I used to log on every. Single. Day to play d1 whether it was heroic strikes to kill some time or sinking an evening into the raid. Destiny 2 is the opposite i log on stare at the map and log off. I signed in today speedran the NF and felt literally no incentive to play any further.
I think the issue for me is multifaceted:
The weapons system change. Why though? The only reason i can see was to extend playtime buy stopping people burn bosses with snipers and rockets together. Pvp should not have been a factor in this change, however i fear it was the sole contributor
Token system... its -blam!-ing stupid if i run the raid i would like to rewarded in the raid not be given tokens to then pass on to some one else for a chance at a reward... wtf bungo.
Fixed rolls should have meant more weapons in general... nope same as d1 but no perk rolling allowed so no need to chase anything.
Pvp, i never did trials because it wasnt a mode i enjoyed, iron banner however was and the added level advantage (miniscule or not) felt worth it. Neither of d2's end game pvp modes have level advantage so whats special about them now? In b4 reskinned weapons and armour.
Level cap. Either ive played this game far too much or it is way to easy to hit level cap. Also level cap doesn't seem like it is anything more than an arbitrary number now. By level cap i mean 300 not 305 as there is no need to be 305 other than to say you are 305.
Raids. For this im only comparing VOG and levi because they are both the first raid releases for each title. Theres absolutely no comparison tbh VOG is a masterpiece in design and playability. It has multiple boss encounters and a sense of progression as you move through. Levi has one boss... one boss. We levelled up to 300 to face... one boss. Not only that the way that the (lets call them) trials set by calus switch each week which for me is a cop out. You can introduce variety without just changing the orders of tasks. Also having to redo each door is just tedious and repetitive and feels like bad design as it disrupts the flow of the game.
Story... why the -blam!- was ghaul even a thing. A waste of time if you ask me. We fought GODS in d1 literal GODS... who is ghaul except an albino Bane cosplayer that ate one too many subways. At no time was he a threat. Remember first seeing the oryx projection in taken king? So much better than this.
There are other more minor issues that i simply cba to type out
In conclusion im upset and spitting my dummy out because my favourite game seems to have been watered down into nothing and its showing no signs of life
Sad face and rant over

4 RespuestasAll well tread ground by now. I've agreed with it before and I agree with it still. What I don't get it why people keep going back to Taken King as such a high point. It was the end of elemental primaries, damage falloff at distance was introduced as a new mechanic, the beginning of the "one gun type over all" shifting meta with hand cannons disappearing from use unless they had maxed range to combat the new damage falloff that affected them the worst. And the story aside from the first mission was fair at best, with Oryx being a suped up Crota. For anyone tired of the Hive, it was a big sigh. I remember wishing they'd left things like they'd been in House of Wolves.

I will be firing up d1 this week for sure. Can't take another second of iron banner, public events or D2 in general.
-
1 RespuestaAgreed, destiny2 is no longer enjoyable. I actually logged into d1 and enjoyed it more than d2
-
1 RespuestaJust tell Luke smith I’m done with D2 till the DLC comes out- I gotta lot of fun and catching up to do on D1.

I couldn't agree more. I've hung up my Destiny boots for a while as I feel that only by not playing can I show my disappointment in a meaningful way. I really want to like this game, I think the world and graphics design are good. The folks who did the level design (apart from raid) did a great job. The lost sectors can be worth exploring just for the visuals - certainly not for the under levelled loot. The sandbox designers should be pissed off at the economy team as this is where much of the problems reside. Tokens, not a terrible idea if it meant anything past level 20 or if level progression with a particular faction made a difference. So much is wrong that shouldn't have been. Systems should have been built upon and improved, not discarded. (vault, private PVP, strike scoring, larger crucible matches, crucible modes, bounties). At launch D2 was a good game for a week or two, perhaps 3 or 4. It should have been a good game for 3 or 4 months. I wonder how many would still be playing if it was free? I certainly played longer than I wanted to justify the expenditure (and for the social aspect, Deej wasn't completely wrong) I'll be back later once things have inevitably improved.
-
i am the same as you, load up D2 sit there and i really dont want to play a damn thing. Those bastards conned us
-
4 RespuestasReally hope the Bioware is keeping an eye on how horrible Bungie is doing. Hope Anthem is everything Destiny should be. Time to just move on past Bungie.
-
Gaul was there to introduce us to calus which will lead into next dlc. I also play quite a bit all characters 305 but most player's don't have the time to devote the hours a day I play.
-
I'm happy that d2 is f*cken awful it has made me hate it this game so much I've finally have the chance to play new game that I'd never play and revisit. Only play when I get pesteres into doing something. Was sort of happy about prestige Leviathan for hopes of new armour and weapons but no just shit ass cosmetics.

5 RespuestasNo lie, I'm bored as hell with it, regret buying deluxe..... i like the old orbit ui, you actually knew of things to do and weren't confused or overlooked anything.... i haven't even done the raid because i feel like there is no point... i was a weapon chaser, now I'm retired and waiting 1 more day for gt sport to be released. Pvp needs more maps and options to pick game type before i come back. Snipers and rockets are not on the same tier either. Having 2 primary weapons is stupid.
-
This. Bungie please read. Obv you did it once, get it back together I stopped playing after a week. I thought this game would last me for months on end... you know like D1
-
I really wanted to like this. And it's ok. But I bought the collector's edition, and I swear that cheap little Cayde-6 figurine mocks me every time I see it. I'm still trying to figure out who came up with the stupid weapon upgrade system, locking it to the same type. And you can't use another class's armor to upgrade? That used to be the benefit of multiple characters. Our sparrows suddenly don't have horns? Our shaders suddenly work once? The Farm got tossed aside like garbage, when I thought it was kinda cool. The strikes feel too long, and we are back to square one since we only have a couple to choose from. Coldheart seems cool, till you realize a good auto rifle will outdamage it. They push submachine guns and sidearms on us with exotics that benefit their use, but why? I used to like iron banner. I could only deal with getting to level 5 this time. I do like fast travel, and a few things. The scenery, for the most part, is gorgeous. Skinning weapons is nice. The elemental match of shields effect is cool. Failsafe should be the replacement for my nolanbot.

Spitting your dummy out? Wtf
-
Not quite, because you are still here talking about it.
-
Good gods this hurts because it's true. I just logged in and now 30 min later im not even motivated to finish doing the nessus flashpoint because Im just going to get the same weapons again and no matter what armor you find appearance is basically the only major difference. Mods are a joke so far. The consumable shaders are just a minor slap in the face compared to the rest of the issues.
-
Good speech, and well said. I thought I was the only one that thought the Levi game show was pathetic and the story was pants and the weapons are pointless and the crucible is mundane and iron banner was tediously fun draining..... did I miss anything 🤔 such a poor job and feel like bungie stole £350,000,000 pound 😡
-
Try me Iron Banner ... I get potatoes for teammates, the other team of trials emblems gets SirDimetrious lmfao, can't make this stuff up.
-
I feel you man. I'll get on and play 2 games of competitive and end up at the tower just staring into the abyss like, what happened..? :'( d1 alpha player.. miss the old days.
-
who is ghaul except an albino Bane cosplayer
Just take my upvote
-
I like how people say crucible takes more skill yet team shotting is the only way to win
-
yea the weapon system is the exact reason i hate destiny 2. and that it takes no fun skill just team shooting. i’m done
-
the raid is sort of like a glorified prison of elders. damn. that just hit me after reading this. what a shitty realization
-
The destiny 1 story was rushed and unfinished, Bungie had years to perfect the story but even then it felt rushed, yeah let's do chores to bring the vanguard back together whoops they're weak so let's kill Ghaul ourselves, like what. What was the point of all that. Crucible is alright, the 4v4 aspect is growing on me but then teams of 4 who think quick play is the ultimate test of skill start sweating up the maps ugh. Iron banner is a complete joke, I literally got 4 capes is a row.... Raid is ok-ish, I like what they were going with but just doing stupid ass puzzles the whole raid is a massive let down. Also the rewards suck ass The only thing this game has over D1 is scenery
-
2 RespuestasVisually, the game doesn't look as nice. The EDZ is probably their best work in the current game. Venus and the moon were better.
-
1 RespuestaYeah this game sucks

9 RespuestasThis is such an original thread. Probably the first one I have seen like this.
