Why is it that every time someone's skill comes into question, the first thing I hear from someone is "Your crucible K/D sucks, so you suck"? Seriously, I heard someone say that to someone else in WotM the other day. Totally unrealated to the current situation.
EDIT: People were missing the point of the second paragraph and it was kind of porly written on my part, so I'm modifying it.
Basically:
There are people who don't really try in PVP that are good at PVE, and there are people who wreck in PVP that can't seem to grasp raids. So don't base your judgements of one on the other.
EDIT 2: Something I forgot to bring to light before despite being the primary reason my own K/D is lower than it ought to be (Thanks to BrassedoffDan for reminding me)-
You can easily get a good K/D by being in the back the whole game. But some of us aren't sissies. Some of us are AGGRESSIVE. We're going to break their lines, grab those crests, cap that Bravo objective, dunk that rift, or just straight up disrupt the enemy by any means necessary, and take down as many enemies as we can in the process! If being that shift in momentum and topping the team comes at the cost of a few more deaths, so be it. Guardians are immortal after all.
EDIT 3: There are three other K/D-affecting things I should mention.
1. Unbalanced teams- you know the games. Where you end up against a full team and your team is getting repeatedy wiped by teamshotting, pack memtality grenade spam, and super chains. One game wouldn't be so bad, but there are days when you need to get something done and you're just getting steamrolled every game. Speaking of which-
2. Bounty/quest grinding- Good example: When you really just want to get the thorn quest over with, mayhem isn't up, and all you have is a shotgun and a few smoke bombs.
3. Just generally not trying all the time- Maybe you are grinding the crucible while watching a funny youtube video snapped. Maybe you like to play drunk every once in a while. Maybe you're too tired to do good, but too awake to go asleep. Plenty more examples, I'm sure.
EDIT:
4. Dropping in mid match on a losing team and getting repeatedly slain by supers and heavy. Thanks Scrubbiest Scrub

2 отв.I'm not great at pvp myself, (you checked didn't you?) but I'm of the opinion that if it really gets under your skin and you're pretty sure of yourself.... private matches. Otherwise, practice.

I'm strong pve player completed all content but crucible is up and down, sometimes I'm too other times I'm bottom when you get fireteam that r all over and face a well organised team it wrecks ya. Some haves I had ppl kill me as soon as I spawned nowt I could do. Been to lighthouse and have all gear, but my k/d is crap. This game is too inconsistent to monitor stats when you play various game modes and mess around wiv diff weapons. A lot of my friends who have great k/d play certain game modes only and farm kills to increase i.e. Hard scope spawn points and let players get Rez ... personally can't be arsed lol. Just have fun. Only thing that bugs me is ghost bullets and players shooting through walls... plus lag is massive online shooting at players that r not there any more grrrr lol

My brother, you speak of the truest truth. Praise to you.

KD is the only overall PVP stat given in the game so people who like to talk smack hang their hat in it. It's quite silly really.

Изменено (DoomAmplified): 11/2/2016 9:17:36 AMMy hunter and Warlock are over 1.2, but my Titan main is nearer to 1. Not because I'm less good, but because the Titan takes all the lag cheater deaths and drags scrub fireteams through matches. It also does all the quests and challenges requiring crucible grind. On top of that it was my starting character in year 1 and some of the score reflects when I was very sucky at crucible at the start of year 1, which would take ages to rebalance. These days, if my k/d is below 1.0 after a standard crucible match, it is normally due to painful lag cheating shenanigans. I don't think it is a reliable indicator of skill due to all the variables. I can not die one match and get a k/d equal to my kill count, but then get the teams broken up and rematched with a lag party and come out 0.69 and annoyed. I may not get the highest kills in a match, but I'll bet I normally get the most important kills, like going out of my way to shut down roaming supers or take on the other team's heavy spawn.

Problem is most of the crucible gametypes revolve around k/d so you can easily make the argument that it is a valid measurement for players to consider.
-
I usually do pretty good when I actually try . most of the time I'm just having fun, for example, the rare guns at the end of a match will be what I use on the next match. Lately I've been teaching myself to use no land beyond. I think people put to much into stats.this past weekend I was doing trials bounties with a couple of friends who are really bad at pvp, witch I don't mind since they just want bounties and the occasional five win card, and it helps me get better at 1v2 and 1v3. Well four wins and two losses in I wanted to get them five wins so I go full tryhard and clutch it.a couple of minutes later the hate mail comes in,talking about how he's so good and my trials kd being .94 so I look him up and with his 1.55 and his1587 elo, he had 0 lighthouse runs despite 1500+ games played, compaired to my 30+ visits. Stats are pointless if you can't win.
-
While I agree with the title your whole post sounds like you fishing for excuses for your shit k/d My k/d is bad now cuz I can't adapt to laggy shotgun crucible
-
That's a fact.
-
Some players aren't to concerned about kd either. I like to pull out some random weapon in crucible and use it for a week or so. My favorite week was when I used a god roll apple of discord. Sometimes I forgo shotguns for awhile. Maybe I'll pull out a no land beyond. I do this a lot and my stats have suffered, but that doesn't make me a bad player. I've gotten a We Ran Out of Medals in Iron Banner. In rumble I land first about 48% of the time. (That was season two. I need too start playing season 3 rumble.) I didn't play trials this last week because of skyrim and battlefield 1, but my kd the two weeks prior was a 1.7 and 1.8 through the respective weeks. My point Is kd does tend to be a pointless stat since depending on the activity it changes drastically. Don't miss me my rant it's late I don't know what I'm typing anymore. Words. Cow. Spaghetti. Cat.

5 отв.Despite my recent losses, I've destroyed the enemy team. I killed 29 people and died 9 times. I expected my KD to go up, but it didn't budge. Practically slated the enemy team again, and my KD still didn't budge. Your right, KD doesn't mean shit.
although I would like it if someone recommended a game mode so I can boost my KD and I won't be criticized for having a sucky KD.
Seems legit enough...when I play crucible I play for fun...catch me in trials next weekend.. I'll make the sweaters sweat... All about adaptation and loadouts... Small map? Use fr instead of snipers..pre charge to deal with shotty nubs..use hc or auto..big map? Mida+ldr+y3gally...aggressive team? Chill...profit... Passive team? Out snipe or strafe mida/pulse....every aspect of trials can be calculated and dealt with, with exceptions... Some ppl r gods. I am no god...just a filthy casual, with a 1.2 fukaround kd..

The only people that crucible k/d matters to are those same people that think ELO is actually relevant to the real world. We get it.... your high elo and k/d are your peak in life. Fact of the matter is most of these "high k/d" players do it with a higher percentage of special weapon kills than anything.... that just screams gun skill, right? Hahaha.
-
My K/D sucks because in year 1 I didn't know how to play FPS or pvp for that matter. I finally git gud but my stats still suck and I don't want to Delete my hunter just for kd.

4 отв.Dude your right k/d means shit I found a 3 man skirmish team that destroyed me over in over I kept playing them only to get mercyed by them I look at there stats literly there highest k/d was 1.2 from them but they were platinum rank or higher in almost all game modes
-
5 отв.Yeah, .84 k/d yet usually lead the score on my team and do well with most of my weapons, may not get more kills than deaths, but I usually get one or 2 as I'm about to die
-
PvP has been at a steady decline, so I've stopped trying. My k/d had declined too, but does that mean I'm getting worse? No, that means I'm having fun.

4 отв.It doesn't matter in destiny as there are so many things to effect your k/d. 1. Bad lag 2. Lag switchers 3. Ghost bullets 4. Dos attacks 5. P2P 6. Dropping into a 3v6 game That's just a few.
-
I agree in a way but it actually does matter somewhat. In trials I definitely check ELO more to determine skill. But if you have a negative KD in crucible then it's simple, you're not a good pvp player.
-
10 отв.Here's my 2 cents Skill isn't important what is important is how well you contribute to your team to win a match. In most game modes, kills contribute to your team's score. your death's contribute to the enemy team's score. So, in case you haven't been following along, K/D = how well you contribute to your team. K/D =/= Skill. If you want to know why your team lost the game, it isn't because of the guy in the back of the map camping who went 3-1 with a 3.0 KD, its because of the guy charging with a sidearm to show his skill and went 9-12 with a .75 KD. I will say, however, if you bring up KD in an argument you are a piece of shit. It's a video game, no one cares.

I think it should all reset every time Bungie decides to completely overhaul the way crucible works. If you're going to play a different game, you'd might as well have different stats. Y1 Service Record, Y2, etc. Also I'm not a fan of taking months off the game and then coming back to SBMM that in no way represents my deteriorated skill level.
