A game doesn't die from other game releases, it dies from bad management, bad customer service and treating your playerbase as suckers to be milked. While D2 isn't dead in the true sense of the word, it smells necrotic, it has to have regular chemo treatments (P2W packages to get the suckers to part with their hard-earned), blood transfusions (free access to the base game to try and pull more players in), lots of vitamin supplements (events that give it a temporary boost but it would have been better served by a more healthy diet of carrots not sticks). It will linger on as it will be plugged into life support (white knights and fanboys that refuse to accept its had its day and that will keep throwing cash at the ever increasing P2W packages as its playerbase numbers keep declining and the only place to get more cash is from the remaining playerbase, which will decrease the playerbase), the slow spiral down like a toxic treatment that keeps it alive for a little longer but actually makes it a little worse each time.

I played the closed alpha of Anthem and as a big Destiny fan I think Anthem could dethrone Destiny. Seriously it was really fun and BioWare is going Deep with the Loot, and pushing towards builds that work with Javelins/Ultras/abilities/guns EA have my attention. Obviously this may change on what actual content arrives with Anthem but I am excited to fly around as Iron Man on an alien world again. There is an Anthem beta coming out soon and I encourage the fans Destiny to give it ago.

Red Dead launched, Destiny still has a high player base. First hour of 76, Destiny still has high player base. You can't kill a game unless its next level garbage. Numbers will drop, but they will come back for content. Its no different than other games. Just admit it, its hard to kill Destiny.

Well it may die for me when borderlands 3 comes out but will shall see.

Competition isn’t limited to multiplayer games. I can’t wait for Kingdom Hearts 3 and Devil May Cry 5. Easily more anticipated than more D2 content

I wouldn’t worry about Anthem. They are about to cut the dwindling PVP population down even more with the new 2 week suspensions over connectivity.

They dont need too. Bungie and this community will do it.
