110 RespuestasEditado por ComicAphid90936: 12/2/2015 3:44:30 PMYes, but our civilisation can't advance culturally while we still believe in the supernatural. Is we sit around praying to God for all of our lives, we waste valuable time, that could be used for work or hobbies. Edit: religion was created for the time when people had no other option. If your religious, you're an ignorant person. The difference between science and religion is that religion is stubborn, and tries to adapt to science, whereas science is flexible, and scientists accept we don't know everything. There is a reason religion adapts to science. It's because science comes with evidence. Religion doesn't Edit 2 : if your Christian, and you go to church for 2 hours every week, you loose 104ish hours every year to church. Say you live 100 years, and you do this routine every week of your life, you loose 10400 hours to church. That's 433 days. What could you do with 433 days? Edit 3: omfg so many stupid salty Christians who think the bible is gods word and think that proven things, like dinosaurs, never happened. How stupid. You have a book. A single book. Written by 5 people. The only credibility about that storybook is that jesus definately existed. It's sad how a majority of the population, a majority that, at the moment, is falling, believes in a storybook. Well done world Edit 4: a complete utopia won't exist, one man's utopia is another man's distopia Edit 5: not hating anymore or looking for salt, but Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Hindu religions are all scientific theories (mixed with some helpful advice) that are based on no evidence. Where is your proof of God making the earth in 7 days? Except the bible, but the bible doesn't count because it could have been forged. There is none. Isaac newton came up with a rule: he said if somthing can be proved otherwise, God is not a relevant cause. We have no situations where God is the only relevant cause ATM.

Perfection within itself is quite the impossible feat to achieve as it varies across circumstances and situational variables. Perfection depends on perspective. (It is subjective) If you really want to find your answer, I suggest understanding the concept of pure perfection. Based upon the situation you've given, I'd say it is impossible. Based upon human nature and the fundamental way society works. For every win there is a loss. This idea alone rather is able to detour any possibility of perfection.

64 RespuestasEditado por PunkyBrockster7: 11/28/2015 3:08:31 AMNope Atheists are evil bastards that are too stupid to live and should be wiped off the face of the Earth. You know what you guys have swayed me. Yep no God. So why don't I just start killing neighbors and people at work I don't like. I could probably start cheating on my wife too. While I'm at it I'll just beat up some kids and elderly people, maybe the handicapped too. I mean if there's no God then what am I doing trying to be a decent human being. Screw morality if there's no God then there's no final judgment. So let's just go Thunderdome up in here. I mean sure I might get arrested but three square meals a day, cable TV, exercise and all the books I can read. Sounds pretty sweet to me.

Why is the assumption that people who practice religion can't be freethinkers?

6 RespuestasROTFLMAO! XD People Just Like You! Would be Dead or Tortured and Played with until you became useless, and Then dead. The Only thing that gives people Like You Any life expectancy at All is Laws and Religion. And Most Laws are Based on Religion! Like laws that say Killing is Bad. If their's no god and no consequences then killing you would be like stepping on a bug! Your Life is Meaningless! So yeah, let's just all Squash each other like Bugs. See how far That gets ya. I can recall Several times in history where people were considered worthless due to lack of laws and consequences for actions. Your lucky to be Existing right now.

I think want and greed would out weigh humans need for utopia we inherently destroy anything which will bring gain to our lives I mean we live on earth and destroy it for personnel gain. Religion which is technically supposed to bring us together is currently tearing us apart because of different views of life. It's kind of sad when you think about it.
-
The world could be a better place, but a good first step would be for people to stop killing each other over religious differences. Believing different things (in terms of religion) is okay. What's not okay, is the belief that it's okay to kill someone over these differences. This is a critical first step the world needs to make. Tolerance of others, even if they disagree. The golden rule is also a good guideline, free from religion.

Nope, people will be people... basically human nature is what prevents utopia not religion.
-
Conflict is an inherent quality of the human race. We would find something to blow each other up over I'm positive.
-
If you're asking if we eliminated religion tomorrow if there'd be a utopia, no, I don't think so. There's other things with far larger negative effects on our society.
-
2 RespuestasThe world would be chaos without religion. It's not any religion itself, though that's hard for me to say being a Christian. It's the good people with kind, loving hearts and conviction of character that drive back the evil in the night!
-
19 RespuestasNo Christianity=smarter society No Islam=no terrorists No Judaism=less greedy corporate pigs Not saying we would have a Utopia but the world would certainly be better

5 RespuestasIf there was no religion we would be more peaceful. Animals dont make wars. Coincidence?
-
Gathering facts and whatnot, if religion didn't exist we would be so much more advanced, the Dark Ages likely wouldn't have happened.
-
Neither bro this isn't a hard question . Instead of going as big as the world let's start with say your own classroom of like 10-30 kids or w.e. Did u like everyone?! Or better yet , did everyone like everyone?! As humans we automatically dislike others that threaten our interests ; whatever they may be. No lack of or supreme reign of religion or any other social behaviour modification will change this.

1 RespuestaThere has been a scientific link between compassion and religion.
-
2 RespuestasNo. It will never exist. Human nature won't let it. People strive to be better than their contemporaries, whether that be through religion, education, sexual conquests or any number of other excuses. Take away religion and it moves on to some other issue. It's all the same, just easy to put a nice bow on religion and call that the problem.
-
2 RespuestasHonestly yes. Religion imo is false hope something people come up with in order to have something to look forward to and trust in blindly. Many times in history, people have been massacred just based on what God they chose to believe in even destiny shows that with oryx vs the traveler. If it were removed that would be less conflict between some differences.
-
Why would ask atheists if religion is required? ALSO, THIS IS A FREAKING VIDEO GAME FORUM! WHY WOULD YOU BRING RELIGION TO A VIDEO GAME FORUM? But, hey. I am an atheist.
-
Atheist here, But everyone should have a choice. Is choosing not to believe a religion of sorts?
-
We aren't far enough removed from primates for a utopia.

Y'see.... This is why people hate Athests! Using it for attention? Really?
