Two weeks ago today, I was on the interstate heading home from work. From the on-ramp I worked my way to the fast lane. I was running 84mph at that time w/ cruise control set and a Lexus sedan set up "drift" style (ya know with the camber all the way in on the tires looking stupid as -blam!-) was in front of me running the same speed. I started to smell something burning so I let off cruise control and looked at my gauges trying to identify where the smell was coming from. It wasn't me.
The "little drift car that couldn't" suddenly had white smoke bellowing from it. I'm guessing his shitty/cool "camber" job caused his left/front tire to explode. He got squirrelly for about a half a second then went 84mph into the concrete wall/divider for the east/west bound lanes. His car jumped about 2 to 3 feet off the ground when he impacted the wall. When he came back down and hit the ground it slungshot him across 4 lanes to my right.
Then he shot back towards me as an 18-wheeler was barely able to stop in time grazed his driver side/rear quarter panel. I was on the brakes hard once I saw him get squirrelly and lucky the car stopped moving in the lane right next to the one I was in or I would've gotten hit.
This all happened in about 5 seconds. Scarey shit out there. By some miracle nobody else was involved. Check your tires folks and as always:
STAY OUT OF MY WAY!
