Yeah, I did look at EA's history. Did you see the dump their stock took after how badly Battlefront 2 was received by customers? Normally when a new game comes out, a video game companies stock goes up because sales will push speculators to believe that company will have a higher dividend pay out. EA was at 112.75 the day before Battlefront's release. It didn't stop going down until December 29 where it bottomed out at 105.06 for a drop of 7%. in comparison, the S&P500 went up 3% over that same time period. So, EA knows that their stock drop wasn't because the economy took a dump over that time period, they know their company's value took a dump. And at present, they have said there will be no season pass or microtransactions. I, personally, believe that they will change their mind on season passes because most players are willing to pay for new content; especially if that new content is good. I don't believe they will change their mind on microtransactions and loot crates because EA doesn't want to piss off their stockholders... its a good way for members of the board to lose their jobs.

  • Anthem has the same microtransactions that Destiny has: vanity stuff. Also, like Destiny, I believe all of it can be gotten from playing in-game. The only exception to this might be the Mass Effect vanity. There isn't any 'buy loot crates, get better gear faster' option in Anthem. And considering the already mentioned history, I don't think EA is going to try it again. Especially considering that some countries are declaring 'loot boxes' as unlawful gambling. The Netherlands and Belgium have already done so. When you consider that has happened and EA would face a serious problem if some countries didn't have to deal with loot crates while others do, I don't see pay-to-win microtransactions happening. Only time will tell.

... Well you can also purchase crafting materials, and I think they are going to release Anthem half assed so their quarter doesn't look like shit...
not included in the DLC
•
Well you can also purchase crafting materials
From what I've gathered about Anthem, the game's 'economy' will still be loot driven. Many people who have played the game have described the loot system to be very similar to Diablo's. In Diablo you can craft weapons and armor, loot drops are generally better long term... so I don't think that's going to be an issue.
and I think they are going to release Anthem half assed so they their quarter doesn't look like shit...
Anthem has been delayed multiple times. And this would be a bad quarter to drop a game in. Kingdom Hearts 3 just dropped and we are still in the post Christmas quarter where people are paying off the debt they incurred buying Christmas gifts. Everyone knows this quarter is shit compared to every other quarter because of the post-holiday drought. But you could be right on the timing. The VIP weekend showed that Anthem has some performance issues; but, I've also been around a long time and I've seen games have a shitty open play weeks before launch and then have a decent launch. I'm not worried about Anthem's launch or the quality of game. EA might be publishing it, but I know who developed it... and Bioware isn't known for putting out bad games. Also, the development team is the one that made Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. Again, a team that's already demonstrated they know what they are doing.
