Raids are overcomplicated and not fun

Why does every raid encounter have to be convoluted with ridiculous mechanics? Every new raid were supposed to figure out some absurd mechanic about grabbing symbols or stepping on random plates in a specific order to make a boss that is immune (for no apparent reason) able to be damaged. For example, that one scourge of the past encounter where you melee a bunch of symbols which creates a force field around you (for no reason) which then somehow summons a tank which then eventually self destructs (for no apparent reason) after you shoot the boss’ magical immunity shield with it??? Who thought of this crap?? Everyone complains about crucible but at least I don’t have to step on a plate or shoot a sequence of symbols to actually deal damage to an enemy. I get that raids in this game are supposed to be difficult, but they should be more like D1 raids like vault of glass and crotas end where mechanics made logical sense and could be figured out by using common sense.
