Sound off in the comments, as I would like to see what the community thinks about this.
For me, ToC has ruined any excitement I used to get out of getting an Exotic drop. After TTK, Exotics stopped feeling rare and elusive and they now just feel like glorified legendaries. I understand that ToC was made to counter frustrating RNG, and I'm not defending the loot system in year 1. But if you think about it, Exotics aren't really hard to get even if you take ToC out of the game.
Let's think here.
You can get Exotics from Nightfalls, Raid encounters/chests, the Trials Lighthouse chest, Legendary engrams, Xur, and Exotic quests. I probably forgot some but you get my point.
Edit: I didn't get a chance to finish the post since I had to go to class, so I'll finish this.
If we did not have ToC, then Exotics would feel more Exotic, but they also wouldn't be unreasonably elusive.
Edit 2: I'm not saying we should go back to the loot system in year 1, I'm saying we should get rid of ToC.
Edit 3: nigel_the_mole actually proposed a pretty good idea. He said this:
Well, there are two kinds of exotics:
1. Those that only come from 1 source (eq, a quest line, or raid drop), and,
2. Exotics that can drop from many sources (e.g., chests, RNG, 3ofC, Xur, etc).
I'll agree that 3ofC had devalued the second pool. There were very few, if any, I got originally from 3ofC. (Had all the Exotics prior to 3ofC release, and can only specifically recall 1 of the newer ones from 3ofC. Possibly a few more, but not many.)
3ofCs basically was first a road to max light, then a shard factory, then a "why even bother."
But group 1 I actively pursued.
I'd say, for D2, I'd like to see the first group be much bigger.
More quest Exotics. More "achievement" Exotics.
Fewer in the second group.
I realize this makes for essentially two classes of exotics (the "hard" ones vs the "easy" ones), but this division already exists. But it allows casual players to get some without having to do specific efforts, and the better stuff to be a bit more effort to achieve.
TL;DR - more exotics from quests or specific points in raids.
I say get rid of them. Leave exotic drops for endgame. It shouldn't be easy to get every single exotic in the game, from casually running strikes and doing quests, but almost impossible to get a rifled luna

2 RespuestasEditado por loudenkl: 4/21/2017 3:45:40 PMMyself - I'm indifferent to this whole "remove 3oC from the game" bandwagon, but will agree that there should be more quest-driven exotics. It's much more satisfying to complete a quest and receive an exotic for your 'hard work' (relative in terms) than rely on RNG - regardless of using a 3oC or not. To me - that is how exotics should have been handled from the start.
-
13 RespuestasJust don't use ToC's. No one said that you have to use them And getting exotics in year 1 was more exciting because thats when we had exotics that were actually good instead of exotics like First curse or Ace of spades. ToC cant and dont make these exotics feel anymore mundane than they already are

4 Respuestas
For me, ToC has ruined any excitement I used to get out of getting an Exotic drop.
Then don't use them? Or are you another player that has no self control so wants Bungie to remove an optional item because you can't stop yourself from using it?
-
The Cabal did that for us.
-
3oC are fine. Bungie and nerfs ruined exotics, not 3oC.
-
Yes please white gear is actually more rare to find than exotics
-
Only if the exotics are great again, otherwise no. We'll need infusion fuel.
-
Agreed, made the weekly lockouts alot less exciting
-
Keep them
-
Never gotten an exotic whilst using 3oC. Really doesn't make a difference to me.
-
1. No. 2. No. 3. No. 4. Add A LOT more and different exotics for D2 to be fair. Can vary on drop rate.
-
Sound off in the comments, as I would like to see what the community thinks about this.
I'm not normally against really good suggestions with good evidence backing it up but if the ToC problem is really getting to you, don't use them. Their mainly in the game so people like me with terrible luck have something to grind for so I can collect what I need. Yes ToC has not been the best, but its a great way to get Exotic Shards and Exotics that you have yet to get if you still don't have any one exotic.

1 RespuestaEditado por Oryx is my dad: 4/21/2017 12:48:03 PMI feel like the people who say "remove ToC" don't know that it only increases the chance of getting an exotic by reducing the RNG. It's not guaranteed and the drop rates in year one were abysmal from what i hear. Also, you don't have to use ToC so stop complaining.

Editado por bil_botz: 4/21/2017 1:28:51 PMYou can't blame 3oc for the lack of "exotic" feel about exotics. Blame all the nerfs, or just the poor perks of the exotic weapon. Back in year one there where less exotics but atleast they were useful! Vex, OP for pvp fair enough needed a nerf. Got over nerfed into the ground and made useless. Suros, best exotic auto in pvp. Got nerfed into the ground. Thorn, best exotic hand cannon. Got nerfed, left behind in Y2, brought back in Y3 and was given ANOTHER nerf and made even worse. Hawkwoon, the things had more nerfs then the whole dam game. Plan c and pocket infinity, caused the ENTIRE fusion rifle family to be nerfed with affected the Vex making it even worse!! AND pocket infinity hasn't even been brought to Y3!! Truth, no one knows why truth got nerfed. I can list Many more, red death, bad juju, tlw, gjallarhorn, invective, ice breaker and mida. Notice how these are all the original exotics? It might be my memory betraying me but I cant think of any y2 or y3 exotic weapons that have been singled out and nerfed..... The main issue I have is all (except gjallarhorn) the problems I could think of are from complaints of the PvP players. It's gone from single weapon nerfs to entire weapon type nerfs, then to class ability nerfs and now ammo nerfs!!
-
I could not care less about getting exotics anymore because of ToC
-
Exotics should be hard to obtain not impossible. They should also feel exotic
-
Honestly I think they should keep ToC but they should add a lengthy hard cool down to them to keep people from just farming. Like 12 hours.
-
While I totally understand the sentiment that is three of coins making it easier for casuals who don't raid to get exotics, I think Bungie should design the game for the people who plan on playing everything. If you don't raid or don't like PVP or PVE then it's your own fault. You can complain about it being hard to get exotics when you play that way but you shouldn't expect the game to change for you.
-
Well bungie could have left the quests in like they were suppose to but they got rid of them when not enough people were get the quest because of RNG. Hell not as many people were getting the thorn when it was re-released because of RING you would have to save up all the shiro bounties you could get after reset do them an hope clicking enough times would drop the thorn bounty. Now just about everyone has it the necrocasim an icebreaker because bungie said screw it. RNG should never be apart of a game that is suppose to give you quest or loot for a reward.
-
I would much prefer that each Exotic have a Quest. Therefore you can judge the grind versus the weapon reward. RNG might be fun, but I had to play for 1,770 hours before I got my second Gjallhorn (I deleted the first one I bought from Xur in week 2 - long dumb story) as a RNG drop during Nexus NightFall.

1 Respuesta
Heroic Strikes
The only way to get exotics from heroic strikes is from 3oC, idiot.
-
3 RespuestasMake exotics more exotic, so people want them. Increase the drop rate of exotics, they should still be fairly rare however say maybe 1 in 15 or 20 ultras Remove three of coins People will still look for exotic items so we can have the good old days of yearning for guns for days upon weeks like gally or vex.
-
Just created a quick poll on 3oC.No need to say why just want to find out yes or no. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/225642920
-
I agree cause 3 of coins make it way to easy to get exotics now of days and even if the drop rate are horrendous on them it's still a guaranteed exotic every 7 or 8 uses
-
Do away with 3oc and as a suggestion Xur should be killed in the opening cinematics of D2 whilst delivering his suckage to the tower.
