Hey everyone, if connection issues have blocked you from playing or enjoying The Final Shape today, we want to apologize. We’re hard at work trying to resolve each of these issues as quickly as possible, and many of the connection issues from this morning have already been fixed.
Some of the issues we’ve been able to address today so far:
Upon launching the game, we noticed network related sign on issues related to failures in our load balancer machines. We were forced to route traffic around them and partially mitigated this issue within 2 hours of launch.
We saw a spike in Honeydew errors starting at 12:27 p.m. (PT) and completely resolved the underlying issue by 12:46 p.m. (PT) by increasing the number of Activity Hosts configured to run on each server.
We saw a spike in Weasel & Plum errors starting at 12:47 p.m. (PT) and fully resolved the issue by 1:56 p.m. (PT) through server configuration changes.
Currant errors causing players to get kicked out of activities and miss cutscenes started at around 3:00 p.m. (PT) and remains our highest priority issue to resolve. We believe we have identified the issue, and will be doing rolling server restarts soon to attempt to resolve this.
If you missed a cutscene, as a temporary workaround you can replay the mission by accessing the Replayable Missions node in the middle of the Pale Heart map. There are cutscenes at the end of Mission 1, 4, 5, 6, and 7.
We built The Final Shape to be an exciting, cathartic, story-driven adventure for everyone to enjoy. We’re truly sorry for connection issues and instability getting in the way of that experience, and we promise to keep working until these issues are resolved.
Keep an eye on BungieHelp for regular updates as we resolve each issue.

7 RepliesBoo F - ing hoo. To all the babies who can’t handle the inconvenience of not being able to log into a video game. I’m not defending Bungie. I’m not saying they couldn’t or shouldn’t have done better. BUT. It’s a f - ing video game. Get a f - ing grip. Who the f cares if you paid for it. Go do something else. Play later. There are people with real problems in the world, who likely whine less than all you ingrates.

1 ReplyI'd be upset if this was the first time, but it's not. I was finally able to complete the main story at 2 am after trying to play at reset. I should be upset after you said you fixed this problem after lightfall, and that we wouldn't have this problem again. I guess I should be mad at myself for believing you.

1 ReplyEdited by I Shinz I: 6/11/2024 6:34:53 AMI'm asking for a refund. Been here since d1 beta but this is beyond a joke.

1 ReplyThe only real work is the taking of the masses money and poor excuses. There doesnt seem to be any means of recourse, if so it has been hidden in such a way you need to be an engineer to find your complaints procedure, its completely vile, and entirely dishonest. As a customer of some 30 yrs i am beyond disgusted with the developers disregard of bungies fan base, highly un professional.

2 RepliesHad a flashback of trying to play Anthem at launch. That was probably the most bug ridden game I’d ever played. I made a promise after that debacle to never purchase another EA game and to this day I haven’t. Time for another promise. I will never purchase another Bungie game ever again. Incompetence has consequences.

1 ReplyIts always "we sorry" but when are you people giving back to the community that build you up?! Like....oke guys we know there were some issues so we are throwing in some extras for you like 1000silver coins...or free armor ornaments.....or a free exotic etc etc... No...its always the simple sorry....they love taking money but they hate giving handouts

1 ReplyThat’s all well and good and all but what do you say to people who booked launch day off and couldn’t play, my issues were not that bad but I’m on annual leave anyway which was a nice coincidence but it took my brother 6 hours just to get through the first mission with no disconnects and he’s now working the rest of the week and most of the weekend. (yes, I’m aware of how silly that sounds due to the only thing Guarenteed with bungie over the last 10 years is server issues when launching new expansions) Even more amazing is people actually believed you’d have taken this seriously and nailed all the server issues over the 8 month and 25 hour delay considering how important the final shape is to bungie as a company, destiny as a franchise and people who have invested 10 years of their time and money towards. A simple “we apologise” isn’t quite good enough for this level of incompetence.
-
2 RepliesAll the good will you bought with into the light spent in a few hours of a terrible release... again. Remember when you told us all you had done your stress tests and this wouldn't happen again? Remember the words you keep telling us and we keep believing.. you can forget it in the future. WE don't believe you anymore. Not one release has gone smoothly. NOT ONE. We get charged more and more for less and less and you keep showing just how low you can go. An apology isn't necessary as it is hollow and empty. You have your money yet again and we are all to suffer your lack of professionalism and capability to live up to the expectations YOU have set. Let alone the expectations of the players who are paying more and more to play your game.

Kinda wish 25 hour downtimes would happen more often. It gives players something else to do besides playing games all day. I was able to spend so much quality with my fiance. Him and I are both gamers but it gets old quickly. I’m tired after just playing 2-3 hours of playing Destiny 2 or any game for that matter. It was super refreshing having that downtime. The only thing I’d complain about is please let the companion app be available during downtime. The campaign is phenomenal and it’s actually really fun.

19 RepliesPlease check out this video. I have been trying to get into Mission 2 on the Final Shape Campaign. And the game crashes as soon as I jump off the ledge and land on the platform. I have tried everything from verifying integrity of my files to updating my drivers and everything in between (which includes Uninstalling and Re-Installing the Game). Please help, I was looking forward to play Final Shape. 🙏🙏🙏

1 Replyit seems like you guys were rushing the final shape and left alot of bugs and openings to outside of the map because i found one in the mission exegesis a cave with the black box with a red triangle if you go in the cave and turn left theres a hole there that you can go through and youre outside the map

5 RepliesInstead of an apology, why not do something good for the community. There are a lot of people who have played this game for close to 10 years and have purchased all of their content since then. The final shape releases and those same people can't experience the full campaign beacause circumstances did not allow them to buy the expansion. I am one of those people. Bungie, why not make the normal and legend campaign free to play until next reset. That way, people can get the full experience of the conclusion of Destiny 2.
-
1 ReplyYou only get to experience something for the first time once. And you guys robbed that experience from a lot of people. Take the cutscene where we reunite with Cayde for example. I know a lot of people, including myself, watched that cutscene on YouTube because we wanted to experience the story as it was written. One of the most important moments in the entire expansion, and we couldn't even see our characters experience it. And what's your solution? Replay the entire mission after we get our crap together. If you guys can't see just how important this experience is to a lot of people, then just shut the servers down and keep them off. Because that's a massive disrespect to a lot of people who have given a part of their life to experience this moment.
-
I paid 150$ to play, but kept getting returned to orbit.
-
Bungie hyped cayde’s return for almost a year and then -blam!- up the experience of players by not showing the cutscene of when you’re reunited with Cayde. You had 6 extra months, 10 years of experience, a 25 hour downtime before the update and even still manage to -blam!- up. And their answer to this is “oopsie, our bad. Play the -blam!- thing all over again, screw your immersion in the story.” Embarrassing. But in a month or so they’ll hype up some other update with zero consideration for us. Maybe it’s not just the “upper management “ who is shitty.

You know, I don't expect you to invest in something that may happen one or 2 times a year but the only good launch for me I remember was witch Queen and lightfall because I was able to actually play the game. These issues have persisted since forsaken, shadowkeep was the worst launch day. Been through it all 🤷♂️ However what I never fail to see is that are no lessons learned, what's going to happen after final shape? Are we doing the same song and dance again? Nothing is more disheartening than having to avoid social media for the most part due to spoilers because all the big names got in🤷♂️. Taking off the spinfoil hat, I find it absolutely curious why they never have a botched launch. I understand publicity The most tonedeaf was from X.com where we kept getting promos for a game we can't even enter that day 😒. All in all, apologies do nothing. Because apologies only work when it happened once, but no, you knew this with shadowkeep that this would be an issue. The last people I am blaming is the devs but moreso management for not thinking further than their own wallet. You want people to buy final shape? Have a stable experience, you can upsell eververse after

Cmon bungie! It’s close to 24 hrs since the launch and IT STILL WONT KEEP ME CONNECTED TO THE SERVER. This is completely unacceptable. Wasting our time with a broken dlc you had over 6 months to fix and 25 hours to stress test. And you’re telling us that thousands still can’t play bc of your servers and bugged out game? I call bull
-
The Fyre Festival has went better than this! Explain to me how you all took almost an extra 365 days to develop this final chapter and the game is practically unplayable….i cannot even complete the first mission without being booted then having to travel the portal again! I paid you $99 for this dlc not to mention the thousands of dollars over a decade of loyalty to this game and 80 percent of that content isn’t even able to be played anymore. What a joke! Bet you won’t even offer anything for the bad experience but hey we’re sorry we are working as fast as we can. Like why are you running this game on Halo 2’s servers? DUMPSTER 🔥!!!! Fail Bungie pure fail! I would rather have you all back at Activision and be micro transactioned to death then put up with y’all’s pathetic excuse of a dlc!
-
Is this actually going to get fixed or are we just pretending to do something and waiting for enough people to lose interest so some can fit on your servers again? I don’t blame the developers. The issue lies at the top. More worried about money than retaining loyal fans
Upon launching the game, we noticed network related sign on issues related to failures in our load balancer machines. We were forced to route traffic around them and partially mitigated this issue within 2 hours of launch.
Maybe your bosses should consider a different provider of servers, with more advanced load balancer devices. Or, simply extend the quantity of servers to give the devices more flexibility.

2 RepliesJust looking for a response from people, just reply yes if Temptation Mission continues to crash, I would like to know how many people are having this issue. Because I am still having this issue.
-
14 and a half hours after launch and I still can’t play the first mission without getting booted… couldn’t you guys have, you know , ANTICIPATED THAT NEW AND OLD PLAYERS WERE GOONG TO JOIN AND BEEF THE SERVERS?!?! Jesus man I payed money to play this dlc the day it dropped and I can’t even do that. The entire launch day just uped and vanished for like 300k people. What about the people who wanted to grind for raid day? What happening with that now? What about everyone who wasted their time and money on a broken product? We need some type of answers dungo bungo
-
Why do want to apologise and NOT COMPENSATE after effing up the entire DLC? AUD$149 out of my pocket and into YOURS - what gives? Oh and the Campaign (outside of multiple errors) as a whole ESPECIALLY CAYDE-6 and Zavala are just poor at best. RUBBISH EFFORT!

... Keep an eye on BungieHelp for regular updates as we resolve each issue.
Can someone at Bungie please explain why I have to go to a 3rd party web site and create an account there to get updates on your outage? (Without creating an account, you can't sort the messages by date so the top message on BungieHelp is always from Nov. 10, 2020). Sure, go ahead and use Twitter to get information out, but why can't you update this thread or some other pinned thread at the same time? You know, on your platform?
-
24 hour down time, over 3 months this was delayed, 100 buckaroos people paid and people also made sure to have the day off so they could play. You're a bunch of jokes. There's zero excuse for this.

2 RepliesCompensation expected?
