So, a the title says^^^
What idiot decided that walking around the moon/mars/earth for hours and hours, in circles searching for materials was a good idea?
I never complain about the crucible balance, because I realise it is hard to do. But this is just plain stupid. It literally makes you hate destiny while you are doing it.
To make matters worse, the based it on RNG!!!!! At least if say,1/10 materials dropped the rare one you want, you could see progress and how close to finishing you are, but for f*cks sake don't let one player do it in 10 minutes and another it take 3 hours. This quest design single handedly makes me wonder about the competence of some people at bungie
I've already done the void sword and I got pretty lucky, I did it in around an hour.
But I just did the solar one for 45 minutes and I've got 2/10!!!!!
Please remove this quest step. Thanks

Move in and out of a zone until the resource nodes are close together. Collect the nodes Immediately leave the zone and comeback as soon as you see the name change. The resource nodes will be in the same place and refreshed. Collect them again and repeat. I did both raze lighter and void drinker in an hour and twenty mins back to back this way The only time this doesn't work is when it occasionally drops you in an instanced zone that has another player instead of your old zone.

5 RespuestasArc sword took me about 2 hours. Split it into two days. Void sword took me about 45 min. Best spot to farm is near that train station place on Mars. Solar sword took me 4-5 damn hours. Lost count of how many public events I completed in the process.

The same guy who made us upgrade legendary weapons in y1.
-
2 Respuestas3 swords, 4 hrs. Seems legit. But I played FFXI and play FFXIV where epic weapons can take 1 or 2 months up to 2 years to get. so 4 hrs for epic weapons is insanely fast for me.
-
Well many people have done it and pretty sure they didn't complain on the forums about it. JUST DO IT!
-
Welcome to a throwback to y1

I love farming. After running that part of all 3 sword quests, I'm set up with every mat but spirit bloom and wormspore until Destiny 2. Not spending marks on mats... Bullshit. Farm! Farm! Farm!
-
Yes please game needs to be easier in all aspects
-
You must be a year two player, all us year one players have very bad memories of farming materials at all planets just to rank up gear.
-
What's more depressing is trying to do the sword quest with randoms (mistake already), and they kill all the knights, even when Darkblade is at half health.
-
1 Respuestait took me about 45 minutes to be honest. if u r quick enough, after u open a chest with one of the pieces, get your ass to the edge of another area- a name of the new area will pop up in white, then haul it right back to the same chest, I doubled up twice turning 2 chests into 4
-
2 Respuestas...you know you could just buy the materials for 10 legendary marks...
-
Equip a ghost that spots the materials you seek. I did two material grabs in one day using the proper GHOST. YOU MAKE IT
-
The hardest part is finding people who actually know how to do the damn strike
-
4 RespuestasLOL... You must not have been around in year 1.

Agreed. Once they patched the material nodes so you couldn't zone hop, the annoyance level rose +99. It's just messed up because they gave us the ability to buy materials because people complained so much about having to farm for them. This was just a big F-U to us, "HA! You thought farming for 30-60 mats for a weapon was bad... try RNGing them at a 5-10% clip for just a mere 10! HAHA!"
-
I found a spot in the shores on earth that had two spin metal right next to the staircase down into Rasputin. I got them, went down the stairs, went up the stairs and they respawned ;)
-
They just wanted to make us farm again like back in vanilla destiny. Your argument is not valid unless you were here before you could buy spinmetal helium filaments spirit blooms and relic iron from the vanguard. If you were not here for that I will fill you in: 1. Every upgrade on a weapon or armor required 16 of the given material to upgrade only 1 node. 2. Every piece of armor or weapon had at least 3-4 more nodes than they do now. 3. Most dedicated players like myself had to farm at least an hour a day for just the materials to upgrade the gear let alone shards and energy. And if you were here then it shouldn't be that hard to go back on the same farming routes you did before.
-
Watching team mates repeatedly kill the wardens in the final strike is far more depressing. Enjoy the current levity while you can.
-
choose two zones. Just go in one big circle with the ghost detector perk, go to the next zone and repeat, back and forth between those 2. If you dont detect anything, chances are someone is farming that area which should be more rare by now. Either head to a 3rd zone and then go back to your usual 2 or back to orbit and launch again. Never takes me more than and hr and a half or less.

Must be a year two player. Back in my day we had to grind for resources
-
I quite liked that part. Just chillin and collecting shit. Good times

Dude, I know it's a little frustrating, but this is nothing compared to some of the Y1 exotic weapon bounties (Im looking at you, Thorn) Yes, this quest step is time consuming, but farming the moon is pretty easy (I've done all 3 exotic sword quests, and I found Mars to be the most difficult of them, and even then it only took about an hour longer). Plus, the exotic swords are worth the effort.
-
Seriously? This is what people bitch about now? Honestly i thought you were gonna cry about the ability kills, but this? Seriously? Put some music in the background, grab a couple of friends and chat while farming for the Soliton Flares Just because you don't like working for an exotic doesn't mean anything will change. You're gonna work for that exotic sword just like everyone else did
