Okay so this isn't supposed to be a rant. I know how that turns everyone off to discussion immediately. But I feel I need to share my thoughts on this matter with my fellow Guardians.
The Defender subclass is weak. No if ands or buts. Just to be clear, this IS about K/D, but not in the way you think. Defenders are supposed to have lower K/D in comparison to other classes because we're a support class. Understandable. But I feel as if the defensive capabilities of the class does not justify having one of the lowest average K/D ratios of all subclasses.
Here's what I mean:
1. Other supers will melt the bubble like it's nothing, despite the description of the bubble being "indestructible." Golden gun will two shot it, leaving one to two shots to wreck you and anyone else near you. Nova bomb will pop that crap instantly and kill you and anyone in or around the bubble. And unless you're using Armor, Bladedancers will hand you your butt in that purple dome as well.
2. Why don't Defenders get Sunsinger-like grenade and melee recharge rates during their super? They have to leave the bubble to toss grenades, leaving them open to attacks, and doesn't it make sense that they should be able to actually defend the bubble they put up? How often do you see defenders get out punched in their own bubble? How often have you done it? Too much.
For #1, I just want it to be able to stand up to other supers better. I don't care if I die, so long as it DEFENDS my teammates. It kills me inside when I see warlocks bomb everyone in my bubble, or Hunters destroy my bubble and then turn me and everyone else to ashes.
For #2, I'm just being wishful. If #1 is fixed, I will be the happiest Titan ever even without #2.
Edit: My first point would only apply to Titans with Armor of Light equipped. Also, I'm not asking for invincibility. I'm asking for balance. WoD is a one and done stationary super. Why should it get wrecked by all the roaming supers?

3 RespuestasUse Defender in PVE, Striker in PVP ^ Why would you ever use anything other than Striker in PVP when you can do this? ^
-
1 RespuestaOne thing i hate is that if a defender titan dies his bubble goes with it. Hunters void super doesnt go away like our bu bubbles do. IMO bubbles need to last the duration.
-
1 RespuestaIt's no secret that the Ward doesn't hold up in PvP, but I don't think buffing it is the answer. All of the one-and-done supers fall short compared to the roaming ones, but that is usually made up for in the rest of the kit. Voidwalkers get Blink and Energy Drain (kudos to the sandbox team for finally making that relevant, by the way); Strikers get lightning grenades and Shoulder Charge; Nightstalkers get smoke and Shade Step. Defenders get... what? Force Barrier, which essentially requires you to get a kill with your basic melee? In my opinion, that's the problem. The Ward is what it is, and it has its niche where it's useful, but the subclass has nothing going for it to help where the Ward isn't so great. Magnetic and spike grenades are both the weakest in their respective families compared to their arc and solar cousins. Of the six talents available in the two "neutral" columns four apply buffs to the Ward and only to the Ward. Of the remaining two, Iron Harvest only affects orb generation. Is it any wonder the subclass has nothing to fall back on? To begin, those two grenades need buffs, at least so they live up to their counterparts. That's an easier fix than dealing with the problem in the talent grid. To fix that, they could maybe combine Bastion and Untouchable and add a new talent in the last column, or maybe buff Iron Harvest so that it provides some sort of offensive bonus in addition to the orbs. Regarding the latter, I like the idea of having either Disintegrate kills or Ward activation provide a small amount of heavy ammo. That effect would have to be on a cooldown to prevent it getting out of hand when combined with bubble stacking or Monte Carlo, but I think it could work. In truth, there're probably a lot of things that could work. We've just need to get them to acknowledge that the neutral game sucks, so they'll make some effort to fix it.

2 RespuestasWell duh its more for pve.. not everything is made for strictly pvp..
-
5 RespuestasHow about when armor of light is selected, incoming damage to the bubble is reflected to the shooter :P
-
4 RespuestasEditado por ChaseyCakes: 5/18/2016 4:15:54 PMI think there should be a perk that lowers the strength or makes the recharge rate really low but enables titans and allies to shoot through the bubble as if it wasn't there
-
2 RespuestasI run bubble and have a 2.3 :/
-
they're perfect the way they are. just dont be a bitch and be afraid to leave the bubble. there's a certain play style that comes with defender
-
1 RespuestaNah, they're good. They have many tools to promote different playstyles, which is everything one could wish for a subclass. The problem comes from a community where the majority doesn't want to experiment with different setups and just use what someone else says is best. You should try out the orb spammer build if you want to support your team👍🏻

1 RespuestaI think my Titan is fine.....
-
1 Respuestayup, may as well modify the bubble artwork and paint a big ol' bulls-eye on it
-
It isn't weak.... you just need to adjust to the defensive side of playing... I know because I'm doing the same.. hell if it wasn't for the sleeper simulant quest I most likely wouldn't have started to level my defender subclass
-
15 RespuestasPvE oriented subclass. You just want to make defender op just like everyone else saying it needs a buff, or saying you should be able to fire from inside it. It's fine the way it is. Good Titan players already wreck with defender.
-
1 RespuestaThe defender could use a buff of some sort. Hell, maybe not even a buff, but fix the hit detection at the edge of the bubble. I can't count how many times I melee someone standing on the edge and notice they take zero damage. I will admit that no backup plans with the stronger force barrier perk can make defenders pretty OP.
-
3 RespuestasIt might fail against a lot of supers. It's unassailable by anyone who doesn't have a super unless they decide to come in where you should have a huge upper hand no matter which perk you are using. If you want it to stand up to supers maybe it should be pierceable by sniper bullets. Or do you just want to have your cake and eat it too?
-
6 RespuestasAs a titan main, defender is the most underrated class but in the right hands the defender can be so obnoxious and difficult to play against. I think the bubble is great at where it is right now. If there was a new perk to like throw the bubble or suppressing every opponent inside it would be i wouldnt say op but one of the most used subclasses in the game. It's perfect at the moment in my complete honest opinion. It's just the hardest to use.

9 RespuestasBlade instantly gets wrecked in a bubble especially if the player is wielding a shotgun. It was nerfed to oblivion as it stands now challenging a bubble as a blade dancer is almost near suicide even with hungering blade.

Editado por NovaNeku: 5/18/2016 1:56:18 AMSo u did all this over a class that sh*ts 2 orbs or 3 with crest of lupi while they run u sit in with a shotgun going armor if light or weps with a sniper I rather do bless cause it acually supports even the points u get say support top of that gift of the void aka another brimstone can make orbs which is support. war machine which is really good for situations. Relentless is kinda like a armor of like but not OP or as heavly defensive. gift of the void is worth making u use unbreakable combine in pvp. I don't mind illuminated or untouchable at all iron harvest I don't use alot

3 RespuestasDefender will always be the best class in destiny
-
18 RespuestasSunsinger can destroy the bubble too. :) While in Radiance, shoot the bubble with any gun and throw grenades. It'll pop.
-
10 RespuestasThe Defender offers an awesome neutral game in PvP. You got to know your kit and be really tactical on how you use it. There are plenty of guides on YouTube. The issue isn't with the subclass being weak but with a players gunplay. Defender has no "slaying abilities" other than your grenade and makes you rely on gun skill more than other classes I feel. And the KD reflects that a little more. A gunslinger could rack up to 6 to 9 golden gun kills in a match which would significantly boost the classes KD in the long run if that makes sense.
-
4 RespuestasI think they should add a perk on defender that activates landfall when you pop it
-
3 RespuestasIf you're using Ward of Dawn as a get-out-of-jail-free card to stuff enemy supers, you're doing it wrong. It's a support super to help lock down important areas against conventional weapons and distribute buffs to your teammates, not an "I win" button for rendering Golden Gun and Nova Bomb ineffective. That would be overpowered.
-
3 RespuestasYeah and while you're at it buff spike grenades
-
19 RespuestasYou realize every super can counter every other super in its own way right? Of course the others are going to break it. And you want more kills? Pop it in any high traffic area and people will literally run into it one at a time. You can use the bubble to cap heavy or zones by yourself or revive downed teammates being sniped. You can equip weapons and 1-hit body shot people. You can use blessing and patrol an area with a shield. You can suppress other supers coming towards or into your bubble and use is as cover or a panic safety net. You are just bad with it.

1 RespuestaWeapons of light w increased benefits n glass house helmet makes it last longer...one shot body shot snipers...I bet hawkmoon would wreck too...or first curse
