Who cares what he thinks? He's no different than anyone else and his opinions aren't any more important. It's a bad story regardless of what an ersatz pundit like "Byf" thinks.

Idk I don't really watch him, but from my knowledge of him, he is always in Bungies' corner and hyping them up. So when a paid fan boy is saying the story is trash, you have a problem.

Generally you’re correct but he’s a big proponent of Destiny since day 1 and has a lot of clout when it comes to the game. So him dumping on the new campaign is a big deal and Bungie should be nervous.

The reason why the op is pointing out that byf doesnt like it is because hes a bungie apologist, so when even he is disappointed in the game that goes to show how bad things are. Byf is still a Bungie apologist. Even he read the room and realized he stood more to gain by admitting the obvious, gaping flaws with LF. And if OP (and many others in this sad community) didn't believe that other YouTubers' opinions held more weight over others, then he wouldn't namedrop him as if he's someone special or important. It’s not what he thinks matters, it’s that he pointed out the flaws I was trying to come to terms with myself and it reaffirmed I wasn’t wrong. I thought the scene after Rohan died was a little short, I thought they were going to bring him back or something. I remember going up to Nimbus after his death and he gives you the usual cheery recycled dialogue, not depression in his voice or a change in character he stayed flat and it kind of pissed me off. The only one that seemed moved by his death was Caiatl. A majority of the new weapons are reskins and I thought I was just being picky, 95% of the campaign was strand, I didn’t even finish it before I got spoiled on that and all my hopes for where the story was going after Calus’s and the Witnesses conversation have just been crushed. I thought strand was cool but literally didn’t give a -blam!- about it coming into Lightfall, I could have gone another five years without a new subclass and would have been happy as hell. The stories Intro, the witness and claus’s argument, and the very final scene where he creates the final shape are phenomenal cinematic. Everything in between makes absolutely no sense, they even teased exotic Khostov in the trailer only for it to just be a pre-generated scene

Byf reads glorified books and fan fiction for a video game for strangers online - no skin in any game and no competition whatsoever. Michael Jordan has trained for the majority of his young, healthy life to play at a world-class level against equally determined, professional players. Your comparison is comically bad and outrageously poor. The lore Bungie has made would fit in one moderately thick book at most if we're being generous, the vast majority of which are very easy to churn out transcripts and vague quotes. Michael Jordan's exploits fill city stadiums and tens of millions of eyes on TVs all over. Need I say more?

Byf is a lore guy. He exists to share the story, because that's what it is. A story. To all the people who don't have the time or don't want to spend that time reading it in game. His whole career was built around destiny. I'd say he's got plenty of skin in the game. It's to say that if destiny were to up and disappear, so would his YouTube career for the most part.
