Scout rifles have been untouched for so long. They need to feel as good and snappy in pvp as other weapons. They suck. And they were almost fine before their very first nerf, or they could have been after everything else got buffed. They need a zoom decrease or something. They're just so sluggish. Sure I'm that guy complaining because I like scout rifles, but they've gone untouched for what, going on a couple years now?
EDIT: Wow I didn't expect to get so much feedback on this post. Based on what people are saying, my opinion is that the best changes would be to decrease their zoom, make them snappier, and revert them to Destiny 1 damage values. Perhaps the aim assist nerfs they got from year 1 and beyond should remain the same. We don't want them overpowered, we want them to be competitive, and formitable at midrange. Overall, scout rifles just need to feel good in pvp. They don't need to be easy to use.

1 RespuestaI don't care if scouts aren't the best meta weapons. I love em regardless. The only way for crucible players to consider them is if they are the best ttk weapons. In which case you are forcing a meta. I you believe all weapons should kill as quickly as each over, then you remove the skill gap. To be clear: I would like to see them given a little love, BUT, I do not agree with the 600+ people that replied "all of the above" because you are essentially asking for a master of all trades. with little - no tradeoff

In PvP, they're alright but most maps aren't kind to them, in PvE a whole lot of weapons need changing. The problem is, I doubt much will change in PvE as long as Bungie keep using power creep as an excuse for constant nerfs and zero buffs. Sure auto rifles are good in PvE now but I highly doubt that was on purpose, Bungie buffed them for PvP if anything. Bungie didn't nerf snipers just for PvP either, they nerfed snipers because we were using them in PvE, PvP was just affected by it.

They could probably use a small buff, but the larger problem is that there is all of one map where a scout is at all viable for the average player and that is Widow's Court.

When is the last time anyone used Skyburners Oath? Scouts are broken, they had a massive 20% stealth nerf way back when they wanted to push so many dams exotic hand cannons down our throats. They eventually gave them 10% back after the community called them out and they are still trash and their excuse "they're safety weapons, we don't want to promote killing from far away behind cover."

Scouts are fine, trust me. The maps in D2 just don't favor them at all. There are a few outliers like Widows court and Equinox, but Equinox got removed so... Yea it's really the maps and having to deal with Autos which are 10x as easy and more effective in most cases

Maps that don’t contain 90-100% cqc areas. Need actual 6v6 size maps with diverse landscapes where all guns are viable. Maps are just not big enough in PvP for scouts to shine. Also a small PvE buff to damage for scouts too.

I would love to see scouts improved as I love my MIDA so much, however, scouts when they're in a good place can cause issues with viability of snipers and pulses. It's a sticky wicket.

Make them always have a chance to stagger foes without hitting their weak point unlike other weapons.

1 RespuestaIn my opinion this is what should be done with scouts: 1. 15% damage increase on all archetypes. 2. Higher flinch on all archetypes. 3. 10% more ammo in mag on all archetypes. The only thing that is making them less viable is the way maps and arenas are made. You can still be very successful with them, but they cater to a very specific play-style. Most maps and arenas are close quarters. Any long lanes are thin and mainly cater to sniper rifles.
