Grinding vs RNGesus

Grinding is the same as RNG

Grinding is different than RNG

So I see a lot of people argue about the RNG system, I hear how people grind for weeks to get an exotic and claim that earned it but then when someone else gets it in less than half the time they didn't earn it.. too me grinding means doing something repetitively to reach a goal vs RNG which is pure luck.. I want to know the communities opinion.

 • Grinding: kill 200 Fallen to get this! RNG: kill 100 Fallen to get a CHANCE to get this! Which would you rather do?

 • Grinding is doing strike after strike to get marks to buy your gear. True grinding has no RNG involved whatsoever (and no, the random crap from the strikes doesn't count as they're not whats being worked towards - they're just a byproduct of the grinding process). RNG is going into the raid and hoping you get good drops. No matter how many times you play the raid hoping to get gear, it is not a grind - all raid gear is purely RNG loot.
