Will you fall for it?
Edit: I'm just gonna say the majority fell for it.

I am determined for this to equal 100.
-
Editado por SergioTheSlayer: 3/3/2016 1:57:51 PMIt all depends on how we are meant to take that. I've had teachers treat that as -(10)^2 and (-10)^2 so I am not sure which train of logic you know to be right. It should be -100 but it all depends on those technicalities.
-
It is 100 regardless of if the 10 is negative or not because a beget alive times a negative is positive
-
1 RespuestaI still don't quite get it. When you have an equation like x^2=100, why do they always teach 10 or -10? Wouldn't it only be 10? Also, -10 is it's own number right? So why would you multiply it by -1?

2 RespuestasEditado por kyuss534: 3/2/2016 11:27:46 PMDepends if you have parenthesis around -10. Since there are no parenthesis the answer is -100.

I don't know shit about Math. ._.

23 Respuestasits 100, if you say it's not, you need to stay in math class.

Surely the majority will pick -100.
I'm not even good at math bro :(
-100 Order of Operations says you gotta times the 10 by itself before putting the - next to it because there ain't no parentheses locking the - in with the integer being times by itself. If there was parentheses around the -10 then the answer be 100 because then you would times two negative integers by themselves and that would make it positive.
-
Unless it's -(10)^2 The answer is 100 -10^2 = 100.

4 Respuestas-10 doesnt mean 10×(-1) Its means the number -10 Soooo its 100
-
5 Respuestas-10^2 = -10 * -10 = 100 (negative * negative = positive) However -(10^2) = -(100) = -100 Since you didn't put any brackets, it's 100.
Before OP changes his post and kids come and tell me I'm wrong, when I posted this, OP's post asked what is -10^2
4 RespuestasI see a lot of insecure people here thinking just because they know the correct answer, and someone else who doesn't. They think they have the right to call others idiots/dumb asses. Get a grip of reality and remember no one is perfect. So stop stroking your broken egos.
rant over
4 RespuestasThe equation is written very ambiguously so either option is actually viable. You need to clarify how it's written because negative ten is in fact it's own number, however the equation can also be interpreted as -1(10^2). Calling people stupid or telling them they are wrong because you didn't create a proper equation is just silly.
