With the way Bungie is being very secretive about the future of the entire franchise right now, i am really interested in your personal thoughts.
I myself am still pretty uncertain tbh. I am very fatigued on the whole formula Bungie has been presenting to us over the last years with their low effort, low quality, high quantity drip fed content strategy. Reissues and selling back old content seem to be the long term standard. And i dont think thats sustainable for much longer.
We also need a clear perspective. Players of live service games need future plans to look forward to. All we know about destiny in the future as of now is that it might get entire abandoned slowly after the final shape and they completely focus on marathon and other projects. Their episode structure will not bring in new players and it will slowly drive away long term players cause lets be real here, all we are looking for are the big quality annual DLC drops. Everything in between is filler and "whatever". So that plan is only working for like a year MAX.
So how long will the game even still be alive? The game is in a very uncertain state and the silence by Bungie about proper future plans is giving me personally very bad "we are done" vibes.

Where's the I'm not buying final shape until it gets a discount option
-
I will continue to play Destiny. I will not be playing/buying Marathon. Bungie has obviously shown their lack of skill in multiplayer department. They can barely keep destiny running as it is. If they continue to make Destiny or even Destiny 3 I’m all in. However I feel like if Marathon fails Bungie may also follow suit which would kill any future endeavors for a destiny

2 RespuestasEditado por Jet Set Willy: 2/1/2024 12:12:52 PMI’m unsure if I’ll bother with The Final Shape. My interest in D2 is pretty low these days. Edit: I definitely won’t be sticking around for final shape.
-
I’ve been playing less and less throughout the years, so I honestly do not currently intend to purchase and play The Final Shape, let alone after that. I’m just using the last season I’ve already paid for, and probably leave things at that.

1 RespuestaI think I'm done after TFS. I'm tired, boss.
-
Probably not. The fun has left awhile ago.
-
I think I’m out after TFS but I might drop by to play crucible every so often if I’m feeling it

4 RespuestasEditado por Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 1/30/2024 7:06:43 PMI’m unsure at this point. The game was so much more fun and rewarding during the WQ year. Mainly because of crafting. We FINALLY had something that served as built in bad luck protection. I played so much more that year because I actually got a lot of stuff that I wanted to try out….for fun. And I WAS having more fun because of it. Then they scaled back on it and released a bad story expansion. So now I am getting less new rolls I want to try out for a bad story expansion that feels forced. Dungeons are dead to me. Even if I do stay after TFS I’m not paying for dungeons anymore unless they get the raid treatment with focusing/crafting. Chasing dungeon weapon rolls in this game has been the most disappointing gaming experience of my life. If it doesn’t go back to being as rewarding as it was during the WQ year I’m likely done. Playing other(single player) games this year has reminded how rewarding a game can be when a dev isn’t throttling loot for the sake of a live service model.

A $100 buys me countless hours of fun for an entire year. Till the end.
-
Haven't you seen that before and after photo doing the rounds of bungie staff? Tells you everything u need to know. Bungie won't get better until they purge those substituting ideology for talent.
-
I’m dropping off now from playing destiny . Will not preorder FS. Will check out and decide if I want to play . It’s a great ride but it has to come to a end eventually

I think I’m done after The Final Shyte drops. I’ve played less this season than I ever have before, taking breaks for days if not weeks at a time already and we’re not even halfway through this season. Bungie killed everything I liked about this game. I’m a PvP player and I used to be a Titan main until Bungie murdered it with nerf after nerf after nerf. Then I switched to Warlock and had to go into PvE to level it up and get good gear and I realized how stale and bare-bones PvE has become. Then after a grueling grind, I hopped back into PvP only to get slapped in the face with SMGs, Decoy spam, Fusion spam, and sweatlords. Trials is unplayable, Checkmate is boring, Iron Banner is toxic, Comp is grindy, and Quickplay is infested with cheaters and bad connections at every turn. I’ll probably take a break until TFS drops, but I’ll only come back to see what Bungie needed 3 extra months to cook up.
-
I’m already done. I quit playing at the start of this season when the first thing I was asked to do was go and do blindwell activities. I couldn’t stomach going backwards and repeating content I’ve done a millions of times before any more. As the old saying goes “the straw that broke the camels back”
-
Likely I’ll buy the deluxe edition because I’m confident I will get my money’s worth, personally. Depending how this year goes, I will then consider leaving or staying. If I see moves to improve the problems I see in the game, then I’ll be more likely to stay. If it’s same -blam!-, different name: I’m out. I won’t say it will be a permanent leave, but I need to see a drastic change in some of their philosophies and systems before I’d consider staying again. Unfortunately, I don’t think players like me will be catered to, and that’s fine. I’ll just find something else and move on. It doesn’t need to be some overdramatized divorce like so many on here make it out to be.
-
I’ll be honest I’ll still be playing. I haven’t gotten to play much at all recently but for me I destiny holds a lot of good memories and is the place I met the friends I’ve been playing with since d2 y1. Just because the game isn’t in a good state half the time doesn’t mean I don’t have a blast playing it. I’m not gonna stop playing it as it’s something that I’ve loved ever since I picked up the case for d1.
-
2 RespuestasIf they keep updating it after final shape then yes but if not then no. And if marathon is they main game then I’ll play marathon. It’s been 10 years of destiny time to move on. Halo only lasted 7 years.

Editado por Hesh: 1/30/2024 12:54:27 AMOf course I’m still gonna be here! Destiny will keep on failing, I get to keep learning from it, and Bungo-lovers will keep on saying stupid bullcrap! Why would I leave yet? HAHAHAH!! As far I know, I’ve only ever gotten what I wanted outta this trashfire franchise! HAH!
-
I doubt everyone wants to stick around until the final shape with so many things bungie do
-
1 RespuestaNah! With the constant problems and overwhelming flaws, it's in the trash now. I'll be playing Suicide Squad and Palworld. Thanks.
-
For me, it fully depends on what episodes are like. Final Shape could be the best dlc ever made, but if the content that’s supposed to last us for months/years is bare bones and soulless like seasons are, then I’m done. Because at that point, Bungie will have not learned their lesson from 2022/23, and we’ll likely have the following expansion suck compared to Final Shape. Just like Vanilla D2 was to Taken King and Rise of Iron. Or Shadowkeep to Forsaken. Or Lightfall to Witch Queen. The on-off levels of quality from Bungie is genuinely maddening. If I was a solo player, I probably would’ve quit by now.

3 RespuestasNot many due to being conscripted into the military getting prepared to fight Russia .
-
I’m not necessarily on the fence about Destiny, but after the year of Final Shape, I might take a break, if not, just quit entirely. I love the game, but I also understand that sometimes people have to step away from what they love. Whether it be to get more time, or to be a better person, or for really any reason, but I am considering just stopping, even if I don’t hate the game.
-
I’m definitely sticking around. I play games for fun, and to me, Destiny is fun. I understand it has issues, and I address them and hope for them to be fixed, but it doesn’t change the fact that I love the game. I’ll keep on playing it, as I have for years and years, and maybe I’ll take longer breaks, and I’ll spend more time with other games. But I won’t give up on Destiny as soon as TFS is done. For years I’ve spent many of my days going outside, doing stuff and coming home and playing Destiny, for fun. That will continue.

Honestly think I'm cancelling my pre order & going back to cod the next time it's on sale on Xbox, the next 3 cod games look right up my street & destiny isn't enjoyable anymore, PvP on Xbox is -blam!- & PvE is mind numbing. I've been levelling a cod account on the side in warzone
-
I'm not preordering But if I see what I like. Cough cough ~ progress and care Well then I'm down

So
leaks for a good few years, pointed to a trilogy expansion 20225-28 about vex, with the end boss being xivu arath. This came from a source in Microsoft who accidentally tweeted it during the time Xbox where looking at buying bungie, with a potential new game planned to hit with new consoles in 2028. This was deleted but backed up by trusted leakers A year later Phil Spencer revealed he expects new consoles to come around 2028, this was the first official mention of next gen. Both bungie & Microsoft both denied any interest in them buying bungie but later in a court case it was revealed ms did indeed heavily invest in looking into buying bungie & decided against it due to bungies ability to burn thru money. Early last year bungie sent out surveys to lost players asking if they'd come back for a brand new destiny game, backing up the 2028 leak, given a new game would be a 3-4 year build & with marathon pencilled for late 24 release this frees up Devs for the new destiny game. But then revenue was missed mid 23, meaning staff where pulled from marathon to destiny, causing a marathon delay tp 2025, in turn meaning destiny has a gap year in 25 with just episodes 1-6 covering 2 years after TFS, then the trilogy taking us from 26-29. Trilogy is in this D2 game, old gen supported until new game, rumoured to be losing edz/Nessus or both to make room. Revenue miss means if bungie don't turn this around, & players don't flood back & spend, anything can happen regarding destiny's future. This is why personally I've kinda zoned out of the game, if there's no future I'm happy to go sooner rather than later, I'm not here for story.
