Next month, The Final Shape will be hitting one of its most critical internal milestones: a ritual we call the End-to-End playtest. This ritual has been a key part of development since Forsaken. It’s multiple days of consecutive internal playtesting that not only generates incredibly valuable closing feedback on everything coming this summer, but also spiritually kicks off a shift towards bug fixing and polish work. Heading into this milestone, I've gotten to play 100s of hours of The Final Shape, and what the world-class talent here at Bungie has created has quickly become of the things I'm most proud to have worked on throughout my career. This ritual will be especially meaningful to me personally, as it will also serve as a moment to pass the torch of Destiny 2 Game Director to the next era of leadership as I head on a new adventure outside the walls of Bungie.
As we hit End-to-End next month, Tyson Green will take the reins as D2 Game Director. If you’ve followed Bungie for any length of time, you've heard his name. From Halo PvP to the creation of Exotic weapons in D1, Tyson has been a critical part of Bungie's legacy since Myth II.
As a deeply invested Guardian before starting here at Bungie, getting to be a part of the Destiny 2 team has been the privilege of a lifetime.
I am and will forever remain a lifelong Bungie fan and believer in what the teams within its walls are capable of.
I've still got some time before I pass the torch, but as I look forward to taking a big break from social media, I know I'll see yall around the Tower. It is going to be great to play Destiny alongside all of you."
Let bungie rot.
-
1 RespuestaAssuming the game director has some influence on the state of the game; no thanks from me. Very poor decisions have been made.
-
2 Respuestasseemed like a cool dude. definitely wasn’t bad. i was elated with anyone after that smith dude. although, res tokens... ... made the game more toxic in my opinion...
-
I've not been seeing all of this that romantic. Blackburn leaves for a reason he obviously doesn't want to explain. Besides, I liked him; he isn't one of those abstract developers presenting Destiny 2 these days. However, Bungie departed from so many key developers in the last few months that I'm not surprised by Blackburn's announcement. Good luck, Joe!
-
I just came here to read the wisdom of all the industry experts here in the comments 😂.

4 RespuestasLeaving before release is never a good sign. Meaning, he will be gone when the reviews start coming and player response is due. He bailed on time. He did his job, now let others deal with the response on it. He doesn't care any more. Joe is free. Good for him.

19 RespuestasActually, no. No "thank you" to Joe Blackburn. He's responsible for the "go slow" era of D2 and the introduction of copious bullet sponge. Jumping ship before the final product releases is so telling. Bungo- you ignored the proletariat for too long. People justly voted with their wallets.

Destiny 2 sucks
-
Joe got sunset.
-
Awsome.. The final boss has been defeated by his own ego..
-
Run Joe. Run and never look back. Welcome to enjoying watching this failure of a sequel die.
-
For what
-
Bungie please add Anti Champion Weapon Mods to the game that allow us to grant Anti Champion rounds to ANY legendary weapon we want and not only the ones that are in the seasonal artifact!
-
2 RespuestasYes indeed, thank you Joe! Under your supervision, you manage somehow to cure my addiction to this game; after thousands of hours, I can't give a s..t anymore. So long!
-
7 RespuestasName something you are thanking him for. Go ahead.
-
3 RespuestasWhat happens to streaming the game with Joe now? Another failure huh?… Bwahahahahahaha!!! Even as he leaves, he’s still polishing an empty and broken game. We all know this company is not overdelivering anymore Joe. No need to sugarcoat it Joe. Welcome to hollowness Joe! Bwahahahahahaha!!!
-
Abandoning a sinking ship..... best thing for him! One day he'll get that overload minotaur killed! Lol
-
No, thank you. He couldn't do the job properly. This is the best news for the game in a while.
-
Everything but Luke Smith gets removed at Bungie *sigh*
-
10 RespuestasSo...Game director is Jumping ship...and we are getting Tyson Green as his replacement. This has "Destiny 2 is Sinking" all over it.
-
-
2 RespuestasSo does the PvP map pack promises leave with him?
-
5 RespuestasThis is what happens when you are held back by red tape, then blamed for it. GG Joe, you will be missed.
-
I hope Tyson Green is as adamant about this game as I am.

Players numbers have plummeted the last couple of years. Game quality is in the toilet. Greed, incompetency and lies are the norm now. As someone who has grown to despise Scumgie, wishes nothing but failure upon them, and rejoices with their every screw up, I actually do have to say 'Thanks Joe'! He's played a blinder, and more than fulfilled the Puke Shite role. Rofl.

2 RespuestasPersonally I do not know Joe. I do know business and some one has to take the fall for what has happened. I also know that none of us arm chair quarterbacks can see all the data, e-mails, internal communications and who is responsible for which decision. Joe is leaving, right or wrong he is out. I do not know the new guy and based on what I am reading he is largely not responsible for TFS. If Joe really drove the ship this year and is responsible for a bunch of the content in TFS, then I have my doubts about quality content. Following the disaster of this year with more of the same is not going to go over well. I have seen nothing to make me think differently and nothing that was announced today is going to make me change my mind and purchase it.
