*Almalexia will leave the tent that she has taken residence in and approach the doors to the house. Seeing her friend place his iron visage upon his head, she shall do the same. Hers too resembles the aggressive and stern face of a god, but molded out of ebony and not brass. Two recurved tusks protrude from the lower part of the mask, like those of a boar, and fangs hang from the lower lips of the mask like that of a snake. It seems to connect perfectly with the smooth form of her pointed crown. And so she will approach, the extravagant garments she wears cleaned from the blood of her fights for the party, yet a peculiar but plain belt still rests around her waist.*
Chain 7
The mummy does not respond. Diedra descends the stairs to join you. Her eyes glow violet as she examines the bodies. "Strange magic at work here..." her eyes follow something you cannot see, then she points to the room off to the side, "They seem to be bound to something within that chamber. Though, I don't recommend waking them up..."
-
“Perhaps you are right. Although if we slay them now they can’t wake up later or ever for that matter.”
-
She shrugs, "Kill them while they sleep?"
-
“And then they can’t wake and haunt this world. I do not see what is wrong with that. If we are ambushed by these very undead on our way out, we might not survive.”
-
"If you insist," Diedra sends forth two blasts of shadow at two of the slumbering dead and they fall instantly.
-
“That was quick. Now let’s go!” *I follow her through the crypts, preparing a spell for any undead I may find.*
-
There were another 7 left, but they're not going to fight back and will most likely fall from a single hit, so let's just say you do them in and move forward!
Diedra steps out onto the balcony and looks out into the darkness, her shoulders slump a bit.
-
*I approach her and look beyond the balcony.* “Is something wrong?”
-
Chain 6 I had responded to myself by mistake
The other side of the stairs are not too far, you could leap it with Athletics or Acrobatics. Diedra begins tearing her dress into a skirt for better mobility.
-
*I will get the ten feet of distance needed for a long jump and leap with acrobatics. That’s a 10 for the check.*
-
You just barely cross the gap, stumbling a bit on the other side. Diedra leaps and lands gracefully behind you.
-
Once we are both across I shall continue onwards, using my sword as a light. “Quite a party this was. It’s odd how these type of events never go how they were advertised.”
-
"Well there were a few parties... of sorts..." she looks down into the dark and her eyes widen as a bolt of flame streaks past her face!
-
*I start speeding up my pace, trying to see what just shot the bolt of fire.*
-
You hear a cackling below and look down to see a flaming skull floating in the center of the tower. It then fires another two bolts of flame, one at you and one at Diedra! (12 to hit for 9 fire damage!)
-
*I step to the side, narrowly avoiding the burst of flame. I will extend a hand in retaliation, saying a word of divine power and sending a guiding bolt of light at the skull. 18 to hit for 15 damage:*
-
You dodge the bolt, Diedra isn't as lucky, then you both extend your hands and fire a barrage of spells at the Flameskull! Your divine light and her two blasts of shadow strike the Skull and it cackles a bit less enthusiastically! The Skull glows brighter and spits a larger ball of flame at the both of you, but Diedra hisses an incantation, curls her hand into a fist, and the Fireball is snuffed out!
Basically she Counterspelled a Fireball.
Editado por ImaDrizzit: 10/19/2020 3:12:33 AM*I will start looking for a quick way down to the creature while we continue our barrage of magic. As I do, I shall press my hands together before bringing them up to my shoulders and then back down summoning a line of sacred fire upon the creature. DC 18 dexterity save for 19 damage on a fail.*
-
It succeeded! Does it take half damage then?
-
No, it’s just a cantrip so it only takes damage on a fail.
-
Ah, well Diedra finishes it off with another couple of Eldritch Blasts. Ine misses but the other strikes and the Skull falls to the chamber below!
-
“Let’s get moving quickly now, there’s probably more where that came from.” *I dash onwards, preparing a spell in my mind in case I come across more foes.*
-
Reaching the bottom of the stairs, you come to a circular chamber with 13 hollows within the walls, separated by columns with lit torches. All but four of the hollows contain a standing, mummified corpse gripping a rusty weapon of some kind. The remaining hollows have passages within, one leading to a small lit room, across from it another leads to a balcony, and the last lead to stairs that curve deeper into the mountain.
-
“Before we progress onwards we should consider our path carefully.” *O shall use my paladin abilities to sense if the corpses are just here because we are in a crypt or if they are actual undead.*
-
They are, infact, undead! All of them. "We could make a run for one of the other sets of stairs, or lure them out and up these stairs to dispatch them. I don't know what lies beyond the other paths, but I'd rather nott risk being cornered.
