Use the Nessus set it’s the best! Here’s why…

I’ve been quiet on this one for a reason. Most of you are still chasing the flashy new raid sets, the Iron Banner honeymoon pieces, or whatever the last streamer thumbnail told you was “mandatory.” Meanwhile the actual sleeper that turns survivability into a solved problem has been sitting right there on Nessus the whole time. The Exodus Down set. The Nessus armour. I’m only saying this now because I’ve already farmed every high-tier roll I need and the rest of the playerbase is still treating it like destination trash. Why this set is actually broken (in the good way) 2-piece – Emergency Electromagnet When your shields break you vacuum every Orb of Power and ammo brick in a surprisingly large radius. Not “nice to have.” This is free orb generation on demand the moment you’re in real danger. It feeds every fragment, every artifact mod, every ability loop that cares about orbs. You get punished less for taking damage and rewarded more for surviving the hit that should have killed you. 4-piece – Repurposed Charge Every time you gain, lose, or spend an Armor Charge you heal and gain damage resistance that scales with how many charges moved. At 4 charges you’re already sitting on ~31% DR. At 6 it’s 35%. The duration is long enough that with basic mod investment (Stacks on Stacks + Charged Up) you can keep the buff rolling almost indefinitely in any content that has orbs or ability spam. You’re not just tankier. You’re converting the entire Armor Charge economy into continuous healing + damage resistance. That’s not a set bonus. That’s a second exotic passive that works on every subclass. I’ve run this in Ultimate Conquests, Master raids, and GM Nightfalls. The difference is not subtle. You stop dying to the same chip damage that deletes other Guardians. You keep fighting through moments that used to force a retreat or a wipe. The part most people get wrong You do not need six charges every single second. Three to four is already massive value. Two orbs with Stacks on Stacks gets you there. Spend them on a Kickstart or any ability that eats charges and the heal + DR proc again. The loop is self-sustaining once you stop overthinking it. Pair it with any build that already generates orbs or Armor Charge (Prismatic loops, Getaway Artist, Consecration spam, whatever you’re actually good at) and the set multiplies the entire kit. Farming notes (because of course) Nessus Public Events while the destination is Distorted. That’s the cleanest Tier 5 path right now. Lost Sectors on Nessus also dump pieces when you’re at the right power. I’ve been focusing through the Monument system when the destination engrams are up, but the open-world farm is still the most consistent for pure volume. Prioritise high Strength / Resilience / Discipline rolls depending on class. Masterwork everything. The set only reaches its full potential when the stats aren’t garbage. I’m not saying abandon every other set. I’m saying if you’re still dying in content you “should” be clearing, and you’re not at least testing a 2-piece or 4-piece Exodus Down configuration, you’re choosing to make the game harder than it needs to be. The truth was sitting on Nessus the entire time. 😇👍💠

    • Not much of a secret is it... I've been farming this set for weeks (when time allows) because of the damage resist. And because Mactics told me to weeks ago. I believe everything streamers tell me. As it was, as it is, as it will be. According to the prophecy.

        • It’s so hard to come off of the VOG set ever since I got it. With it spawning an Orb at your feet, I keep the triple surge mods, subclass buff matching my super, extra 50 points wherever I want with Font mods, healing from orbs, Unraveling Orbs, and it gives my teammates orbs for benefits also. My damage resistance normally comes from a basically passive Amplified and Woven Mail.

        • Definitely the best set for those in need of additional DR. Also the general neutrality of the set makes it incredibly versatile. Basically it works on any build on any class. That said, I find the set most potent and useful on Solar and Arc. Solar not having any DR puts it at an extreme disadvantage. This set readily assists it. And Amplify is a decent verb, but not all that potent in terms of DR. Stacking it with Exodus gives one an incredibly comfortable 50% DR bonus. That said, I don't find it all that appealing beyond these 2 subclasses. The DR available on Stasis, Strand, Void and Prismatic really just makes this set redundant. The only activities where the additional layering of DR is nice is in Conquests, but those are an isolated, singular activity. I am personally of the opinion that 4 piece VOG is the best in the game, followed by 2 Piece Crystocrene+2 Piece Iron Battalion. Sure some folks are running Double Special, but the current sandbox does have Primaries as meta, given the variety of Artifacts we have, the Orb printing potential, and general utility they provide in the game. And given how potent and important the Weapons stat is in the current state of the game, why wouldn't you want more free damage?

          • This armor set is just free DR even during boss fights if you're using the Argent Quiver build. Also, this set is not "slept on." In the PvP community you're going to see most players using the two piece of this set if they don't want/need the full four piece of the competitive set. Getting a free heal when knocked down to critical health in the middle of a firefight is very powerful.

If you're bad at build crafting, and want to play a mini-game babysitting your armor charge... And if you're fine with limiting the potency of your armor mods. And if you're fine with giving up the potential benefits other armor could grant you. At base Ferro + Smoke is vastly superior, and the babysitting mini-game goes away. You'll have more freedom and potency with your armor mods... in particular, your surges for dmg. Kickstart mods and Special Finisher will kill your dmg bonuses from Surges. And if you're not using those you'll never stack high enough for the DR to be worth it. So again, if you want your armor mods to work worse and you don't want to grind for Ferro & Smoke... Nessus has value.
