The envelope has no return address, nor does it have any name on it. Inside is a single piece of paper. It reads:
An Explanation
Have you ever heard of a multiverse theory? Thousands of parallel timelines and dimensions existing at once, all similar but not quite the same? Every choice you make, someone out there, another you, on another “earth”, makes the opposite choice?
I’m here to tell you it's true. All of it.
An infinite amount of multiple dimensions exist, all vibrating on different frequencies, all similar, but not quite the same. Think back to the dinner you had last night. Let’s just say it was a ham sandwich with cheddar. Another you on another earth choose to have swiss on that sandwich instead of cheddar.
Understand? Great.
There are a few other things I should tell you. Some earths are at a type of funneling point, where the stories and lives of the other earths flow to them. That is how media is created on said earths. Your favorite movie, tv show, or book actually happened. The lives of these earths are funneled into the “Influxes”, as they are called, and manifest as thoughts and dreams in the minds of creative people. Some turn them into stories, or movies or books, using the other versions of the people in the story to play out these characters. One such Influx is Earth-6, which you are probably reading this on.
Now here is a history lesson. Millennia ago, before time itself, 2 beings were born on what is called Earth-0. They had a war, one that exploded into the multiverse itself. The two beings passed their war down to their descendants, and their descendants did the same, hundreds of times. Now, there are two forces in the multiverse: The Ethereals and The Watchers.
The war was won by the Ethereals hundreds of millennia ago, and they built an infrastructure around Earth-0, claiming to be the law of the land. The Watchers fled, and over time, they became only out to survive. Running from the false law that the Ethereals claimed to be. The Watchers also became mostly independent, looking out only for themselves.
Watchers must bind to someone else to live, making that person their “Interferer.” Interferers are given certain abilities. They never age, they have a quicker healing process than most, and you can never remember what an Interferer looks like, but you can recognize them only if they want you to. You are also given the ability to slow time down and you can jump through portals.
I think that's enough for today. You can be expecting an introduction soon.

4 RespuestasYou’re forgetting about the big paradoxical issue here: If there are alternate universes for every single alternate occurrence or decision that could exist, that means there are infinite alternate universes. For that to work, these alternates would have to be purely conceptual, philosophical concepts. If there is any means of possible interaction between universes, it creates a paradox. For example, let’s say in one alternate, a scientist successfully sends a grain of sand to our universe. There is an infinite number of scientists in other universes doing the same thing. Our universe would instantaneously become a sand dimension of infinite scale. That’s leaving room for only one interaction, where in true concept there would be infinite. tl;dr the word “infinite” makes everything -blam!-y-wucky
To answer that, we first need to talk about parallel universes
3 Respuestas
Is this an RP thing or just a fun story? If it’s an RP thing, then you shouldn’t presume how the fundamental laws of the universe work. As a shared RP, you don’t have the authority to design the world yourself. If it’s just a fun story, not bad, but you should think of a more natural way to deliver the exposition. Generally speaking, having some bloke stop & tell you the entire backstory of the universe is much less interesting than having to learn it as the character goes.
