So in a new kotaku article (video game website).
They interviewed members of Bungie's staff anonymously (because Bungie would fire them or fine them) and the members reveal that Vanilla Destiny,The Dark Below,House of Wolves & The Taken King were supposed to be one game but Bungie went and sold it separately so "the story could sound better".
Should we thank Bungie or boycott future products?
How do you feel about knowing this now?
If you want to know where you can find out if this is true in more detail.
Go to youtube and type in: BDobbinsFTW
and look for the video entitled . . .
Destiny the Taken King cut from year one content.
Enjoy.
It got 7,000 likes with only 343dislikes.

1 RespuestaWhile I feel bad we over paid for the original game and the TDB & HoW updates, I really feel stupid for buying TTK. I am absolutely a fool for believing TTK would fix issues with the game such as RNG 1.0 versus what was promised with RNG 2.0. Bottom line, while Bungie & Activision may feel as though they pulled one over on the player base and scraped in a lot of cash, that short term thinking is gonna cost them long term. I will not be buying any more Destiny updates.

People have found dlc areas in the beta its not something new they are hungry for money

These posts are so dumb. It's like people don't understand that stuff goes down in value over time

I could go down to the closest video game store and purchase a brand new game for $60. Or, I could pick up a game that has been out for a year for $10. Oh, the game also had some expansions? They're kind of old too? $10 for both? I guess I'll pick those up too. They just released a new expansion? $40? Count me in! Pretty much all video games are like this. Have you seriously not noticed this? Better games will keep their value longer and not drop as low. Better games will hold on to their value longer, but will still come down. Brand new things cost more. When LED TVs first came out they were thousands of dollers. Now you can pick one up for a couple hundred. Look at the price of the XB1 and PS4 at launch vs the cost to purchase one now. I spent $600 on my 360 because I wanted one launch day. I can pick one up for $100 now. I'm not seeing the problem with what Bungie did. Not seeing it at all.

1 RespuestaIt continues to amaze me that some people actually believe that there was some kind of complete game back in 2013. One that they sliced up and resold to us bit by bit. The game wasn't done then and it wasn't done in 2014. The Dreadnought wasn't even a thing in 2013 outside of concept art and Saturn skybox. Yes, they had some assets set up for what the game was originally going to be, but that changed log before release and those unused assets sat in the data until they were largely replaced with the previous expansions. If you really wanna go spinmetal hat, supposedly that leaked PowerPoint slide was from 2012. So clearly they were never going to give you a complete game to begin with, just a series of "to be continued" endings with each expansion. Is the game perfect? No. Does it still need lots of work? Yes. Is it a vast corporate conspiracy to rob you? No, you're thinking of Disney Infinity and Skylanders.

Makes sense. But one thing is having a finalized, bug free, cohesive, story driven content and having a vanilla (pun intended) enviorment. I think they could have pushed PoE and ToO with TDB or with vanilla, but the game would have been so broken. Its been great so far. Me personally I dont care for collecting exotics or raid gear. Played through content and it was worth the money. People get to worked, as i did. I think there is an addiction people developed.

5 RespuestasThe Taken King title wasn't even trade marked until January or February this year. The article stated parts of the Taken King were created. They did not have a final product ready by then. As for being "cheated", that's pretty false. There is such a thing called depreciation. The value of an item decreases as it ages. It happens to cars. Are dealers screwing their customers when the value of a car decreases by a couple thousand dollars just for driving it off the lot? No. The value of year one Destiny wasn't as good any more. That's all there is to it. As for the Dark Below and House of Wolves, there's a reason we didn't get both of them immediately. They weren't completed yet, and wanted to make changes based on player feedback of the vanilla game. Whiners. Whiners everywhere.
