With all this attention on the Owl Sector and the virus that is currently spreading among our Guardians, I feel there is something even more important needs to be addressed. It's something that every single Guardian has ignored until now. Up until this point, every player has believed that this was a straight forward game: you shoot, you loot, and you toot your Sparrow horn in victory. We were all horribly mistaken. The Destiny universe is not one-sided. We Guardians are not allowed to do whatever we want, whenever we want, without consequences.
The first indicator was a Grimoire card--something easily overlooked. In the Cabal 4 Ghost Fragment, the transcript states "Guardians foraging for equipment, dancing, and performing acrobatics with light vehicles". Meaning, the statement describes how we search for loot, dance when we want, and perform tricks on our Sparrows. The Cabal were watching us and actively reported our behavior as players. Might I remind you that the Grimoire, as of now, are the main source of lore for Destiny. This means that the behavior we show in-game has permanently affected the lore of the game.
As I've suggested, this isn't the only indicator either. In the new website that is tracking the spread of the virus that is currently affecting Guardians, under the "Brilliance 3.2" tab of records, section "OS-I6", one of the persons talking say "They're Guardians, Quist. Means the Light has cooked their brains. Haven't you seen them dancing in the Plaza, for no reason, with no music at all?" Again, our behaviors, such as randomly dancing in the Tower, have affected the lore of the game but this time our actions were judged by a character. Negatively, at that. In fact, it could be surmised that our behavior directly affected the handling of the outbreak.
If our actions, as seemingly harmless as they seem, have a direct effect on the world that we are apart of, should we not be more mindful of them? Who's to say that the effects will stop there? What if using items such as Red Death, Thorn, or either of the Ahamkara armor pieces (all of which are heavily scorned by the Vanguard) bring about negative changes to the Tower, such as alienation, increased prices at vendors, less rewards from activities, or even new enemies to be brought upon the Light?
What I'm trying to warn everyone about is this: our actions have consequences. Not only that, but these are permanent effects. They are chiseled into the lore of the Destiny universe. We must be mindful of our actions from here onward. Even small things such as the items we use or actions we make may have enormous influence on the future of Destiny. I encourage everyone to read up on the Grimoire, learn the story of Destiny, and behave accordingly. This is no longer a game. This is our game.

13 RespuestasI've spent a lot of hours reading into this OWL Sector stuff and I think you're on to something. Here's what I've reasoned so far.
it's a £ucking experience and rep boost
Oh no... The little sparkles..... They all turned into tiny Rahool faces!! Help! One million deaths ARE NOT ENOUGH!
-
LOL at this attempt to be all intense and gripping.

3 RespuestasAs intense as this sounds...I'm more concerned with the fact that the Stalker has apparently followed me from the Warframe universe

17 RespuestasI do like what Bungie has done. When Destiny came out, there was no real good "story" and, other than the stranger, there were no real characters. As we all know by now, soon before launch Destiny's story was scrapped and they had to start from scratch. This was a huge setback, but the lack of character gave Bungie a chance that they took, they allowed us to make some characters. Take Rahool for example. He was almost non existent within vanilla. Other than reading a few scripts telling you to recover some artifact for the cryptarcs, he just hung out in the tower. Despite this players came in contact with him every day. Because of this, players gave him a personality based on his actions. He would give out rares and materials from a legendary engram, wasting countless hours of farming. On top of this, when Bungie patched the loot cave, they added "remains" that, when disturbed, would say, "A million deaths are not enough for Master Rahool." These factors led to people making Rahool out to be a greedy, selfish, apathetic asshole. And Bungie rolled with it. When there was that first quest in TTK where you ran around the tower talking to people, Rahool made the snide remark that, "I'm known for giving the best gifts around here." (No, you aren't). While he hasn't been used that much, it is a very obvious direction they're taking with him. Bungie is allowing their players to sort of make stuff up as they go. One of these things is how they act, not the stoic saviors of the system but a bunch of triggerhappy nutjobs who screw around in the face of adversity.

This post has been about how our in game actions have influenced the lore, not about how the lore has influenced the rest of the game. Your original post was about the wrong topic. Yes, I agree with you, there's not going to be a Tower quarantine or shutdown, but that's not what the topic was about.

1 RespuestaI talk to the birds, guess I'm doomed.

1 RespuestaI wonder if the Owl Sector will report the small batch of Guardians that are actively AVOIDING the viruses? Like my three.

13 RespuestasGrimoire card --- Cabal --- The Cauldron Day 69 Ritual went horribly wrong. Or maybe right. These Hive are an abomination. My entire squad dead, sacrificed. I hid under the discarded bodies of lesser beings, radioed for extraction. No reply from command. Stillness followed. I came out from hiding. Then movement. Guardians everywhere. In teams, on their own, killing each other in every imaginable fashion, over and over. I threw myself in a corner stacked with corpses, twisted my face in a rictus of death and played dead, still observing. They... Dance, taunt each other after a kill, as if their fallen comrades could somehow see them from the afterlife. Some repeatedly dip their reproductive organs on top of their kills. Oh god, I've been noticed. He's coming this way. Oh please no by the love of the emperor, he is right on top of my face, why is he starting to crouch? No! Noooooooooooo!

Ok so it's confirmed. The tower falls at the end of RoI and we lose our ghosts by the end of year 3. RIP guardians

It's going to be fine.... Cayde said so.

5 RespuestasActually you make a good point. The owl sector updates are starting to take on a more sinister tone. I'm keeping my guardians virus free. I'm away on holiday when ROI lands and won't be playing until October. I will watch the outcome of this virus with interest.

No one would have believed in the later years of the City age that Gardians were being watched from the timeless worlds of the Bungie corporate offices, no-one could have dreamed that we were being scrutinised as someone with a microscope studies creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. Few Gardians even consider the possibility of notice from others. And yet across the gulf of the net minds imeasurably more amused than ours regarded our dances with envious eyes and slowly but surely they drew there plans to mock us. Or something like that
-
A so called virus that gives you buffs is a bad thing hmmmmm yea I don't think so
-
Oh well, what can you do. Guess I'll just go back to being alone. Although this time I get space herpes to keep me company

1 RespuestaEditado por WormChi: 9/18/2016 9:02:03 AMI think what's funny is players are trying to catch all five because they can, but if you have to do something to get rid of them it will take even longer. Additionally catching 1 was harder than multiples since these are players who were on first. I don't know why players want so many buffs.

32 RespuestasEditado por ALMIGHTY_aPPle_1: 9/17/2016 6:35:35 PMUh no. This game isn't deep. It has no story and your actions mean nothing. Stop trying to make it more than it is.lol Edit: the fanboys have come. Sorry guys, I'm not going to listen to sheep
