I’m an older gamer (60) and only have a few hours in the morning to play before work. I’m stuck on week 4 because I can’t complete “Starcrossed”. I started playing Halo with my son on the first Xbox and have continued thru the Halo series until they launched Destiny. I’ve played every season of both Destiny 1 & Destiny 2, but at this point I think this is my last season. The gameplay has gotten to complicated and my dexterity is just not good enough for some jumping puzzles and when you only have an hour or two to play (I’m married and this is the agreement I have with my wife). Getting to a point in the mission and not being able to respawn and having to start over is just wearing me out. I value my time, especially now that I’m getting older. I’ve been fine not playing Raids and Dungeons because I see that as advanced gameplay, but I’ve always enjoyed the storylines and campaign and it’s worth paying the $100 to complete. At this point it doesn’t look like I can continue. I was wondering if any others are struggling with this?

I'm a 40 something gamer who plays with my 65 year old mother late evenings UK time due to work and similar family commitments where I can play when everyone has gone to bed. I can help you complete it if you are on this evening or tomorrow. Send me a message if you need a hand

78y/o here. Use the matchmaker. Look for chill! You will make the normal level. If I can, you can!

Coming up on 77 this year, me and my 35 year old son have been Destiny addicts from it`s first release. I`m retired now so time isn`t an issue any more. Towards the end of D1, PVP became all but unplayable for me. No fun in spending half the match waiting to revive, at least not for me. Kinda hard to "get good" when your dead, waiting to revive. Always looked forward to the new release so son and I could tackle the new campaign, and explore all the new side missions. It was always a contest where he`d find "hidden" stuff, or I would. New weapons, new armour, new enemies, and new worlds to explore. It was fun then, not so much anymore. More often than I like in the last couple of years, he all but carries me thru way too many objectives. The difficulty factor has made giant steps away from the fun factor for me. The time spent reviewing loadouts, with all it`s variables is part of the fun for some..not so much for me. More and more objectives send us to youtube to find out how to advance, again, fun for some..not so much for me. Both of us have been spending almost as much time looking for another game to play than getting together for a Destiny mission. Sometimes I think, well, you`re just getting old and the game is leaving you behind. But quite a few posts on the forum are pretty close to just how I feel. Gotta admit, it`s a bit of a relief that I`m not alone. Sorry for the long "venting", but this game has become like losing an old friend. And you don`t let an old friend go easily.

I see you got the legend run done but I found your post intriguing so thought I’d add. I found the legend Seraph’s Shield mission (by way of comparison) way more doable solo, kinda fun, and challenging (wasn’t this scaled to fireteam size so easier solo?) This one, however, I found just too tough (& tedious) for me to solo. Maybe I could eventually but it’s certainly not worth it. Finished the catalysts & can’t see going back (except to help maybe). Yeah, can LFG it but the whole ‘no mic’ thing is a bit weird to me (why not talk a bit to coordinate, make it easier?) Maybe no scaling to fireteam size because Bungie wants to push their fireteam finder stuff? Anyway, kudos for finishing. You seemed to pull in a bunch of older responders here, which is cool! As a 74 y/o player, good to see I’m not so rare.

I'm with you and got 12 years on ya. Having the same problem. Going to try LFG to see id it actually helps

i can help. add me. i’ll get you through even if it’s only us. we can do it. it’s not very fun but let’s do it!

4 RespuestasConsidering that at its core destiny is a shooter, I'll never understand the addition of so much parkour/platforming it makes no sense to me. As someone who has enjoyed most of the stuff this year, I definitely believe they've overdone the "challenge" for content and that everything needs to have a base difficulty closer to patrols (the non neomuna ones) and then higher teirs with the slightly better rewards for everyone that wants it. If you would like(and this goes for anyone -blam!- this and needs pve help), I should be on for a good chunk of the next couple of days if you'd like help feel free to message. I'll probably just be jumping into lfgs to help people and have some fun.

1 RespuestaI really like the mission, it’s fun solo if you take your time. But it should have never been part of the story quest, that should be accessible to everyone regardless of their skill lvl. Also I was married for 25 yrs, you need a better arrangement, your partner telling you when you can and can’t play is unacceptable. My wife tried doing that to me so I started telling her when she could and couldn’t go out with her friends, she left me alone after that lol

1 RespuestaCompletely understand you, i am 69 and i hate parkour (that's why havent finished Oryx raid and others) for instance the osiris jumping on Mercury ( ;)) I am dreading Final Shape although i have preordered it. Stay well and try to enjoy it

I'm way older than you are, but my problem is lack of fun. I agree that the game is too complicated. I don't want to have to do research online about builds and weapons just to play a video game. I hate having to do an entire section over again because a Hydra spawns behind me and takes me out with one shot even if my resilience is 100+. Jumping puzzles are boring in this game and designed to kill you, not be a fun challenge. I play solo by choice and there is less and less content for solos each season. Bungie has done their best to remove just about everything that I enjoy. Running bounties shouldn't be my favorite part of the game now. They've bought into the streamer's idea that harder means better. I'm not getting the next season because I know that it will be more of the same; jump through their hoops and play how they want, not how I want. P.S. I got my wife into online games so now she plays more than I do.

You CAN advance the story. You CHOOSE not to.

10 RespuestasEditado por ΞsnΛχΞ: 1/17/2024 6:21:47 PMThat’s Bungie’s beautiful inclusive rainbow world where everyone is welcome. Unless you’re not a full time gamer. In that case, you can hit Eververse and then F off to the forums to get insulted by gremlins sitting in their mom’s basement who have never written a job application and wish they were a streamer.

Use the in-game lfg or go to the fireteam section of the app. You can get a team and easily do the mission.
-
All you need to do is download the Destiny 2 app. Then go to Fireteams and make a post for whatever you want to do. It works great.
-
Starcrossed isn’t really mechanic or puzzle heavy, more just juggling a couple buffs. Add me and I’ll run ya thru it when you’re available. I’m east coast, also feel free to join my clan we always have people on at all times.

I feel you. Sadly Bungies main focus is to satisfy 24/7 playing content creators now. They started their "bring challenge back to destiny" agenda in response to worlds first raid gamers crying that the game was too easy. Tells you a lot when a developer listens to such a tiny and meaningless minority of their community rather than making content for their vast majority of long term regular players. I have the time and knowledge, experience etc and even gear etc to do all that new "harder" content yet i simply dont want to anymore cause all it is is shooting boring bullet spongie enemies while they oneshot you and to prevent dying constantly you have to play extremely passive with a bow and peek shoot pve dregs. Just SO unfun, i cant justify spending my valuable time with that clown fiesta anymore.

2 RespuestasI dont mean to come off like an -blam!- but “agreement with your wife” about only a few hours of playing video games? That doesnt sound like a good relationship, but what do i know😯

1 RespuestaI am 50 and few. I know exactly you said, I understand you, I married and value my time too. This exotic mission is short and enjoyable. I followed Esoterickk videos about Starcrossed Exotic Mission and Campaign. I create LFG posts on a Discord Server to join a team to do this mission. It takes 30 min to an hour.
-
1 RespuestaThey need checkpoints in that mission. Seriously. No harm in having those. We have them in raids and dungeons?
-
6 RespuestasYou’re not the only one feeling it, OP. I couldn’t beat Starcrossed solo and I’ve had all the same frustrations and feelings you mentioned. This Lightfall difficulty ramp on normal-> legendary content is making me feel like I can no longer keep up and play the game I’ve been playing since D1 alpha. It’s a terrible business choice right before the Final Shape, because you’re telling any players that fall off the new skill cliff to pound sand right before your big finale. No wonder they’re losing players more and more. I really hope they course correct before Final Shape releases. I assume you had no more than a moderate challenge with the Beyond Light exotic missions like Presage as well?

4 RespuestasI’m your age. I’d like to say it’s my age but not really. Only age related things are eyesight and like you, finding the time. I too do not like the ever increasing jumping puzzle element to the game. One thing on season progress, I want to play all three subclasses. Progressing through a season using all three though is a pain. I would like the option (should I chose it) to be able to play all three characters as one. So if I complete a season step on Titan then it automatically advances my Hunter and Warlock at the same time. There must be other players who don’t really want to “main” one character but don’t have the time to level up or progress all three simultaneously.
-
3 RespuestasI’m younger and adept at this game. Nevertheless, I don’t perceive this as a “you” problem. I purchased this game to shoot and blow things up. Not to crawl around in the dark, wonder where to go next and to platform everywhere. The worst part of every raid and dungeon is the obligatory platforming/spelunking.
-
Keep at it, I am 70+ retiree and it took me a while. I swapped to strand Warlock with grapple and Monarque bow and that made life so much easier. I now have to do it on legend difficulty to get the catalyst! The bow is not that good so I may not bother to get the catalyst. Bungie are total shits the way the game is set up at the moment, as no matter your level the game will be scaled to make you under powered on legend it almost makes it that you will be killed instantly. I play out of East coast Australia time zone on PS5, willing to help it that would be useful( I am not that good). I will not bother with the expansion unless it gets good reviews the last one was chronic.

I'm an older gamer too (72) and I am stuck on Legendary AVALON mission (have been for the last ten months). I consider myself a casual gamer and that mission is Not for casuals. And like you, I feel I don't want to advance gameplay until I accomplish what I set out to do or can do. That was part of enjoyment/fun factor for me until they made the the game very difficult. Not to mention having to start over many times and lack of checkpoints. So like you, I guess I'll keep my $100 in my pocket. I can only imagine that the Final Shape expansion is going to even more difficult.
