EDIT: This is probably not my fault for being super clear but I am talking specifically about the WEEK 2 Changes (flawless pool specifically). The Trials rework in general is great and I love it.
And here is why:
It completely ruins replayability.
I am by no means a great pvp player but I can manage a flawless. But now I can't play with my friends afterwards because it seriously tanks their chances of going flawless.
Last week, I could play with my friends, then also solo queue for fun/materials. This week it is flawless and then "-blam!- this -blam!- I'm out." I don't mind tough sweaty matches but solo queue in the flawless pool is almost worse than pre-rework trials. It's still all the sweatiest lfg 3-stacks because everyone else has gotten the -blam!- out after their flawless.
The people who love this change so much need a reality check. If you want to win you need to play better. Stop advocating for handholding participation trophy matchmaking. Week 1 was still plenty rewarding for losses and if you can't win a single match that sounds like a you problem.

I mean… the numbers simply don’t lie. The flawless matchmaking did little to increase the number of players who went flawless or stop 5-0 stomps, but did a lot to discourage players from continuing to play in the playlist. (Source is Trials Report’s Twitter, you can sift through the data and make your own conclusions). Honestly the change in total flawlesses easily could’ve just been a placebo + natural variation thing. To me it is not apparent that, statistically speaking, players who didn’t go flawless last week had an easier time directly related to the MM changes. Think about it: different map (one that favors playing a bit slower and so leans more towards weapons that are a bit easier to use, such as Messenger—no hate but it’s the truth— at the very least we can agree that this map favors a different play style than last’s.) along with the simple placebo effect. Tell people there will be an exclusion of players they perceive as too good or too sweaty and guess how many of them are going to play up to 7 games, pick up Mercy cards instead of Wealth or Ferocity, play more confidently due to placebo, etc. There are other factors at work here other than just the flip of a MM switch. But even if it were that simple, the benefit doesn’t really seem to outweigh the costs. -It didn’t bring more players. -It didn’t make people play more matches. -It got very slightly more players flawless, but could just be natural variation among other factors. -It made the people who did go flawless get less rewards (as they played less matches) and ultimately leave the playlist sooner. I suppose it depends what metric of success Bungie wants to measure it on, but to me it seems like this experiment was a failure. Simply removing the visibility of the MM counter will do so much more to improve the Trials experience than this.

I feel like the people who are complaining about the trials changes this week are the people who just stomped all the noobs after going flawless.

Pick a horse and ride it, bud. Challenge for thee, but not for me isn’t gonna cut it.

5 Respuestas“Stop advocating for hand holding” but wants to match against lower skill tier players to farm loot 🤦♂️🤷♂️ The hypocrisy.

1 RespuestaI agree it does hurt replay ability. But I think the benefits outweigh the problems. Trials is 100000% more enjoyable without the people who NEVER SEEM TO LEAVE!!! Like Jesus 400x flawless? Do you ever do anything else? I don’t think I’ve done 400 grandmasters/ raids combined and I play this game too much already. TLDR it’s nice to have fair competition as opposed to just waiting to run into a team that really shouldn’t even be playing anymore.

66 RespuestasWaaaahhhh, I cant pick on new players anymore 😭😭😭 90% of the players like the change, 10% dont, because they're forced to play at their level. Majority rules.
-
Still really easy in the flalwess pool to be fair. 🤷🏻♂️
-
yeah, this mm hurt the farming for normal players, but is a free 1 flawless for near all players
-
Wah wah wah I have to play better. F off how about you get better so you can compete in the flawless pool. The majority of players love this change you and the sweat 1% can it sausage and keep crying.
-
Literally saw zero point in the week 2 changes, personally. Just more of the “fix something that players are having fun with so it’s less fun” attitude.
-
Yeah flawless pool per account is bullshit. Couldn't play with my non sweat pvp friends or little sister because of it.
-
Ppl who love this couldn't get flawless with out it never gonna plz everyone

13 RespuestasSo here's how you get around it: go flawless WITH your friends, instead of going flawless alone. Boom, now you're all flawless together and you can get around the issue of "I'm flawless but my friends aren't!" Oh, you have more than 2 friends? No problem, all 3 of you get 6 wins, then you reset your passage, then they get their 7th win while you're back at 1. Reset, help your next 2 friends get to 6, reset, get their 7th, repeat until you have nobody else to help get to flawless, then go flawless yourself. Now you and all your friends are flawless and can still play together. Is it complicated? Sure, but it's a symptom of a good system. Flawless should only match flawless.

After playing well over a hundred matches between the two pools, mostly solo. I don't think it's as bad as people say. I'm not a great player and managed to maintain the same stats while solo in the flawless pool as the non for the most part.

2 RespuestasI consider myself an average at best pvp player and I couldn't get more than 2 match wins this weekend hahaaa the matchmaking felt much much harder than last week. Betting part of it is I suck way more than I thought hahaha. But, maybe not. I did party chat up with some lfg folks and they held their supers at match point rounds two matches in a row after I -blam!- at them. Then I did Trump's favorite move ...

8 RespuestasSo you can no longer carry your friends through to flawless and come on the forums to complain about it? Your excuse of you can't play with your friends doesn't work since there are other game modes....

2 RespuestasEditado por Ghost__David: 9/20/2021 9:50:05 AMDude you are delusional, my experience shows that before trying get flawless was way too complicated because on your 6-7 wins very often was cheaters and very sweaty players who capable to take down even cheaters, so most of the time i played it only for geting trials rewards just to have it in collection, now after this amazing change it let me get 2 weeks in a row flawless(got even confident completion) and i feel free to farm trials engrams in solo q. So i think only real problem is you but not the matchmaking, and tbh people in my clan who have deserved go flawless they are doing it way more easy even when you get flawless once, so absolutely disagree with you having matchmaking problems. P.S. Good answer ''Its Me Takaede''

24 RespuestasPeople who want the flawless pool : *Literally needing bungie to remove averge players from matchmaking so they can win* Also people that want the flawless pool : "YuO SwEaTs JuST wANt EaSiER W1nS" How is almost no one else pointing this out? Lmao this games wild

15 Respuestas
It completely ruins replayability.
I love how people feel the need to replay it One flawless a week should be enough for EVERYBODY
-
Trials as a whole is far more rewarding to the average player. I have people who despise pvp that enjoyed playing with me because they got some nice loot. I think its a nice change.

1 RespuestaAll these casual no skill players aren't going to care because they are only going to go to play 1 flawless and leave. For the other people that are mid not 1% no one is going to play after their first flawless. Already killed the replayability on its second week. If they don't change it, this mode will be dead again

2 RespuestasGo find flawless people to play with and let your friends figure it out

29 RespuestasEditado por Its Me Takaede: 9/20/2021 3:11:38 AMSo you complain because the end game content made for the best of best is challenging? oh no... how could they?! Okay serious now. The changes aren´t the best, in my opinion it should work with a ranking systeme and you´re only facing people in the same rank, but nontheless the changes are good. It gives people who never went flawless the opportunity to go flawless. And for not so good players it makes it more fun to play. It is as you said: if you want to win, you need to play better, but that also counts for people in the flawless pool. You´re not excluded from that, because you´re better than the avarage. Crying over the changes is like "ehhhhh I want to trash and teabag those losers and -blam!- these easy flawless for my own sake." Keep in mind there are Guardians who have reached an age where they just physically can´t bring up the hand-eye-coordination that is needed for above avarage players. You can´t exclude them from having fun in trials just because they´re old.
