I think they lied about having the original crew that worked on D1 ROI creating D2. There is no way in hell they would have screwed this game up this bad after that.

Изменено (xilxad): 6/2/2019 3:52:46 PMA corporate decision was made to turn destiny into a casual friendly experience that would support a digital store that would provide additional revenue. Revenue that they believed would eclipse initial game sales. As we know this plan was a disaster for bungie. But, thanks to activision and the additional dev teams they provided, war mind and, even more so, Forsaken were fairly successful. This, at least for the time being, saved the game. It also allowed bungie to somewhat succeed on their former plan. With players returning and the popularity of the whisper quest, bungie, realizing how enthusiastic players were to get their hands on D1 gear, immediately offered new weapon skins as well as physical items. Now destiny 1 items are reappearing regularly accompanied with quests of varying quality and bungie selling the above mentioned items. This strategy will continue as long as people are spending.

So, is this where the reboot came in, leaving them only 13 months to push D2 out the door changing the entire game from being an actual game worth playing? The problem with some of what you said like letting gamers get their hands on D1 content is that D1 content doesn't work for D2 on how it's designed. It was a disaster waiting to happen because some people were putting their needs, wants, etc... way above everyone else.

I agree. The problem with the plan is that this new version of destiny still does not function with the items from D1. Whisper was brought back in a state that is not compatible with current design philosophy, which is why it was always intended to be re-nerfed. I told my fireteam the night we got it that it was going to be nerfed and that I believed bungie already planned it. But a nerfed version simply would not have had the desired impact and might not have generated the additional sales or enthusiasm. In other words we were played.

Hints to why they left it alone before they brought it back. Make gamers feel like they are getting something worthwhile to make that sale and Wham! laugh at them a month or 2 later and say "we forgot it was too OP".
-
That’s it, in a nutshell. Plus it was important to have more of the goodies available and freshly announced because it curbed the rebellion. Very smart planning. Whisper is getting chopped?!? Oh, holy crap lets go get outbreak! Yay!
-
True, it is smart planning but it's hurting them in the long run. I mean think about it. Outbreak literally does not belong in this game period. No lore to it, nothing. There at the point of listening to feedback but the wrong feedback to use as a carrot.

Only if people start dropping out. For the complaining we do they still have that core group.
-
They do, but they won't make the sales as they did with the first Annual Pass, let alone D3 because how they have handled this game. They banked off of D1 ROI. D2 is nowhere near what D1 actually offered and they don't have D1 to go off of. They have this mess to go off of.
-
I think you’re right but so far they have found away to make their money.
-
They will always find ways and right now, a part of that is using Tess as they have been. It's selfish when the rest of the game is lacking when it comes to vendors or just updating content in general. There will always be them gamers that will throw money at the screen. Destiny is the (only game) most of them play and think there is nothing else out there. It's a bad habit most won't break from and Bungie knows this, and Bungie plays off of that. Why do you think they have been able to get away with all the shady practice and yet to come?
-
I know. To me right now bungie is just as bad or worse than EA and definitely worse than Activision. They could have just admitted openly that the Destiny 1 model was too costly and that they could no longer keep up. But the truth is they are not even trying. Now, when the community tells them there is something we want back in the game bungie starts scheming about how and when they will bring it back and how much they are going to charge us for it. Never mind the fact that the thing in question was a part of the game the first time around. Faction vendors in the tower with new stock every few months, random rolls on that stock that changed weekly, strike specific gear, the ability to choose what type of item you got from rank up packages, a chance every week to get something new from xur. There is more i am probably forgetting.
