Dsclaimer: This is not referring to games that you, as an individual, simply don't care to play.
I'm talking about when a developer or franchise with a bad reputation, deserved or not, releases a new title.
Do you give that new title a fair shake?
Or do you dismiss it outright?
I see many gamers only give it the time of day if the new title is utterly mind blowing. Only then do these gamers overlook past mistakes.
But is that really fair to the individuals who worked on fixing the mistakes of the past? Making a stellar game is a Monumental task. If the new title falls short of this, does that mean it's automatically garbage like the previous entries?
For other gamers even if the new title is excellent I see them focus on the flaws and similarities to past entries rather then acknowledging the improvements and changes that have been implemented.
Just something that's been gnawing at me lately.

1 RespuestaI tend to stay away from anything Ubisoft now
-
1 RespuestaQuite surprised that the first option is leading.. After Battlefront, DICE will never see another dollar coming out of my wallet again.
-
I don't buy anything from Gearbox because of Colonial Marines. Try not to buy anything from Konami because #FucKonami.
-
Bungie and that sorry excuse of a game called "destiny". I lost all faith in that company, never buying anything else they have to offer (which honestly isn't very much lmao).
-
343 and halo. Made the mistake of h4, and made an even bigger mistake of buying h5 when I got my x1
-
1 RespuestaI wait for reviews of games that i'm not sure about.
-
2 RespuestasI treat each game differently Everyone hates brink It's REALLY fun with friends actually
-
If a new game is announced, I'll look into it and see if it appeals to me. There are some developers I'm skeptical of, but I won't outright dismiss them until I get a good look at the game.
-
1 RespuestaI'm not a huge fan of Ubisoft, however I'm really picky when it comes to games, so usually I look at games and think "will I play this for an hour + without getting bored?" And if I say no then I don't get it.
-
No I treat each game the same. If I see gameplay of it and it looks cool to me, I'm getting it. I don't care who developed it. Now that's not to say I don't get a little worried when I see the name Activision in the intro, but I still give the game a chance. I try to stay cautiously optimistic

2 RespuestasAbout half of the people who voted no are liars.
-
1 RespuestaYep I refuse to buy anything from Bethesda games. I played two of their major titles and hated them to the point I couldn't play it for more than an hour. Bungie has now earned my ire and so has Ubisoft. I probably will pick up most games by bioware though, those guys can make games.
-
1 RespuestaEditado por Lady Masque: 3/6/2016 4:44:09 PMActivision, and all it's COD devs, I steer clear from. Bungie I'm willing to give a chance if they launch a Destiny 2 beta and demo, so I can check it out myself. I'm careful about EA, but I always love Dragon Age and Mass Effect.
-
EA and Activision are the 2 I try to steer clear of but I do make exceptions everyone and then
-
1 RespuestaI tend to give the benefit of doubt to devs (its the publishers tht hold my main concern)... Tht being said, I do my homework on a game before I buy it. I'm not afraid of buying a game day one, but I don't go crying if I don't enjoy it. I can live with my own decisions. Currently I have regained faith in Ubisoft. They Definitely seem to be moving forward and doing it in a way tht I appreciate. EA, Activision, Bethesda and Konami are currently on my shit list. I wasn't to impressed with their recent titles and how they are handling them. Doesn't mean I won't buy their games, just means I do a lil more research before hand.
-
1 RespuestaI think Ubisoft overall is pretty shite lately but I love Siege and the Division is pretty good. Must be just Tom Clancy games.
-
4 Respuestas57% of you are stone cold liars
-
2 RespuestasModeration.
-
3 RespuestasReally think twice before giving money to EA or Actvision
-
1 RespuestaI have my own hitlist.
-
1 RespuestaI think all art can stand independent from its creators.
-
2 RespuestasIf I like a game, I play it. I usually don't pay attention to who makes it. Having said that, I usually don't care much for 'indie' games or whatever. They're just not really my style
-
1 RespuestaNo, some just don't interest me
-
2 RespuestasI'm pretty pissed off at Konami and I refuse to play anything by them until they right the wrongs with kojima and make the silent hills game. If kojima makes it with del Toro I'll be happy but screw Konami for sure.
-
10 RespuestasIf a game developer consistently does bad, than I tend to avoid them. 343 for example, failed with Halo 4, then follows up with the catastrophe that is MCC. After Halo 5 I will likely not be buying a Halo game until well after launch, as it currently seems that's the only way to get the full game. I used to really enjoy the Farcry games, but after Farcry 4 was an exact copy of Farcry 3, I realized that the thing that made the Farcry games so good, the fact that each one was so different from the last, was gone. That's why I'm avoiding Primal. So I definitely have a bias against developers who tarnish their own names.

I will always wait until the game has come out.
