(I would like to say thank you everyone for commenting and sharing your thoughts and opinions in this post I put up about a month ago or so.
Destiny's new patch has basically been updated to include all these things we have discussed on this forum.
I would also like to say thank you to Bungie for listening to all your loyal fans and making changes to better our gaming experience.
Bungie is still my number one game developer in my opinion! :D
Thanks again for listening to the players)!
In my experience im finding it very tedious and repetative and boring to go around collecting resources.
In my opinion i would like to see that you can gain resources from enemy drops when killing them and also when completing drop missions from patrolling the planet. It would also be alot better if you didnt have to collect up to 16 of those resources for every upgrade. I would rather prefer to upgrade a piece of armour by just collect 10-12 of those resources.
We work hard enough and put alot of effort in the destiny world to gain better armour and better weapons, we shouldnt be running around like gooses on a planet collecting resources for hours on ends just to get +2 Light for a piece of armour or weapon. I say it should be less frustrating, boring and alot more enjoyable and easier to gain these resources.
E.G when completing a mission on the moon you gain additional helium filaments, as well as killing those enemys from that planet they drop helium filaments.

4 RespuestasHighly recommend listening to a podcast or something while you farm materials. Or listen to a new album you've been meaning to check out. I refuse to farm without something to fend off the boredom

Yup. +1.

Worst part about getting lvl 30 isn't praying to RNGesus, it's collecting all those damn materials
-
Farming for materials is ok but a little tedious, all that needs done is an increase in the amount gained, 10-20 per crate or element and its sweet
-
Each planet needs a social hub like the tower with different vendors and one of them be a material exchange and a merchant who only accepts the material for the planet as currency. Each planet should have its own bounties as well. As for material, there needs to be different tiers of them like common, rare, and exotic each worth different values, havr different characteristics, and multiple uses. Obviously rare and exotics should be super hard to come by. Example- 1 rare relic iron would equal 10 pieces of relic iron or exchanged for 500 glimmer (again just using these numbers as an example). Keep the 50 pieces of material for 5 marks but also give another option for 50 pieces like 2500 glimmer. 150 pieces for energy/shards, 200 pieces for a strange coin, 250 pieces for a mote of light. Exotics could be exchanged for numerous things or in place of needing 6-8 shards per damage or attack upgrade for gear items, like 2 exotic pieces per upgrade instead of 6 or 8 shards/energy.

I do like patrolling the planet, but I'd like patrols to also give the planet's respective material.

Totally agree, especially when someone is ruining your chest run route, feels like you are wasting time. I once thought they could be awards for crucible. But your idea is way better!

8 RespuestasAgreed. Would be fine with a few options: 1. Increase material/chest density on maps. There are a select few locations where you can get a lot of materials in a short amount of time. This isn't really the case for Mars or the Moon. The areas are far too large. 2. Double amount of resources from nodes. Instead of 1 or 2, make it 2-4. 3. Make patrol maps more interesting 4. Require less for upgrades. 80 per Iron Banner item is pretty brutal.

3 RespuestasThanks for posting this man.

Should be sold in bulk for motes of lights

I like this idea. This would help out a lot for the upgrade boosts on weapons and armor.

It's not the action of farming itself that I can't tolerate, it's the extent at which we have to do it. For example, if I happen upon a new legendary item (which is far too rare as it is and quite frankly, exotics feel more legendary but anyway) and decide I'd like to test it out, I can't do that. Nope, gotta level it up first with excessive amounts of EXP and materials, in some cases as much as 16 per upgrade (and then 6~8 ascendant materials for the last few upgrades). If they would cut it down to say 2~6 max per upgrade it would be far more reasonable. At the very least they should add materials as rewards for doing things like Strikes, Raids and Crucible. For example if your team wins a Crucible match on Mars, everyone on the team gets 2~4 relic iron. It's not a lot, but at least you're getting something. Similar deal with Strikes (at least for Tiger Strikes anyway). And as for the Raid, again, I've advocated for some time now that they ditch all the ascendant materials from the bosses/chests that can reward gear and make those give gear every time (because that's the point of the raid, and you can always break down spare stuff anyway) but in addition to this, each stage of the raid/chest should give everyone in the group a sizable amount of spirit bloom (5~10). Not only does this cut down on the need for farming and makes the raid more enjoyable, but it will give people incentive to go back and do it even after the DLC is out, since no one's going to want the gear anymore when we can get new stuff from the latest/current raid.

1 RespuestaI understand your frustration with the lack or resources and the lack of opportunities to receive them. I too have and are currently out of things I need. But remember that it is about the work and should not spoon feed to any player. The resources spawns seem fairly just and there are even a few of those rare chests that drop between 8 and 12 of a resource, amongst other things. I counter your suggestion with another. I would like to see; instead of more on the maps, a reward based approach. If you have finished the nightfall for a second time that week you should get something, perhaps the resource for the planet the strike is on. Or for even doing story/daily missions again so there is some perk to replaying it, perhaps higher mission levels warrant higher resources received. The other approach, which I am still on the fence about, is the shop in tower. Where you can buy materials for glimmer or motes. Perhaps there can even be an exchange system, for example; exchanging spinmetal for relic iron. In any case if you ever need help farming or just want another spotter to find chests faster. Add me, happy to help.

1 RespuestaOne thing that needs to change is the additional resources gained from a planet (or Moon) needs to actually work. Why am I still getting one at a time still? I should be getting no less that. 3-4 per chest or collection after getting that unlocked!
-
No need it's soo easy to farm the mats depending on where u are u can get 40-80 mats in about 20 mins and all u need is 72 to lvl up one price to max soo it's not that bad
-
I don't find farming materials difficult...I get a lot from chests and around planets when doing patrol missions. I believe farming is important to a game like Destiny.
-
1 Respuesta
and also when completing drop missions from patrolling the planet
I agree, or even a tower vendor (just for something else to spend glimmer on). Though if I remember correctly, during the beta VIP kill patrol missions offered spinmetal as a reward.
-
2 RespuestasYou -blam!-ers don't even know how much material I farmed lol I agree they need a vendor just as if you can turn in the 50 material for rep and marks instead it should be the other way around

1 RespuestaThe problem with farming for resources IMO is that the payoff is temporary. Farming resources in a typical MMO increases your profession level permanently as opposed to only applying to a specific weapon or piece of armour that may be totally redundant in 2 weeks. The rebate for dismantling is shockingly bad too.
