In my opinion, this game HAS to be challenging in order to keep my interest long-term.
I wonder, do you think the game will be challenging? I'm assuming there will not be different levels of difficulty (easy, normal, heroic, legendary) so where will the challenge come from?
Are you worried that Bungie is trying to make the game fun for everyone, inadvertently removing the challenge? It was stated in a gameplay demo that players of all skill levels can contribute and skilled players will stand out. How do you think this will happen?

I think the challenge is going to be based on location... you know damn well you're not suppose to be lurking in the heart of the strongest / main Cabal stronghold/ship as soon as you boot the game... expect to be gun the hell down.

Is Dora the explorer challenging?
-
I hope it's like heroic and legendary difficulty. Not frustratingly difficult but hard enough to be satisfying. I don't want to feel like a super soldier. I want to feel like I'm one of the last humans left and these alien races that tried to crush humanity are actually as threatening and powerful as they have been made out to be.
-
I would think they would make it challenging

2 RespuestasI forget in what interview ( SO MANY E3 INTERVIEWS!!!) but they said their goal was to always challenge the player and the E3 footage the enemies were made easier so no one dies on screen except at that set part. Now how much it challenges the player I really don't know but I'm assuming it'll be like playing on something between heroic and legendary with a good amount of enemies and probably just increase enemy count in public areas. That's how 343i Spartan Ops managed it in which, compared to campaign, increased the number of enemies facing you at once.
-
2 RespuestasIt seems a big concern, as games are getting easier and easier, but I trust that Destiny will prove to be a challenge on higher difficulties
-
2 RespuestasNo, it'll be extremely easy. This is Bungee, they always make easy games!
-
1 RespuestaKeep in mind that Gears 3 had multiple difficulties at once. The technology exists, so I don't think it'll be an issue. Simply adjust your difficulty to suit playing style. Higher reward possibilities for bigger risks, perhaps?
-
The other important thing is how to make the game challenging without just arbitrarily adding hit points and dps to mobs. Bungie generally does a good job with scaling difficulty so it doesn't just take more hits to put them down. One of my immediately most notable and disliked features about halo 4 was that on legendary the enemies were only harder due to a bogus inflation of hit points. They really didn't show better AI or anything of the sort.

I think there should be a story arc where you are asked if you are a vet or amateur and your story is guided through places with enemies a little higher level than you, as you have said you enjoy the challenge
-
6 RespuestasI agree that it should be difficult but no too hard. Where it's near impossible to kill an enemy makes me get frustrated but if its to easy it's boring. Heroic difficulty in Halo to me seems like it would be the perfect mix.

1 Respuestaaww... I wanted story difficulties...

Well lets see, the game is obviously geared more around your fireteam and not just yourself. So the game may be geared around using teamwork of probably various builds, equipment, and tactics to combat whatever it is you're trying to kill. Most likely for lone players there will be a more noticeable increase in difficulty but can still be manageable if you know how to play.
-
Most likely. Yes.
-
I believe the game will be hard, just look at how fast Jason Jones died from Rixis in the gameplay demo. And 2-3 players died in the public event. I believe it will be hard and when you die you won't get as good of loot.
-
Well, in the E3 demo, when they fought the Fallen, they had a red number over them. I'm guessing that's the level of the creature. Since the Destiny universe Is so big, there will definitely be some places where the enemies are extremely hard and you have to go to other places and do many other things before you even think about fighting them. Also, it shows that even the other guardians have a blue number over them. That's probably their level and the blue represents an ally. So the red represents an enemy.
-
7 Respuestasok, do you think fighting against 999.999.999.999.999.999.999.000 Texs?
-
2 RespuestasDepends on what you'd consider to be a challenge.

2 RespuestasI certainly hope so. One thing that I think would be cool would be if it got more challenging as you progressed. So when you start of you can afford to make a lot of mistakes by having, not necessarily better, but more "foolproof" kinds of equipment, but eventually you unlock weapons and such that take more skill to use and require you to almost completely avoid any type of mistake to be successful with it. Obviously there would need to be some kind of reward, such as maybe getting more loot from enemies killed with weapons that require more skill. Overall I think making a game challenging is probably one of the most difficult things to do in designing a game. How do you reward more skilled players with better equipment while also making sure the game doesn't get too easy for them?
-
2 RespuestasYou're correct that this universe will need to be challenging to survive the test of time. It's a tall order they've set upon themselves, I'd like to see how well they do.
-
If they want their game to have any replay value, then yes.
-
4 RespuestasThat boss with it's one hit kill in the demo looked kinda challenging. I think Areas might be level specific, but hopefully not too easy.
-
1 Respuestayes. it will.
-
1 RespuestaI think that a lot of the campaign-type missions and cooperative play will be "easy" by most standards. Bungie wants this part of the game to be accessible for everyone. In my opinion, the real challenge of the game will come from the competitive multiplayer aspect. Players will come for the open world full of missions and story (indeed there will be a TON of gameplay in this part), but they'll stay for the challenge of PvP. That's the way I see this game turning out.

1 RespuestaGames in general are getting easier. Developers have can make much more money by appealing to the casual gamers
