I love doing this. Due to the amount of BladeDancers in Iron Banner, it's so fun to lure them in with their Arc Blade, activate Hammer of Sol, and watch them get vaporized by your Animation Clank sound (Edit: that intializes a small explosive burst) RIGHT AS they're in front of you. This works with other enemies as well.
Warlocks with Overshield are greatly damaged but cannot be killed with this tactic. But hey, afterwards, that's what our hammers are for...

Normal Phalanx walls can be broken and destroyed upon activation of the HoS animation equipped w/ Scorched Earth. (It's a gamble when used against Fleet Phalanxes due to their increased health.)

It can be used on a horde of enemies if cornered, trapped, or surrounded.
Just equip Scorched Earth with Fire Keeper and the Sunspot blast from activating HoS will blow up anyone in your face. It's blast radius is little to none so they have to be within striking melee distance and it is important that you do not do this whilst airborne, otherwise it will not work.
It's a great idea but quite risky due to this idea only being sufficient during close combat, but.....
*sighhhhh* it's so fun and awesome if you pull it off perfectly... Lol
Edit: Due to popular belief and testing in PvP, it has been revealed that it is an instant kill if the enemy player has taken little damage beforehand. With full health and half a shield, they die. Any more than that and the enemy player will survive. At least until you've successfully killed them with a hammer afterwards. It's a lot more sufficient in PvE though.
Overall, this is a "mini-version landfall attack". It's more defensive than it is offensive, but in the midst of attempting this, you're either able to successfully execute it and live due to your Fire Keeper perk, but without it, you'll be as good as dead.
Fire Keeper: Create sunspots anywhere your HoS hits, (this includes the activation of HoS with Scorched Earth) and you also gain a protective Overshield while standing in a sunspot which can make HoS last longer.
Edit: There have been different situations testing this, considering the comments on this thread. So down to the final question:
How much health does an enemy player have after becoming the victim to this, guys? (BladeDancers are easy prey but it seems a little farfetched to think that a Arc Blader can be killed more easily than that of a normal Guardian...)
Edit: I think there are some of those here whom don't understand what I'm getting at. I'm talking about the explosive burst of fire dealing damaging blows right as the *Clank* of your super occurs. Not the burning of the sunspot upon activation. Although the Sunspot burns people too close to you, I'm not talking about that.
......Too much editing...... >_<

No need for that when 1 hammer kills them and they have to melee you twice.

7 RespuestasBladedancers are the weakest and most pathetic subclass that has been needed into oblivion. I really don't understand why people use them. I don't use the super in PvP matches anymore because there's almost no point. Bladedancers need more shield. Do people forget that you need to get into melee range to get kills with it. Or people can just float away and not get killed. Buff bladedancer to where its actually profitable to use the super. Not overpowered like it had been before. Just enough so there's a purpose to use it.

Yup. Just discovered this yesterday after I tried to give a hug to a Thor while I was made of lightning knives.

12 RespuestasAs soon as a Hunter reads this they'll yell it's broken op and needs a nerf

i was bladedancing and a titan tried that against me when i got close to him and it did not work and he got sliced pretty quick.

As soon as bungie sees this they'll nerf fusion rifles

2 RespuestasSooo its basically a solar landfall with shorter range?
-
You need to clarify that it's Scorched Earth that creates a Sunspot upon HoS activation. That's all it is. Firekeeper just grants you the Overshield with Sunspot but that's independent of the what's happening with the initial Sunspot. It's all Scorched Earth.

Video?! I wanna see!

9 RespuestasAnd people complain about landfall? Sounds similar to me.
-
3 RespuestasJust tried it. The initial activation does no damage, but the sunspot can burn people if they are weak.

Ya it's happened to me when I had low health it was completely retarded

Editado por Ebelski: 2/25/2016 8:08:04 PMYou've seen a bladedancer? That's more rare than a defender. Edited auto incorrect.
