Just one more reason why I hate PVP
I entered quickplay today.
I know I'm a bad player, as a retired grandfather who remembers when graphics were 2 lines and a couple of square blocks I am not likely to have the reactions of young kids nor the capacity to improve quickly.
However I've ignored all the private messages saying I should "Just kill myself ' or that I'm a 'noob -blam!-' and continued to have a game or 2 of quickplay when I have a bounty(rewarding a valuable enhancement core) instead of playing solo PVE as I usually do.
Today I received another abusive message with the PvP results as a picture msg and another calling me an incompetent potato who needs to be carried(if you look at my profile you can see the top player in my last PvP game ).
I'm annoyed with myself because I replied and used profanities instead of ignoring it.
Why did this one get to me so much when I've received much worse before?
I think it was because even with all the Luna/Dustrock/Wardcliff teams who would slaughter me as I spawn or within a few seconds I persevered and got my kd ratio from an average of about 0.2 to 1 or sometimes positive!
I then thought I'd try a few different weapons combos and even though my kd dropped alot I was 'FINALLY ENJOYING PVP.
Then this squirt today really took that away.
Stuff your PVP where the sun don't shine. You don't get toxic messages from the PVE community telling you to 'GIT GUD OR KILL YOURSELF LOSER'.
I know not all the PVP community are arrogant and toxic noob stompers but enough are to keep me out of the crucible in future.

The best gamer I ever met was a senior citizen. Couldn't play worth a darn but could laugh it off no matter how bad it was. Really made everyone on the team take losses better. Imagin an entire team of no one raging about anything. Thank you PistolxPete.

People like that I usually report them and then I block them. :) Don’t let those good for nothing bother you playing in these games. It’s all for fun and it’s just a video game. Kudos to you~!!

I just turned off public messages. Idk how the settings work on other platforms, but I saw no reason to subject myself to what the mouth breathers have to say after getting dunked on

Sadly, you aren't going to find THAT much more support here, where people feel the need to judge everyone else. I used to play Gears of War with a retired gentleman. His motto was "I've worked my whole life, now I'm doing something I want to do, and enjoying it". Keep living your life, sir. It's yours and no-one else's.

I my friend am in the same boat. Had some squeaky voiced teen try taunting me and talking sh#t. I explained I’m old enough to be his grandfather, and have many accomplishments in my life. Seen war took life and lost friends and loved ones. I was here to blow off steam, have fun. I went on to tell that little come stain that his only achievement is how good he played a video game is a sad thing to be proud of. And he should tackle the really hard stuff like feeding a family, supporting a wife and kids and owning a home, having a job that don’t involve asking if they want fries with that. Things that really mean something. Only then could they talk sh@t to me. Next time the toxic crowd speaks up, remember those fools are playing on their parents internet, and have yet to experience the real ups and downs of life.

Are you on PSN by chance? I'd love to go into pvp with you and Liam Neeson anybody who talks like this to you. This isn't the destiny community. These guys are scrubs. Also, I'd recommend disabling msgs from people who aren't your friends already. Pvp is a much happier place when you just have to worry about your own self-criticism

Literally the messages people send are because A you used a certain weapon B you died a lot C you tried something and failed Also raids are much more toxic than PvP if it isn't with friends

It's not competitive or a tournament, it's frickin quickplay, oh dear god i've lost a game of quickplay because of some noob, there goes my Yale scholarship, my loved one will break up with me, my dog will commit suicide and i'll turn to a life of petty crime ending with me living under a bridge in a shopping trolley. come to think of it, dude why would you do that him.

1 ответI think it's gamers in general. I know because I took a very long break from gaming. 10-15 years ago, communities and forums were very helpful. At worst, you'll get an occasional snarky remark here and there. Starcraft, CS, those were the last online PVPs I played. I have been playing RPG's, and solo games I could finish in my own pace so I never had any reason to go online. Last year, they gave the game for free and found the game very fun. It was however very jarring be back to online gaming and find that it has more than its fair share of keyboard tough guys. Often all fighting words but I'm willing to bet none of those kids would last 2 minutes in the cage with me. No consequences to being mouthy nowadays, so it is what it is. At the end of the day, the real life is outside, in game, those are just words.

The little turd just caught you at the right moment. I too am a grandfather that loves to play Destiny, and PvP in Destiny quite a bit. I totally suck at it, but I don't care. I have fun, and that is what it's all about. I got a bit of hate mail back in D1 PvP, but nothing like I did in D2 PvP. I just set my PS4 to not receive messages from anyone except for friends. I have been happy ever since. Every now and again, I'll play a really good game, and whether my team wins or loses, my personal performance is really good. A stand out game or maybe set of games, for me. I'll get an opposing player send me a "good game" message. (I send those as well for opposing players that throw a really well fought match my way. Close score, right down to the end of the match. I love those matches the most). I've had a few players try to send me post-game gg messages through PS messages, but they can't because they are not on my friends list. I've had a couple that went through the Bungie app to send me those messages, and that really was kind of cool because they were interested enough to go that extra step to get the message through (and they usually understand why it is like that). The brats could do the same, but I haven't had a single one come through Bungie yet. My guess is that it is too much work to have to go through there rather than PS, and by the time they start, they lose interest. Once you respond, you keep their interest, and they have a new conflict to engage with. When I was still running "wide open", if I got one, I just blocked the sender as soon as I could so they didn't spam me while I was playing. Don't let the brats discourage you. If my playing irritates them enough for them to send me a message, it sounds like I am having more fun than they are, and I got more of my money's worth out of the game than they did. The insecure little farts have to run down someone over the internet to make them feel better about themselves and because there is no discouraging consequence to their actions like getting busted in the mouth like they would in real life, in person, if they made remarks like that to someone that was physically in their proximity. If you get those messages, just chuckle to yourself "heh heh, you little doofus. You are in for some hard lessons in life." And just keep on having fun.

Hey man, don’t feel down because of your reaction time. I’m a young guy (19) and I suck at PVP as well. Heck, I guarantee that you are better than me at it! Just ignore those messages, you are better than those folks who gave you hate mail.

5 отв.the abuse people encounter online is horrendous and its something no one should have to worry about. one thing i would suggest doing is changing your message settings to "only allow friends to message me" (its similar to this). this will eliminate all abusive messages from people who aren't on your friends list . (if they are on your friends list its a simple fix). If you are interested in improving your PVP experience i would suggest watching these guides by True Vanguard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAlVwhavpco&t=307s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAQrP3ZlvcQ&t=352s What i have found in destiny is that there a simple strategies that once learned can make a huge difference to how well you do and how much you enjoy PVP. reaction time isn't really an issue in d2 because of the hud which shows you where people are.

I don’t worry about winning the match, if it happens it happens. Difference between two and five tokens, WOOO. Whoopdi doo. People who queue with randoms and expect them to be MLG pros are morons. In all my years of gaming, I've never had the urge to trash someone who had a terrible match. As long as you're making an effort, you're fine in my book. Problem is...some gamers are just a**holes. Just no damn good. Worthless pieces of crap. If you're getting this much flack from the inbreds...limit your contacts to friends only. Under no circumstances...should you stop playing. Eventually you'll be able to hang.

You can enable a setting to only allow friends to msg you. That'll probably stop the harrassment
