An "Otaku" is essentially just a weeaboo
Just because you call yourself that does not deter you from being a weeaboo. If you live, breathe, eat, and fuсk anime, you are a weeaboo. Stop using the word "Otaku."

'Otaku' isn't limited to just anime, it refers to any sort extreme obsession. I'm not defending or supporting the otaku lifestyle; watching anime is fine in moderation but when it impedes your physical health, then it's a problem. I've seen a lot of people on the Internet classify themselves as an otaku simply because they love anime; it's always the casual watchers who stick to mainstream shows as well. Otaku and weaboo are probably the most overused and misused words online; it's honestly best to just ignore them especially since weaboo is the new buzzword used by toxic fanbases.

An otaku is someone who likes Japanese stuff, usually anime or manga. A weeaboo is a very different case.

from what I understand a weabou is someone from the west who tries and fails embarrassingly to copy Japanese culture. An otaku is someone who lives a secluded life, likes to watch anime/ read manga, and can be from japan or anywhere else. While somewhat similar these aren't the same things.

It's funny, if you've ever read about it or watched a video about it, they say that in Japan Otaku is not endearing like some try to make it here. It basically means you are really into a hobby to an obsessive level, making you a weirdo.

In western culture it is anyone who is overly obsessed with anime, either way an otaku's obsession interferes greatly with their social life, to the point where they don't have one. A weeaboo is someone who is not Japanese, but thinks they are. Usually all or most of their knowledge of Japan comes from the anime they watch, and is therefore false or exaggerated. Anime fans often joke and call themsleves an otaku/weeaboo even thought they aren't. There are also some fans that think they're otaku and aren't. I love anime more than any other type of television, but I am not an otaku or weeaboo.

Otaku means someone who spends most of their time on a computer, rather than their social life and other things outside a computer. A lot of you are unknowingly part of this category. But, that doesn't make you a weeb.

An otaku is a nerd like the rest of us. A weeaboo is a an anime "expert" and uses Japanese words mixed to English words. They often mispronounce Japanese words making them sound stupid.
