Already have worries about the money grab with Year 2
So...
I'm sitting here watching the Twitch stream for the Year 2 reveal of Destiny 2, and I was like... Soooo freaking excited. Sooooo excited all the way through the vid doc and even into the beginning of the actual live stream, but then they introduced this thing called the Annual Pass.
I could be overreacting, and that's part of the reason I'm making this post, but it really seems like the Annual Pass is just a new way for Bungie to content block the community and seep you dry of money without actually really giving you any new REAL content.
So, is the Annual Pass like the DLC bundle you bought when you first purchased the game, except for the next year of coming DLC's? Or is the Annual Pass a new pay wall that essentially brings a pay-to-win experience into Destiny? The way they talked about it on stream made it seem like the later. Like a way for Bungie to stay afloat because they've been taking hits in their revenue because Destiny 2 and it's subsequent DLC's really didn't hit the mark. If that is the case, I don't think the community should be held accountable for that loss and be responsible for recouping it.
So please please please tell me I'm wrong, and teach me a little more about what's really going on.
Also, can I get your opinions? I'm interested to hear about everyone's impressions on this.

I think the annual pass is the equivalent of Fortnite’s Battle Pass. Without it you can still play the game, however you won’t be able to get all the coolest stuff.

3 отв.See most people are missing the point with the annual pass, let's take you back to oh hell destiny 1. Ok so there where 4 dlc just like we are not seeing in destiny 2, and after rise of iron. Thing just got stale as all hell!! So bungie decided to bring all raids relavent as a free update. To bring back a little life and give the community what they wanted. There old raid gear from valut of glass, taken king rise of iron and the bismale dark below. Extoic version of old raid weapons, new look to armor, which I remind you if you had dlc was free. Now bungie wants to monetize everything they do instead of what they did as a thank you to the community at end of destiny 1. Annual pass is another way to say -blam!- you to the community.... Plan and simple.

I’d be concerned the content after forsaken which they clearly put all this years time into will truly be it for the year. The little content updates and stuff not really fulfilling anyone’s desire to play again. Or the constant removal of d1 things ten reading them in which I don’t mind old stuff returning but new is always preferred since we can still go use the old if we really want

1 ответDon’t preorder is my opinion .... don’t buy on hype make them prove its worth our time.... money isn’t the issue for me... if it’s good I’ll happily pay for it on multiple platforms. But makes no sense for me to preorder A game/content that can’t sell out and I have no idea what it will contain at this point.

Cod is cutting the story completely, and adding terrible BR. I watched my all time fav game die right before my eyes at that reveal. They gutted it and monetized the shit out of it. I was extremely hurt. But Forsaken? I saw hope, I saw a dead game self-rez, I saw some devs actually do listened at bungie dudes. We need to wait and see more, this could be a trap, but I'm optimistic. Its about value, what you like. You guys are right to be worried. P.S if anyone here has spent a cent on fortnite....the other beta that never ends. I dont want to hear you complain about aaaaaaaanything.

I will not be pre ordering. I will be watching reviews by non streamers or anyone who is not linked to bungie in any way. Bungie always make it look awesome but then it goes to shit literally within hours.

Are the enablers that give developers the brassneck to charge crazy prices for morsels of content. Perhaps some people like being held over a barrel, but gamers need to remember they need us, more than we need them. There will always be great games, cash grabbing developers, not so much. Where this mentality has come from, that it is acceptable to pay money hand over fist, to people who could not care less about you is a complete mystery. It is honestly like turkeys voting for Christmas... Completely bizarre.

The day they decide to scrap our Crota, VOG, and WoTM gear...and our Y1 IB and Queens Wrath loot was the day the dream died. This action decimated the original idea we fell in love with, a 10 year journey that would be visible to all in the way your Guardian looked and weapons they fought with. Guardians would meet and exchange stories of their journey. Where or how did you get that....or immediate recognition of battles fought. The journey of D1 was a brotherhood. All gone. What do we have in its place? We have D2....and emblems as a remembrance of D1. Who has seen those emblems lately? D1 has become irrelevant, as will D2.

It was the Forsaken reveal live stream, and they spent [i]half the time [/i]trying to sell us a $70 annual pass for unspecified content that comes [i]after [/i]Forsaken. They spent 5 minutes on gambit, 5 minutes on weapons changes, 5 minutes on the raid, and like 20 on this annual pass. It wasn't a simple "and to address your concerns about eververse, we're trying out a new way to monetize future content" it was a full on sales pitch. I thought I was watching a late night informercial by the time they were done.

4 отв.They probably already know that their ship is sinking & are doubling down on the scams in order to make off with as much pennies as they can before shit hits the fans, knowing their remaining player base is gullible enough to eat it up like butter &, in their own words, ‘throw money at the screen’ after a flashy 10 minute trailer, while laughing all the way to the bank.

13 отв.The two questions I have are 1) What is the content that we are getting? and 2) How is my experience if I choose not to buy the Annual Pass? Bungie needs to show us what we are getting with the Pass and explain it in detail. Using vague statements like "end game challenges" and "pinnacle activities" isn't going to cut it. Are we getting new raids, strikes, pvp maps and modes, PoE style activities, and quests? More importantly we need to know how this impacts those in the community that don't buy it. Will I be shut out from certain playlists like Strikes, Iron Banner, Trials, Gambit, and Nightfalls if I don't have the Pass? When does does the shut out occur? Is it immediate or at the beginning of a Season? If I'm not locked out am I at a significant disadvantage when it comes to pvp if my light level is a factor again or because I don't have access to specific weapons? Can I still take part in Activities such as Festival of the Cost or Crimson Pays (I kid, but seriously)? I hope that the Pass isn't something they are selling us before they have conceived an idea of what kind of content they are going to offer, and if they already know what the content is I hope they keep up the communication and let us know what the hell it is. I want to believe in Bungie again but they have lost a lot of good will, and I really hope that they are overly transparent about what it includes and how it affects me if I don't buy it.
