Pinnacle Crucible weapons

I understand having something powerful to strive for is a good thing, but having weapons that have the fastest TTK only available to players that can get to a certain pvp comp rank is incredibly frustrating for the average player. There is literally no gun that I can compete with. To exacerbate the issue, the players that have guns like Not Forgotten are generally good pvp players so it’s almost like a double whammy! Player who is better than me + has a gun that kills quicker than mine at all ranges! Would it not be better to make the reward an emblem to show off kinda like trials in D1? The current system just creates a larger delta between the highly skilled and lesser skilled.

As a handcannon lover, it sucked that I'd never acquire luna/NF because I stopped playing crucible, and especially the broken mess that is comp. However, as an average player, there are options to counter luna/NF.
There is literally no gun that I can compete with. To exacerbate the issue, the players that have guns like Not Forgotten are generally good pvp players so it’s almost like a double whammy!
The gun doesn't make a player good, the player makes a gun good. I played plenty of trash players with luna/NF. Now granted they weren't as many as there are now (I uninstalled early in Forsaken), but there are guns that can and do compete with luna/NF. I ran vigilance wing and a trust with snapshot and rampage and did just fine.
Would it not be better to make the reward an emblem to show off kinda like trials in D1?
No because some people are mostly carried through comp to luna/NF, why would an emblem be any better?
The current system just creates a larger delta between the highly skilled and lesser skilled.
Yup, so you have really 2 options. You can do what I did for the longest time and hold out and hope things get better, or you can save your sanity, uninstall and move on to better games.

    • Guns like Redrix/Mountaintop are what pinnacle guns should be imo. Weapons that have their niche and add different elements to your gameplay. Lunas/NF are just near constant DPS. Very forgiving weapons that have rendered most other choices obsolete. Can't bring myself to use these guns anymore as it's just so incredibly boring for me. And Erentil is my baby lol. Bungies kinda dug themselves a hole with this, and it will be interesting to see how they keep those without either gun pacified. On one hand, they'll be happy that people are chasing the weapons but I doubt they want it to be so dominant, and be the only thing some people will run. I think they will get nerfed tbh, although I'm not sure how they can do that without completely butchering it.

      • Vanilla D2 was incredibly boring and bland because there was no skill gap, no out plays and no good guns. Skill gaps are good, so are strong weapons.

There’s lots of good choices to counter LH and NF, but I understand that sometimes its feels otherwise because of their skill level. I have Luna’s howl but I’m not quite good enough to snag a NF. That being said, Ace of Spades with memento morri active has a faster ttk than either weapon. Any decent pulse rifle can out-range them, and high impacts have a similar ttk. There ARE viable choices, but I can appreciate your frustration.

        • Fatest TTK? That isn’t true... I could do the obvious shotguns for example but pretty sure someone said Spinning up Suros kills faster by a little bit. And (yes it’s easy to use) people have said it’s high risk high reward. Miss one of the first two crits and its average at best. I don’t find that difficult but people have been saying that

Weapon choice for PVP is not the main factor contributing to your own skill! I actually enjoy and commend bungie for Pinnacle PVP weapons and i wish there were more of them. Strikes and raids AKA PVE modes get waay more dedicated weapon rewards so why shouldnt PVP? I spend the majority of my time playing PVP and stay away from PVE if im not trying to grind a certain weapon. I find no fun in grinding AIs just for a finish in Destiny. Lunas Howl was too easy to get. I solo'd for it and am currently working towards NF. There are still other meta weapons that can outgun the pinnacles so i dont see any issue here. If youre not good at pvp then I don't see why not having pinnacle weapons would be an issue for you. If players spend hours playing PVP a week, they should get rewarded amd rightnow the reward suck for pvp. Shax hands out the same BS weapons and armor and ranking up gives the same BS... Innovate that shi* bungie!

            • As much as it frustrates me, and as much as i hate to admit it, Crucible weapons are made for the Crucible. I do not like it, i despise this decision on Bungie's part, but i cannot blame them, nor anyone else, it is a fitting reward that takes a lot of skill and time to achieve. Granted, there are a lot of people getting carried by friends, some even paying for them. I stay away from the Crucible, with weapons like these, and players like these, it's a place where i do not belong. I barely go to get my daily/weekly powerful gear from there. Sometimes skip it entirely. What i'm trying to say is, you have 2 options, either fight through it, grab some skilled friends, maybe LFG with some people, grab your own Luna's Howl if it's still available (idk) or, do as Zavala says. If you cannot find a way forward there's no shame in retreat, better to save your light to fight another day. Stay strong Guardian.

              • I get what youre saying but who would reach 2100 or even 5500 for an emblem. Why? I have lunas. Got to 4900 last season. Wont be setting foot back in there for a while. I dont look forward to things like trials with tons of NF and Luna teams.

              • There are many counters and other primaries that can reach the same time to kill. Lunas at the very least should be achievable for average players due to its easy quest. You are not engaging properlly as both lunas and not forgoteen wont achieve a 3 tap further than 34 meters. Hope that clears it up
