hot take: if your lobbies are to sweaty because of sbmm maybe you shouldn't be in those lobbies

if you're a 3.7 kd and you get matched against other 3.7 kd's and they are whooping your butt than you are not good enough for those lobbies and you weren't a 3.7 kd. this is a fact in every other thing that has sbmm why can't people in destiny except it too

        • Op can't read the sbmm TWAB. Bungie tracks everything you do in pvp including kd, kad, Damage per minute, sliding/jumping, zone caps etc. Which they give you a Hidden Skill rating from -1000 to 1000. Negative Skill rating also benefits players in-game with more aa, melee range and weapon range. Funny thing is Bungie added zone caps to Skill Rating since they realized over 80% of their players have a Negative Skill Rating. Also Skill Rating deteremind no full cross play since a 2kd on console has a significantly lower skill rating than a pc 2kd.

              Bungie should remove the “efficiency” stat and replace it with kd. The scoreboard should consist of kills, assists and deaths. The kda/efficiency tracker is wildly misleading, most stat padders I see have a kd thats almost half their kda because all they do it teamshoot and run from duels like their actual life depended on it. The “elimination/efficiency” stat only makes sense in games that have a very long ttk, D2 is not one of those games.

              • I'm under a 1.0 and constantly get matched against 2.0 + players. The matchmaking is garbage, period.

                • Honestly I don’t care about sweaty games, just don’t penalize me if I gotta go use the bathroom or something, much less on a casual mode. The lag is also really bad, like man we are in 2023 and destiny feels like a ps3 game even at 60fps. I could care any less how the game looks, I rather bungie focused on Gameplay for once. If the game is going to give me sweaty games back to back and penalize players for leaving then pvp needs to reward some good loot after each game. No way will I sweat this hard and not get rewarded for it, F that.

                    • Its because more often than not they are not actually at their indicative skill level, its usually the stat padders or those wanting to stomp lesser players that whinge about sbmm. True skilled players would actually welcome the challenge.

                      You are entitled to an opinion and to support different ideas as you like of course - however that is not necessarily how these averages work. Those 3.7s were 3.7s based off of the "overall playerbase" (this of course is VERY subjective). Now they are restricted to playing others of a similar skill bracket. So, player KDs will only reflect a portion of the player base which is informative of itself. In essence: They were 3.7 KDs for the overall player base. They may now be less because they have to work so much harder to maintain that average. (On a personal note, a few really top tier pvpers I know have always maintained that KDs aren't always reflective of skill anyway. An aggressive 1.2 can smash a passive 2.0 all week long). In any case - happy new year :)

                      • I'm not 3.7 being matched against other 3.7. I'm a 1.0 that match with 3.7s because skill to bungie is a a crappy team balance that throws teams together averaging them out while ignoring the flaws of this. Sbmm worked at launched but the moment they expanded it then it was for naught. It's litterally the same as it was before sbmm came back they just won't come out and say it because it would mean the obvious truth of theor servers always being crap which everyone knows but choose to ignore.

I see 30 bombs and 50 Bombs all the time and I see that they probably have a VPN.

                          • The point of SBMM is meant for everyone to be roughly the same skill. Therefor all matches should be sweaty. If the match isn't then SBMM isn't working.

                              • Different kinds of 3.7 kd players. Guess you’d have to be in that circle at one time or another to see it but yeah. You get comp minded players that play solo or with teams, often play fairly differently as teamwork is ludicrously powerful when done well but solos rey on themselves. Both very good players just different. Then there’s more pub stompers, often find them to be more casual minded. More used to people playing weirdly against them. Still a good player just comes from a different environment. Last I’d say you get your super try hard wannabe players who yeah will cheat, will exploit whatever they can or step on whoever they need to just for that number. This player can come from any group and is always the one referenced when people talk about “sweat” players or higher skilled players. I could go on from past experiences among some of these groups but I don’t think anyone would take it seriously

                                  • Maybe the lobbies are too sweaty because of the broken lobby balancing that gives you awful teammates to try to force a 50% winrate.

                                      Hence why regardless if we have sbmm or cbmm the core issue is lobby balancing. I don't mind facing other 5kdas who give me a hard challenge if i also have 5kdas on my team to make it a fair match . However i have teamates who can't even break even and i end up having double the kills of the second best on my team. Lobby balancing has been awfull since the beta and that's always been the issue. Before it could be circumvented by stacking but now stacks only face stacks and the means sweat city. The cherry on top is the 5+ minutes queue times and lagfest. Honestly i just enjoy playing the actual casual mode that is trials were i can relax and enjoy my weekend. That was not a joke , trials is were i actually have a fun and casual experience nowadays

                                        • I'd like to point out that when the population drops, like it has this season or last season, sbmm makes some really uneven matches. Example: if your a 1.4-1.5, you can get matched with a 1.8-2.0 if the game can't find anyone for the higher kdas to be matched with. When this happens, whichever team gets that player automatically wins. I've had this happen a lot this season and at the end of last season. Also the inverse is true for the lower end of the skill spectrum, except instead of high kdas you get very low kdas which basically guarantees your team will lose. Basically sbmm only helps players with a kda between 1.0-1.3

                                          SBMM is a fine concept, but its implementation is horrible and it's in all the wrong places. Casual playlist - defeats the point of it being casual if everyone has to sweat in every game. Competitive - overrides rank, meaning players in Silver can be matched against Ascendant if their hidden rating is the same, so the rank itself holds no value. Trials (idk if it's actually in there) - SBMM intends to make everyone have a 50/50 winrate, so 7-streaks would be very rare by design, making Flawless vastly more unachievable at high levels and not making it any easier for everyone else. Competitive is where players [i]should[/i] be matched by skill, but having two systems that interfere with each other in trying to do that makes no sense. Assigning a Rank to players and having similarly-ranked players match each other is supposed to take care of it, and it would quickly weed out players that are too high or too low. It would also help if there was any reward that made the playlist enticing. Seeing as everyone gets Rose, a multiplier for Crucible rep gain is the only reward that differs by tier and that's not exactly going to bring anyone in.

                                        • Hot take: The number of players that have a 3.7 KD compared to a 0.73 KD (your highest character) is so drastically different you couldn’t imagine the lag in those top skill bracket lobbies. And it’s never fun losing to lag which is a fact. Another fact is P2P networking and SBMM don’t mix.
