it and figure out something new.
-
I did a few games of IB, same every game mercy after mercy. Boring. No even matches. Predictable.
-
No offense to the OP here, but it seems that every anti-CBMM post on here is a dude with really low stats who got swindled into thinking they were better than they were or were improving by strict SBMM. Strict SBMM made them think they were improving and made them think they were performing well, but all it really did was shift the mean skill level to them in each match, giving them a false window of skill assessment. Fact of the matter is if the SBMM criteria is too strict as it was in D2, a player doesn't have to improve movement, aim, decision making, etc. in order to consistently perform well in those matches. Strict SBMM doesn't provide the natural drive to improve. If a player wants to improve, that's one thing. But strict SBMM won't ever provide that pillar that's barely out of reach for a player to see, target, climb, and overcome.

27 отв.Numbers don't lie. People prefer cbmm.

1 ответИзменено (SPARTAN_SCRUB247): 7/5/2020 3:30:31 PMYou won 10 of 17 matches. I wish i was that lucky. Try going 8.0 and still loosing lol
A couple of players have correctly stated I have KD of 0.5 implying that this is the real issue, but they do not understand the point I am trying to make. Prior to the change my low skill level was not a barrier to successfully participating in a range of IB events
Essentially you had pvp mm pander to your (and I dont mean to offend you here) ineptitude and lower your opponents so you could be guaranteed some success in pvp. That shouldn't have ever happened in casual modes from the start. In other words you had training wheels on and now you're playing everyone.

Yea i agree, i just played about a dozen games and only 1 or 2 weren't a mercy... I do like the faster que times and there is less lag but who cares when it's pretty much always stomp or be stomped... I always looked forward to IB but this one has been the least enjoyable i can remember and i wont be doing all 3 characters like i normally do 😑👎

1 ответMost of the matches have been really one sided. Over half are very fast, meaning it takes more rounds to get the bounties. A lot of mercies. The uneven nature of the matches means a lot of breaking up the teams. Finishing the bounties means a lot of loading. I know you top tier folks like stomping us,but there's got to be a balance here.

3 отв.Изменено (aequus): 7/4/2020 10:12:19 PMThere is room for improvement in the lobby balance area. However, this IB has been SOO much better than the lag/garbage fest it was with SBMM. Seems like the removal of SBMM has brought about more players bigger numbers is good.. I think for the majoirty CBMM is more enjoyable. We'll have to see how it continues to play out. but in my Opinion Crucible/IB has been muich improved since they got rid of SBMM.

2 отв.The reason you enjoyed it and had no problem was because you were in a bubble of other 0.5kd players. That bubble got popped and now you face all skill levels. The amount of times you get stomped seem more then when your winning because those memories last longer. Connection based matchmaking is better because it reduces the lag alot and also gives the above average players a chance of relax. Think this matchmaking system is bad then look at the numbers on destinytracker and you will see how high they are and that they are actually record breaking

1 ответThe majority of matches have been really lopsided. There was maybe one match I remember that was fairly close, but all the rest were blowouts or mercies. This applies for my team and enemy team as well of course. I agree, this is the worst match making in iron banner I’ve seen so far.
-
My experience has been pretty casual. The teams I have faced were PvE mains and were easy to beat. But my teammates were the most useless I've ever had in awhile. People going .02s and barely getting 3 kills. Its frustrating having to play while chained to deadweights. But pretty enjoyable if I stopped caring about winning.
-
I played a couple of hours of banana yesterday, had a blast. Very little lag, which is always good.
-
4 отв.I disagree. I love it. And you can check my general crucible stats I'm average at best. Iron banner has been the first time I've actually signed on and wanted to play pvp instead of pve.
-
In the time it took to write your post, you could have gotten good.
-
Best iron banner ever
-
Most played ib ever. Official.
-
Amazing. Every single iron Banner is somehow the worst one.

8 отв.Изменено (Rambosmurf): 7/4/2020 1:57:58 PMI am a solo player, and i find IB fun, my score sucks my K/D is probably laughable. BUT here is the problem with the mentality of people. They join a game, hit the TAB button and see it is a fully stacked team, and instead of giving it a go and take that match for what it is, here is what happens. They ALT TAB out of the game, enters the forum and starts whining and crying. I have been steam rolled by fully stacked teams, and the team i am on have won. But entering the mental state of "This is utterly BS, we have already lost" before the game has started, well it takes you now where. Are there issues with balance in this game?, Well yes there is. But if you are looking for a good balanced pvp game, this is not it. SBMM/CBMM in not the issues if you want this game to be perfectly balanced, fair and completely skill base. That issue runs deeper. Of all the complaints that has been made, how many have gotten a response from bungie? At this point it is just people going at each other of things they have 0 control over. I have no intention of becoming a great/good pvp player, if on my journey i become that, i will take that as a bonus. But in my experience as a gamer, the people that usually screams the highest are actually the people that wants to get realy good, realy fast and have no bumps inn the road. I know, i used to be that person. People need to accept that we are not all pvp "gods" and the road to becoming a good player for people that have problems with pvp, that road is hard and long. But nowdays people want everything without working for anything. And that is sounds like a YOU problem.

2 отв.As I've read quite recently we're all supposed to "git gud" and we do this by playing challenging players, i.e. people better than ourselves (so they tell us) as this is the only way we will develop to "git gud". Now I'm a strictly substandard player (not that 2 kills a game bothers me one bit) and it takes a hell of a while to find a group worse than I am for me to stomp. What I'd like to know that whilst I'm getting matched with all these "great" players, improving myself, who exactly are THEY playing to improve their game skills, cos playing me certainly ain't improving them one little bit. Sure, playing me is going to make someone feel a lot better, improving their defeats tally from high 20's to high 30's ..... well done, you've beaten a scrub this game! Surely as several streamers have shown, if you're a "great" player, then you adapt your game and play around the issue of lag, etc and overcome your opponent ....... or alternatively, you take the loss on the chin like a big boy. Plenty of us substandard players are taking a lot of heavy losses on the chin since the change in matchmaking through the simple change of being fed a better connected game at the expense of Bungie not caring who they're feeding us to. Maybe it hasn't crossed the elite minds that not everyone jumps into D2 to, to "git gud". There may be just the chance that people jump into the game for a bit of fun, possibly, rather than a pants down beating 8 games out of 10 See you all in the Crucible, I'll be propping up the bottom of the table! ps - Save your "git guds" for someone else. I aint interested.

The way the mm works chances are you are going to have the best players on your team.... so help them... become the zones.... do nothing but cap zones....
-
4 отв.Cuz you’re bad noob get gud
-
It's been the same for me since D1; blowout after blowout.
