Advice for King's Fall Raid

Hello, Guardians! Tonight I will possibly be doing my first ever King's Fall raid and I was wondering if anyone has advice on it? Should my first attempt be on Normal or Hard mode? What type of weapons are best to use? That sort of thing. Obviously I will have the help of my Raid Team but I'd love to be able to go into it with at least some sort of idea as to what I'm doing or what to expect! Thank you! Edit: I DID MY FIRST KINGS FALL RAID!! Well, most of it. Got to the Daughters and everyone went to bed, so I'll finish it tomorrow. What an amazing raid! Thanks for all the amazing tips everyone!

Do normal, it will be less frustrating for you. Normal is very very similar to hard mode. If you master normal mode you'll have an easier time with hard mode. Advice is to communicate with your team mate. Make sure everyone knows what their roles are. Stick with that role until you're familiar with it then switch to a different role so that you are able to do every role (getting gaze, getting aura, relic runner, platform holder, take Dow ogre, etc). But most importantly don't get frustrated and have fun. The most fun I have raiding is watching new players trying new roles and fail miserably. Is any experienced player teaching you? If yes, take advantage of the oppurtunity to ask them and try new things out.

They will try to kill you. Kill them BAAACK. Seriously - First part is just slamming tomb husks and killing adds. Second part is a jump puzzle. Third part (first CP with real rewards) is totems. I won't give a detailed guide, you can find that elsewhere. My advice is, when aura passes from you to someone else, stay long enough to kill the boomer or at least snipe a magazine at it. There is time. Potential rewards, ghost shell, fusion rifle. Fourth part is Warpriest. Use a high impact sniper. Potential rewards, heavy, sniper. Fifth part is Golgoroth. Use a high impact sniper. If you have the worst sniper or lowest light on the team, you may need to hold gaze. Potential rewards, gauntlets, chest, boots. Sixth part is another jump puzzle. Seventh part is sisters. Use Touch of Malice if you have it, else, high impact sniper. Potential rewards, class armor or shotgun. Eighth part is Oryx. Use Touch of Malice if you have it, else, high impact sniper. Potential rewards, primary, helmet or anything else. You can substitute Sleeper for the sniper if desired. Don't use rockets, except maybe on the first part for clearing the cluster of adds in the hall, and sisters for the cluster between the towers. Machine gun is better for most of the raid if you don't use Sleeper.

      • Don't think about hard mode until you've mastered normal. Also, don't go into hard mode without the spindle or malice. They're specific tools for that specific job. Sack up, put in the work, they'll reward your effort in spades.

      • Listen to your teammates. Don't let your mind wander off. Stay focused. After doing it a dozen times it'll be muscle memory and super easy.

      • If its not too late, I'd like to chip in to the tips given by other Guardians! Some of this might seem ordinary and simple logic, but hope it helps. Its the usual things I say to anyone I help through their first time, so hear me out: - Highest light level isn't always the best strategy. You might be using a weapon you don't usually use just because its higher light, over a weapon you are more comfortable with. Don't! The weapon that plays better in your hands, helps the team a lot more than the one you just picked up. However, this little tidbit isn't as important now with the one to one infusion. Aha and with this, I also don't mean start pulling out all your Y1 weapons and think its alright! - If this is your first, play it on Normal and get strategies down. Have your fireteam explain to you mechanics, and tips and tricks for survivability besides the basic "don't die". If you're high enough light and your team is patient enough, they may be willing to take you through Hard. I know I've brought in a few players straight from Normal just because they seemed confident and prepared to take the challenge. - As much as I'm against using only specific weapons, snipers are nearly a requirement here, so pull out a good one. High damage and quick kills, you'll need it to get through the bosses quickly and efficiently. Black Spindle and 1kYS are the most common, but I've seen many others. - Stay calm, and accept any mistakes you make. Raging and quitting does nothing but ensure that you will not finish this raid, it also does nothing but dampen the morale of your fireteam. If you die, say you died. Don't blame it on the lag, because I'm sure it isn't always. There are also portions of the game where death is inevitable, like spawning into the Shade right when it slams the ground, and thats fine you couldn't do anything. Especially on Normal, teams are much more lenient if you accept and learn from that death. - Stick to your position. Rarely will you need to make the decision to take the position of another player without consent of your team, ans usually its in the heat of the moment. For example, you're in middle on the Oryx fight and the runner is already jumping on platforms. All of a sudden, Plate3 gets taken out, and runner is just about to make it. If no one claims it, run over there and jump on that plate! There is no continuing if the plate holder gets taken out, most often it ends up in a wipe. Thats all off the top of my head! I probably missed a whole bunch, and this actually sounds like general information for all raids now that I read it over. Hope it helped somewhat, good luck Guardian!

Do normal first if you can, otherwise join an experienced raid team like mine. I'm American, but I play with Brits so we load up about 8:00 gmt. If you want to add me we'll schedule a raid. As far as equipment goes, all you need is a high impact sniper, the rest can be improvised. Also I wouldn't watch videos and shit, if you can find a good raid team they will give you a quick run down, then you get to see all the awesomeness for yourself as you run for your life.

        • Use whatever weapon you're comfortable with. Don't get your light level as high as possible if it means using weapons not fit for the situation. Try to keep up with whomever is leading the raid. Don't take up a task you're not sure of. But most importantly, let yourself make mistakes. Even with a team of veteran players, it's rare for raids to go without some hitch. So just take your time to learn. The raid isn't going anywhere.

          • I want to give you so many tips and tricks from my experiences but then I think about what it was like to discover all of that on my own before there was YouTube videos on everything. My advice is don't take any advice from here and discover these things on your own, at least the first run through, because that is what makes this game, especially the raids, so amazing. Running a raid blind for the first time is the best experiences I have ever had in a video game.

              • I would learn normal first, it's not the difficulty, it's the mechanics. Ask questions if you don't understand. Set out a couple of hours just incase there are multiple rookies. Learn every position before HM.

                • Do normal so you can learn the basics of the raid. Good weapons are Touch of Malice, red death, Black Spindle, 1000 yard stare, heavy weapon of your choice, and sword for jumping puzzles. Honestly it's all about what you feel comfortable with. For supers Titans use defenders, hunters use night stalkers, and warlock use storm caller for normal since you can be revived and it's amazing for add clearing

                        • Go Normal so you are not constantly just trying to stay alive and will have time to learn or enjoy something. You need a good high damage sniper, preferably a heavy machine gun (rockets will likely get you killed and swords usually mean getting to close to the enemy) and listen very closely to what people are telling you. Lastly, have fun jumping through the "Viagra Room" :)

                              • 1) Watch videos of the fights. 2) Practice jumping. If you main a hunter use bones of Eao. If you use a different class be ready to max your agility or use a weapon that gives more agility like mida or telesto for jumping parts. 3) Let the group know you are new and have them show you what to do. 4) ASK IF YOU DONT KNOW SOMETHING OR YOU ARE UNSURE ABOUT ANY PART!!! 5) Learn how to tell counter clockwise. For the love of God/Buddha/Allah/Yahweh/Gaea/higher power/science, learn to do this!!! 6) Good luck!
