How is being able to get rid of a crap ton of gear that is just sitting in my vault and not being used a "fail"??
Most of my vault IS trash that I'm holding onto for NO other reason than it "might" become relevant when Bungie arbitrarily changes the sandbox with a patch. Its just trash that I'm afraid to get rid of...and now I can finally start throwing most of it out.
I really hope someone take over this company and clean up the mess that is everywhere
They ARE cleaning up the mess. The problem is that you dont' realize that the thing you're fighting to hold onto IS the mess that needs to be cleaned up.
No decent looter-shooter lets you hold onto crap forever....and then drag it through the game forever.

Editado por TheArtist: 10/29/2020 2:51:20 AMWhat does raiding have to do with understanding how a loot system works in a loot game? Nothing. What does being abele to stand in a well and face-tank damage in a GM Nightfall have to do with understanding that no loot game can tolerate letting you infuse loot and drag it behind you forever?? Nothing. You’re making an emotional argument, because you have nothing to say with regards to the issues that I’m raising. You don’t have to like sunsetting, but your not liking it has no bearing in its necessity at this point. Because without it Bungie has basically recreated the problems that nearly destroyed vanilla D2. If they give up powerful weapons without sunsetting, they’ll just recreate the problems that pinnacle weapons and suer-regen exotic armor made for the game. And either way people will get frustrated, bored and eventually quit.

Editado por MONKEYGOTRABIES: 10/27/2020 8:30:31 PMNo, it doesn't have to be. No one ever said that new weapons should always kill more quickly. You're the only one here making that assertion, because what you're actually defending is Bungle's lack of desire or capacity to innovate with new ideas. Power creep only speaks to vertical evolution which conveniently leaves out horizontal evolution - weapons that aren't more effective but are equally effective through different avenues, ie. new and interesting perks and entirely new archetypes. If sunsetting is absolutely necessary then it means that all that can be done with weapons is increase dps. It means that not only are you defending a plateau in innovation, but you're defending reissued, reskinned and renamed items because weapons have reached a dead end.

People, for the love of God, stop saying, "KellyGreen," three times while looking into a mirror in a dark room.

My only issue with sunsetting is how it handles the weapons right now. I have 2 Last Perdition pulse rifles. One has Firmly Planted and Kill Clip. The other has Threat Detector and Kill Clip. The first one is better imo. They both have the same thing on the side of it but the one is 1060 max and the other is 1360. I was planning to use one in pve and possibly iron banner do to my bygones sunsetting. I just find it weird that the same weapon has different dates. So I'll have to settle for the 2nd one instead of getting to use my first one. It kinda sucks, especially since it's the same gun. Other then that my vault is only for sentimental values. Mostly yr1 stuff and a couple god rolls I plan to keep incase of a meta change. I'll keep it because I really don't run out of space. If your not going to ever use a weapon you shouldn't get to upset over it. I still have my yr1 ldr and old legendary gear in d1. I can still use it in the game. Same goes for d2. You can still it in the game. And let's be honest were you really going to use those old guns you haven't touched in months in the raid or iron banner even though you haven't touched them when they were usable do to the "sandbox". If you didn't care for them then, why did you keep it and why are you upset you won't be able to use it in the content you never used them in?

With respect, this is part of the reason why Destiny players are always unhappy when the game changes. Bungie is doing this to SET UP how sunsetting will work moving forwards: Gear is infusion capped based on when they appear in the game....and the cap is sett where Bungie thinks the cap will be 12-15 months into the future. Whereas the player base that is always unhappy is always looking at the changes in terms of how it DISTURBS things right now....and affects things that are in the game's PAST. If you're constantly looking BACKWARDS, what someone is doing LOOKING FORWARDS is always going to confuse and frustrate you. Yes, it will be awkward NOW...because none of the systems and gear in the game were designed with Sunsetting in mind. So introducing it to the game is going to be painful. But the way the are doing it is the best way to make that system run simply and smoothly GO FORWARDS.
Bungie is doing this to SET UP how sunsetting will work moving forwards: Gear is infusion capped based on when they appear in the game....and the cap is sett where Bungie thinks the cap will be 12-15 months into the future.
Which is completely unnecessary based on the way the game HAS to be balanced and the frequency with which new loot HAS to be introduced. People are paying for seasonal updates. That means that every season there HAS to be new loot. Otherwise people have no reason to play. This gear HAS to fit within the type/archetype/trait/perk model. That means that when something is broken, it HAS to be adjusted as soon as possible. So for sunsetting, as they have implemented it, to work, the game would have to set the power cap based on the seasons, NOT based on a 12-15 month cycle. The game would have to make upgrades a faster and more organic part of the game. NOT based on high end material farming. Why? So that you could get the most benefit from the gear you obtained for the most amount of time. Thus making the hunt for it somewhat meaningful. Then, maybe over time, people would get used to the SEASONAL chase for loot. However, even then, it wouldn't be a very good system because of the horizontal nature of Destiny loot. Champions, artifact mods, etc. Are all potential ways to create a vertical(and seasonal) power climb while still respecting the players time and investment. There is no scenario where a 12-15 month cycle on generic world drop gear, that can and will be re-introduced to the game at any time, makes sense.

I’m convinced, he said another game has done it so it’s obviously the right call. There’s definitely no chance that this is the single worst decision bungie has ever made. There’s no chance what so ever that sunsetting ruins all incentive to farm weapons and armor. Actually my mind has been opened up so much by what he said that I saw into the future, I saw a dwindling player base, content creators are leaving left and right, all encouragement to farm weapons and armor is gone and everyone on this forum thread including kellygreen and even more has quit the game. Needless to say, I can’t wait. (The sarcasm is off the charts if you can’t tell)
-
Yep....and what you're doing is also called a "Strawman Argument". You take a ridiculous distortion of what someone said, and then proceed to argue against that. Because its simpler and easier than actually engaging with that they DID say in a prinicipled, rational manner in good faith. See it all the time in political ads.
-
Well there’s no point in trying to actually have an argument with you. I’ve had multiple arguments with you about sunsetting and they have always ended when I asked why we need it and you stopped responding.

Editado por TheArtist: 10/27/2020 8:27:12 PMBecause the answer never changes, because the facts of the situation don't change.....and after 6 months I'm tired of saying the same things over and over again...with the same results. As I've come to understand that no amount of facts or explanations will change people's minds on this, or quell their anger. Hell, the sheer fact that nothing is going to change this because its less than 2 weeks to Beyond Light hasn't even slowed this down. That's how irrational this has all become. Continue to complain instead of just playing the changes and see what you actually think of what has actually happened to the game. Instead of getting caught up in a storm of "What ifs"?

Still not an explanation...
-
True. But will a sufficiently skillful and detailed explanation: 1. Persuade you to be in favor of it? Or... 2. Help you to understand Bungie, and those who see it being necessary. So you can find it easier to be tolerant and respectful in your disagreement? Unless you can honestly answer “yes” or even just a “maybe” to just one of those questions, then there is no point to my providing you with one. Not when there dozens of posts on this forum where I’ve addressed this before.
-
Still. Not. An. Explanation.
-
And you’re not going to get one until you answer my questions. Just that simple.
