This is a serious question for me, i'm a terrible shotgunner, i can never get the drop on people, i always miss my shots, i always shoot from too far away, i always get melted, i always suck with shotguns. Even if shotgunning never becomes my favourite thing to do, i would at least like to be able to do well while using one. Can anyone give me advice.
EDIT: Wow, thanks for all the great tips everyone, i haven't had much chance to put everything into practice yet (especially sensitivity as i've only raised it to 6 as i usually play on 4) but in the few matches i have played i've been keeping everything you've all said in mind and it has resulted in an overall improvement of my abilities, i think in the few games i had i managed to get 1 10+ kill streak using strictly my shotgun (granted the enemy was pretty bad) but still that is improvement for me as before i struggled to get a 5 kill streak now i'm getting them a little more frequently. I'm hoping i'll be able to really put this information to use during the iron banner this week.

It's all in the movement, hence why shotgunning is much harder than sniping in Y2c especially more so after the 2.1 nerf too. Focus on your movement more than anything, check through your post replies for anyone giving advice on that.

Sprint Slide Point Shoot Follow-up melee when necessary That's literally it. Blink, Shadestep, or TG optional, but keep in mind the delay after Blink and Shadestep.

You must train in the art from a very young age. When the time comes you will be sent very far away. You will find a monk on the top of a high mountain. This monk will deem if you are worthy. If the monk finds you worthy, he will challenge you to three test. A test of mind. A test of strength. A test of will. If you pass all the test, the monk will present you with a scroll. The scroll contains the secret to be a master shotgunner. Good luck.

25 RespuestasIt's called it takes alot of practice now and map knowledge

2 RespuestasYou would be good with a shotgun if fusion rifles were not so OP
-
Pick one shotgun and learn the exact range, rof, and impact. Always stay mobile but don't put yourself in a bad spot. Always follow up with a melee and either jump or slide when rushing.
-
Turn your look speed up to 10. Jump, a lot. Come down on their head. If coming around corners, slide shoot if on the offensive. On defensive, aim low and back up. Have a nade ready for when your to far and getting melted by OP weapon ;)

10ft... point..... shoot...

Positioning, y1 you could get away running around with shotgun only and do good. Y2 nerfs happened and now how you play and move in a situation with your shotgun plays a more important role. For example on pantheon running on the long hallway with a shotgun won't work, but playing towards mid and more in the tight areas will work.
-
Entirely about learning their range and timing the shot
-
Just wait for the right opportunity. When it comes try to get as close as possible and always aim down the sights. Play smart, don't just rush them thinking you'll get the kill. I mostly just use my primary and when somebody gets to close I pull out my shotgun BOOM
-
Pull the trigger when you see a bit of detail in their helmet.
-
I've had experience shotgunning in other FPS games, so its not much of a change

2 RespuestasPeople think shotgunning is all about running around like an idiot. And yeah that works....on garbage players. A huge thing about shotgunning from my perspective is patience. Dont force shotgun kills. If you trade then there really is no point (This is assuming its 1v1 and no supers are activated and what not). Be patient and use a shotgun in the right situation, remember you have a primary for a reason. Know your shotgun and its capabilities, range impact and all that jazz just comes in experience and time spent using that weapon. Slide - shotgun - melee combo proves to be very effective most of the time. Get in the habit of melee after shot even if they are dead. Dont sprint around corners, you lose 95% of these shotgun v shotgun encounters because you are sprinting. That second that it take you to stop sprinting is all they need to pull the trigger first. Mainly, just be smart, dont play like an idiot. Smart players are the best players.

1 Respuestai agree, how are you supposed to get shot gun kills when everyone one is using fusion rifles
-
Well first off the weapon can make or break your streak. Something along the lines of high impact low RoF and high range does the trick. Conspiracy theory D fits this category too well as you will see everyone and their cousins using it. Second it's gonna take a helluva lot of trial and error before you get used to the feel of the weapon (although some players have been known to jump right into it) so learning exactly how far away you can kill someone from will become second nature to the point you don't even have to think about it
-
This is why i wish they had private matches that way you could practice with weapons you don't normally use against real people and not have it full of hot heads trying to boost their KD.
-
You've got to take the risk of getting up close and personal. Certain maps favour shotgun tactics as well. The drifter for example is a good map as it's filled with narrow corridors.
-
1 RespuestaPractice with Chaperone as it forces you to get headshots for kills at the reward of longer distance. Gives you good skill at aiming up close and once you get alright with it the other shotguns are easy. Or get invective and hold down the trigger until they die
-
2 RespuestasWarlock shotgun. Shadestep shotgun. As far as using a titan and a shotgun you'll have to ask someone else I haven't mastered that.
-
What class/shotgun
-
High sensitivity for rapid corner maneuvering, but raise your sensitivity gradually. When you're using a shotgun remember that wide open spaces, long corridors and places with high vantage points are your enemy, whereas winding corridors are your best friend, as well as places with a lot of corners. Speaking of corners, check those corners aiming at around the waist. If another shotgunner is camping, you'll have a shot at putting them down. Lastly, keep moving.

1 RespuestaI hate shotgun users since the old halo days
-
You have to be thinking 2 moves ahead with a shotgun. Once you can do that successfully then you can run around with a shotgun easily. Just remember to stay low and always keep moving. Serpentine patterns since snipers have so much damn aim assist. And also learn the sniper lanes on maps and avoid at all costs.
-
Raise your sensitivity. Learn to jump slide. If you're a hunter the best way is to jump as high as you can and as you're coming down scope in on the top of their head it's almost always a 1 shot kill unless you're retarded and fire too early
