I feel you...

I feel the same. With kids and resposibilities you can't fully experience the game. Even in a "normal" round I can't realy compete with players anymore. In the beginning there was no issue, but after a few weeks there is a huge gap between casual players and someone who can spent 4-5 hrs a day. I struggle to fight back against purple shields with healing items I can't buy or achieve without ratting around while they are wielding guns with reduced spray, double the magazine size and no recoil... Seeing Cryo and what it takes to get there feels realy like a wall I will never be able to climb. Quite frustrating.... It seems like they only want that small amount of players that can grind as much as they like or the top 5% high skilled players.

Did Bungie not learn anything from vanilla D1 Trials of Osiris? Vanilla D1 ToO rewarded NOTHING if you didn’t get the 9 wins in a row, not nine wins in total. Yes, there were boons but still, really brutally cut throat PvP. If you weren’t a PvP god, had friends who would carry you or were willing to pay for a carry, you’d waste an entire weekend, hours of gameplay with nothing to show for it. It didn’t help that there were players who, after they made it to the Lighthouse on all three characters would keep playing to keep others OUT OF THE LIGHTHOUSE. So the population for that game mode plummeted. Less talented PvP players stopped playing. The sweaty tryhards were stuck with only playing each other. Guess what… THEY HATED IT! The sweats HATED playing with only other sweats. 😂 Considering that a lot of these players were influencers, Bungie had to do something about it. So later, even if you didn’t make it to the lighthouse, you could still get ToO gear. I have no idea how they’re going to fix Marathon. Right now it’s still in the elimination mode as in players who aren’t super good at PvP (not fair to call them “casuals” just not elites) are quitting. Who can blame them, they aren’t having fun. Bungie can’t turn it into a casual game, they’ll lose the support of their current fans. They have to find a way for those who are interested in playing Marathon who aren’t “casual” players but at the same time are not elite players, can advance. Maybe more slowly but still get better gear and have fun. * edited for grammar

  • Same here: kids, a job, another hobby I’m more invested in. To be honest, the more I look at it the less I’m interested in Marathon in its current form. When you see a guy like Aztecross spend 3 days playing on 3hrs of sleep to farm an activity, what I see is addiction not dedication or passion. Also the general disdain for casuals in such community and the « get good » is starting to turn me off. Part of me secretly wishes the game fails, not to punish Bungie because they did a good game and the devs deserve a win, but just so the hardcore learn to stop dismissing casuals who are an essential part of a AAA game economy.

  • This guy sums up how players have been feeling for years in the D2 community and BUNGIE is literally making the same mistakes in Marathon. [] I just watched the video of reforge and joker podcast and they literally said the same thing BUNGIE issue instead trying to turn Casual players into hardcore players like they did in D1 they instead threw up a wall saying you can't play this you either an elite or not this is a bad approach for endgame content which ruined D2.

    • Bungie has said as much. From the article... "Nevertheless, Ziegler confirms the team is paying close attention to the feedback, citing three main focuses that could be tweaked: staggering the two events more to reduce overlap, "changing" (reducing, surely) the minimum gear requirements, and tweaking other aspects like solos. 'We'll be looking into what we can do to retain these considerations and potentially accommodate this in the future.' "
