However, I feel that - especially for my part - this sort of venom will only beget more venom in future, as the political cycle continues: liberalism will likely become more radical in the face of establishment conservatism - a conservatism that seems more intent than usual on pushing back the advances liberalism made before it. Specifically on the American side of things, the obstructionism that Republicans threw up against Obama seems to be biting them on the arse as Democrats do everything they can to -blam!- with Trump. I can't say I blame them, the 'man''s a walking toupee of malfeasance, hypocrisy, and narcissism, but presumably this will swing right back around when Democrats are in control again, and liberalism in general. And on and on it will roll. :/ The good news is, civilisation as a whole tends to roll left, at least socially: equal rights are far more prevalent these days, arguably than ever, and people seem to have more opportunities in life than ever, overall. I should point out that I'm not criticising the bitterness or venom. It's totally understandable, but I'm not sure it's hugely constructive.
