D1: Snipers actually penetrate elemental shields and get critical hits. Like a sniper should.
D2: Legendary snipers are the most underused weapon in PvE because they only pop shields, and you have to shoot the enemy again. Completely negating the point of a sniper.
D1: Fast cooldowns because you could max out 2 ability stats.(Intellect/Discipline/Strength)
D2: Slow as -blam!- cooldowns and a shitty mod system that only let's you max out one ability cooldown. Ruining the fun of having space magic abilities.
D1: Combustion skill for Golden Gun that makes enemies explode.
D2: No Combustion skill. Just a lame explosion perk on Celestial Nighthawk that does nothing but make one enemy explode.
D1: Tether activates immediately.
D2: Tether activation is still too slow after a year and a half of players asking for it to be fixed.
D1: Cool looking armor and class items.
D2: Re-skinned and ugly garbage armor. Except for a few sets.
D1: Scout rifles are awesome.
D2: Scout rifles suck, and no legendary scouts from D1 made it into the game.
D1: Guaranteed strike specific loot with a skeleton key.
D2: Strike specific loot drop rates are non-existent, require hundreds of nightfall runs, and prayers to RNGesus.
D1: Have a safe full of awesome exotic weapons and armor that you spent years collecting.
D2: You lose all your stuff from D1, and are required to grind and pay money for the same exact weapons you already had.
D1: The game was a hobby.
D2: The game is a job.
D1: An easy infusion system that worked great.
D2: Infusion requires cores, and armor can't be infused into other classes.
D1: Vendors and factions actually sold weapons with rotating weekly rolls. Level up packages were guaranteed to be powerful gear.
D2: No useful vendors or factions. Level up rewards are low level trash.
D1: Archon Forge drops powerful gear, and can be farmed indefinitely.
D2: Blind Well drops powerful gear twice a week per character. EP has horrible weapon drop rates and keys are required to get the armor.
D1: Exotic armor can be re-rolled.
D2: Nah, son.
D1: Raze Lighter, Bolt Caster, and Dark Drinker.
D2: Swords are meh and not worth using.
D1: Decent ammo reserves for Black Spindle.
D2: 9 rounds.
D1: Abaddon and Nova Mortis.
D2: Only Thunderlord.
D1: No timers.
D2: Timers and more jumping puzzles.

Nice list.
-
The biggest counter argument for this is D2 IS A DIFFERENT GAME FROM D1
-
Yeah, a worse game.
-
Personally, I could add: D1: You could choose what perks run on your subclasses. D2: Pre selected "sets" D1: Exotics that added upon existing abilities or gave you all new ones, like Nothing Manacles and Twilight Garrison. D1: Prison and Challenge of Elders.

Shatter with angry magic...
-
Don’t forget about tether actually being able to 1-shot
-
Black spindle didn't regenerate ammo though, it took from reserves.
-
Yes. And it would be a better nerf than what they did to Whisper. On D1, Spindle could be used as a "common" sniper and to massively DPS bosses. On D2, thanks to the weapon being a heavy and the lack of ammo, the weapon is mostly a "DPS-only" weapon.
-
It's purpose from the beginning was dps. It's supposed to be used to constantly deal damage. Them making it a heavy certainly restricts it more, but it has the potential to also do way more than the past spindle could. And if you have the catalyst, that damage skyrockets. They pushed it into a dps weapon and it is very good at what it does. Since we have lunafaction boots and all that crap, changing spindle back to d1 would only make it worse because we can already do what it previously did with class abilities. It's fine as it is, but maybe increase it to 12.
-
Yes, it's main "role" is a DPS monster. However, making it have so few rounds kills the weapon as a Sniper. You cannot "afford" to "lose" Whisper ammo on minor ads (like the Vandals on Scourge), unless there are 3 of them and they don't take cover. IMO, nerfing a "Supreme" weapon makes all effort to get said weapon a waste of time. The whole point of this kind of weapon is to be powerful and a thing everyone will want to use. Not something like Y3 Vex that you only run after "to have" and it being surpassed by stuff that's more common like Adept VoC.
-
Well, you got your wish. According to the twab it was nerfed to no longer generate ammo but they increased it's reserves...
-
Can you send me the link? The TWAB isn't showing for me. IMO, there was no need at all to nerf Whisper (or Black Hammer), but Bungie wants to "dictate" how we play. And that's me and my clanmates haven't touched D2 in some LONG time.

Thanks and JESUS CHRIST! WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?! They've nerfed a ton of stuff... LoW, Ace, Shards (again), Ursa (again), Orpheus... Damn dude. Didn't Bungie said that they would stop with the nerfs? Wtf is this. BTW, I forgot to mention that Spindle worked bc it was a Special weapon, and almost never you ran out of that kind of ammo. Now, if Whisper stays on the heavy slot... This will make the weapon pretty bad.
-
I know that.....
-
But you were pointing out ammo when spindle can now generate it's own. It doesn't necessarily matter that whisper only has 9 rounds if you can potentially keep all of those rounds. It's not always possible and it's certainly punishing if you do miss...but it still does a good job.
-
My point is that it didn't need to be changed at all.
-
Oh it didn't need to be changed, but it's going to get changed for the worse now. https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/News/47823
-
Unbelievable lol. Why even give it ammo regeneration in the first place, if you're just going to remove it? -blam!-ing morons.

At last....a post that makes sense
