This is a serious question for me, i'm a terrible shotgunner, i can never get the drop on people, i always miss my shots, i always shoot from too far away, i always get melted, i always suck with shotguns. Even if shotgunning never becomes my favourite thing to do, i would at least like to be able to do well while using one. Can anyone give me advice.
EDIT: Wow, thanks for all the great tips everyone, i haven't had much chance to put everything into practice yet (especially sensitivity as i've only raised it to 6 as i usually play on 4) but in the few matches i have played i've been keeping everything you've all said in mind and it has resulted in an overall improvement of my abilities, i think in the few games i had i managed to get 1 10+ kill streak using strictly my shotgun (granted the enemy was pretty bad) but still that is improvement for me as before i struggled to get a 5 kill streak now i'm getting them a little more frequently. I'm hoping i'll be able to really put this information to use during the iron banner this week.

Corners are your friends.

First, don't be a tool and use Invective. That's a no-skill gun. Second, don't use Conspiracy Theory or Party Crashed as a newb. While they are powerful, and have amazing range, that makes them cheap and the slow fire rate is difficult unless you have a deadeye and perfect timing. Any Hakke shotgun is a good beginner shotgun, but make sure that even with rangefinder that you step on their toes before you shoot. If all else fails, Plan C.

2 RespuestasI have friends who are gods with the sniper... They touch a shotgun and are worse than PVE players trying trials of Osiris for the first time. People say shotguns take no skill, they are wrong. Sniping and shotgunning both take skill, it all depends on the players playstyle.

Do you have a shotgun with decent range and impact?
-
I've never had much luck running around with a shotgun. I tend to do better with a shotgun when I'm not using it like a primary weapon. Your party crasher is decent however most people use a range finder shotgun. Also ADSing also reduces your pellet spread. I think it also might just be a case of practice as well.

1. Hope to get a high impact, high range shotgun with perks and attachments that spec for Max range at the expense of something like reload speed. 2. Play with it in PVP until you basically have it's maximum optimal range gauged in your mind at all times. 3. Enjoy

Everything below seems pretty good except for a few people saying don't scope in. I can't speak for the auto shotties, but any semi auto shotgun you should scope all the way in or at least quick scope it. Good luck!

warlock- throw a grenade before entering he gunfight hunter- shadestep around + bones of eao with increased control titan- rush them hard with skating/twilight garrison
-
Find the highest impact shotgun you can, snipe people, not that hard.

The chaperone made me a better shotgunner. That gun made me aiming at heads and gain more accuracy with shotguns. Cqc is all about speed and the ability to handle yourself in a speed situation. The only difference with the chaperone is that you need to take your time to line out your shot, and the fact that you HAVE the time because of it's range. With normal shotguns you need to be faster because of countering shotgunnies.

Trap them at corners. Come across a two on one gunfight and run from it. Most likely will be chased as their confident they will.outgun you. Get to a corner. And camp it. Don't crouch. Don't stand. Hover on the air (it looks like your crouching on radar) literally get the drop on them. Also run and gun. Slide when in open to cover. Cross cross if charging head on. Throw a grenade into the mix

Start with the archetype opposite thd one you want to use. So if you wanna use full-auto get a lockjaw or CT. Vice versa. Practice engaging snipers and people who look really shaky and start backpedaling when they see you. Always be sure to melee if you need to(after a while you wont). Then try engaging in cqc, where moving correctly is extremely important if you dont want to trade. Play on walls and corners(meaning you bait shots and pop off walls when you know a shot is coming to dodge it). It gets really fast paced when you get better. Its way more fun than sniping imo

Practice makes perfect
-
Just like anything it takes practice to get decent with some of the shotguns, try different archetypes to find the one that works for you. Or just run conspiracy theory and point in the general direction of your enemy, no skill required. Or try Patch A, by far my favorite year two shot gun next to my party crasher.

When I used to be a shotgunner, I would rush, and jump and slide randomly as I got close
-
Maybe using a shotgun with high rate of fire and Full Auto perk may help. My Strongbow D has it and it feels like an Invective.

1 RespuestaEditado por Fort: 3/29/2016 1:22:18 AM1. Get a conspiracy theory or a PC+1 with rifled barrel (rangefinder is preferred but not needed) 2. Level up with motes and go into crucible 3. Skate/blink at them from an angle, wait until your about 5-10 feet away and shoot. If you don't kill them, follow up with a melee 4. If you aren't a warlock, TG and shadestep glitch are nice to use to. http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/fort%20oink/video/16093991 http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/fort%20oink/video/15929677 http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/fort%20oink/video/14248674

Just run at them, in a straight line. Works every time.
-
For starters, be a Striker Titan with Juggernaut perk equipped, max out agility and get a Universal Remote. Just bum rush any player with it and pray you got a shotgun kill with it. That way, you can piss off alot of players doing this way
-
Practice in pve using your choice of shotgun until you know what max distance possible for a kill and optimal range for you gun Practice either sliding and shooting or jumping up and aiming down at target with shotgun
-
It's really just knowing when to rush and how much range your shotgun has.
-
Literally pick one up and point in their general direction to kill.
-
I used to be terrible with it. It's something you kind of learn to do. Trial and error lol
-
2 RespuestasBe patient. Don't just fire. Remember it's not like a pulse rifle. Your too trigger happy. Make sure your target is in front of you. No more than 10 feet. I get average of 6 kills per a cruible round with my shotgun alone.

Use a Sunsinger and shotgun melee
