And without anyone's assistance she's managed to keep herself patched up and running and managed to evolve beyond her intended purpose. Rasputin has more infrastructure, sure, but the basic potential on either side is the same.

While rasputin isnt rampant managed to evolve beyond her intended purpose. That was with the help of us. Ghost put her into the vex network. Which gave her access to the vex knowledge and so on. Rasputin is still far more powerful. He can play with the vex like they are Toys and used music to disable them. I don't see fail safe doing that. Her job is to help. She is not on the same level of rasputin. Rasputin has more infrastructure, sure, but the basic potential on either side is the same.
He was made to project the entire solar system and he evolved from there to a higher meaning. Sure they have potential but potential is nothing without the power to make it a fact. Fail safe isn't even on the same level as sub mind. She is a ship AI. Sure she has improved but that's nothing compared to what rasputin has done. Even sub minds struggle with SIva.

Also, the word "rampant" has nothing to do with her current state. She's not taken hostile action against non-Vex who've caused her to suffer despite it being clear that she can (scan the Servitor well away from her front "door"). Ghost facilitating the connection makes sense, since it's mobile and her wireless capabilities may have been compromised in the crash.

Rampant means an AI going insane or losing their mind. Or in this case having split personality. It does not mean attacking. That's a side effect. Rampance can take on different forms. Ghost facilitating the connection makes sense, since it's mobile and her wireless capabilities may have been compromised in the crash.
Theres nothing really to suggest she could hack into the vex network on her own. Rampancy means that something is growing without limit. I get where you're coming from but other words would be more clear. I also don't think she's insane; she developed emotional burdens and managed to rearrange herself to preserve stability and functionality. That's something you rarely see in AI presented in popular fiction. As far as her hacking capabilities go, she seems to be confident in her abilities since you can hear her sitting around probing for vulnerabilities in her spare time. It occurs to me that using Ghost as a relay is tactical. She wouldn't want to take actions that would draw the Vex to the area she directly occupies. Instead it looks like the intrusion came from Ghost at the remote location.

That's something you rarely see in AI presented in popular fiction. Never said insane. Said it could mean an AI is going insane. Her personality is split in two. Just like warframes AI. Also that definition of rampancy only applies to marathon. They know where she is, they just dont see her as a threat.

Personal growth can only come from power? Even if that's true, then that's an argument in favor of dipping Failsafe deep into the Siva and letting her take her place among life's champions.
Personal growth can only come from power? Personal growth is not the same for AI. Even AI have limits and rasputin is far more capable. Even if that's true, then that's an argument in favor of dipping Failsafe deep into the Siva and letting her take her place among life's champions.
That would he a bad idea. If A sub mind. Which is an AI stronger and greater than Fail safe was barely able to control Siva. What makes you think fail safe can?

She started as a sub mind, but she's clearly grown well beyond her original capabilities. Also Siva has no will of it's own, why is it difficult to "control"? Weren't the Eliksni able to make use of it despite not being walking supercomputers?

No qoutes support this but she's clearly grown well beyond her original capabilities. She really isnt that different. She couldn't get away from the vex, ghost is the reason she has access. She is basically an library with information and helps with information. Nothing shows her doing anything beyond her power. She doesn't even fix her own core. Also Siva has no will of it's own, why is it difficult to "control"? Weren't the Eliksni able to make use of it despite not being walking supercomputers?
Siva wants to have it's own will.
I can feel the mites buzzing, pushing against my sub-mind. They try to steal fragments of memory, but I do not let them. They have no will, but they want to BE. I exert electronic will: pushing, shaping. Forcing stasis on perpetual motion. They are quiet then, but I can still sense them. Where once my cargo holds were full of tools, and weapons, and material, now they hold barely-contained possibility. New worlds will be built from these tiny mites. Weapons and cities and ships created by thought and science. I fear my will is not strong enough to shape these worlds. Only the Tyrant can do that, but he will not be a part of my journey. Even his reach has limits, and we will be nine billion miles away. I whisper my concerns to the Tyrant in tiny magnetic bursts. He does not listen. The Tyrant says take the SIVA, and so I take the SIVA. The Tyrant says go to the stars, and so I go to the stars.
Also fail safe doesn't own nessus. The vex do.
