This link may point you in the right direction or give you some answers on how to diminish latency or "lag": https://www.bungie.net/7_What-causes-lag-and-disconnects---Latency--Packet-/en/Help/Troubleshoot?oid=13603

I appreciate you trying to help but that doesn't explain anything. I understand the latency issues I get and about packet loss. What I want to know is WHY (wanted to put that in italics but couldn't so I'm not yelling at you) it's happening. But thanks anyway

Are you playing on a Wi-Fi or wired connection?
-
It's wired, ethernet cable was designed so that my xbox gets its own seperate connection from the rest of the house
-
Cool. What are your up/down speeds at typically? You may be also having some network congestion (even though you have your own separate connection). When has this issue first started?
-
About 4-5mgb up and about 2mgb down (I think that's what you're asking), and the first issue was last week during iron banner
About 4-5mgb up and about 2mgb down (I think that's what you're asking), and the first issue was last week during iron banner
There is your problem right there. In order to have a stable connection to play without errors, your PS3/PS4/X360/XB1 has to have a stable enough connection to be the host for up to 11 other people (if you are in a 6v6 PvP match). This is why Destiny is unlike any other game out there right now using PEER-TO-PEER networking servers. To play a game like Destiny, you really need to take time configuring your entire connection properly, have your console connected via a WIRED (read: not WIRELESS) connection preferably directly to your modem, have a quality internet service (bare and I mean bare minimum should be 20 mbps downstream and 5 mbps upstream - though a 30/10 connection would give you much better results), you have to configure your router by port forwarding and DMZ assigning and also there are some minor areas in the console itself you have to tweak.

It is wired, but thanks for the info
-
Okay. Have you tried removing all other devices from your network while your playing to see if that helps?
-
Tried it once, it did make a difference but i have a younger brother and sister that use the interent a lot (which is why i got an ethernet cable) so I can't really tell them to turn off so that I can play for a couple hours. Seriously, thanks for your help and speedy replies, makes the comunity look better :)

Thanks. You may want to call your service provider to see if they can help you as well or see if they notice any irregularities with your network connection.
