Seems really unfair to me. Instead of maybe improving the matchmaking or something bungie takes the easy route and listen to the crybabies. Many of these people may have been playing fair but their connection may take a dip every once in a while, then they get banned. This is the first game I have heard of that bans players not for cheating, but for not buying better internet. Halo never did that, and bungie made halo...
I know a few of my friends have had internet problem, now I won't be able to play with them in crucible because they'll get banned. To me, this seem really unfair.
edit:
So many people are happy about these bans. I am disgusted to be a part of this community, to make these unfair bans rather than just find a way to solve it with maybe matchmaking or dedicated servers. People payed as much as for their current internet provider which could be limited in some areas, payed for the expansions to continue playing, and then get banned from part of the game for simply have poor internet. Not great with advertising either:
"Come play Destiny, we ban players with poor internet!"
Even if you don't like having to play against someone with poor internet, remember there could have been another solution, but no you immediately cry to ban them, heartless. Instead of focusing on bans, bungie should have focused on better matchmaking in my opinion.

If you are super laggy it should just kick you back to orbit. Completely locking someone out of the content is unethical. They paid for it so they should at least have access. Edit: there has to be a better solution. I can't think of any other AAA title that uses this practice.

3 RespuestasEditado por HartLessSkotF8n: 10/18/2015 6:43:33 PMI definitely und3rstand the frustration on the part of guardians who are counting on a teammate that is then booted from the system, I really do. I have actually QUIT running raids, etc...due to this VERY REASON! I dont want to screw-over my fellow team-mates/Guardians, since I can ALMOST NEVER complete the task w/out getting booted! Actually, I can usually only get 1 to maybe 3 tasks completed on the damn "Patrol xyz" before getting booted...But what I would like to ask DeeJ & Bungiee is...what do you plan to do with all of us CUSTOMERS who have very high/fast internet speeds/connections?? I have the "Comcast X-1" service...(THE fastest available internet -in North Florida at least...fast for the U.S. market, that is...[Google "Internet South Korea" if you want to know just HOW BAD we are all getting screwed by Comcast, et al])....I can play all 60 of my other online games, such as Titanfall (shared World shooter...at least outwardly similar to a NON-Techie) any one of the Call of Duty, Halo franchises, etc etc etc ...and never ONCE get booted from the system... ever that I can recall. So far today I I have logged in 5 times in less than 1 hour since I turned on my Xbox. don't try and tell me that my connection is bad or any of that other BS...(&you trolls out there, before u even START... I don't care to hear "I don't have a problem, so must be YOUR system/whatever"... I know that since YOU have no trouble with the connection?..You think ANYONE who DOES, must be an idiot...I say in advance, " whatever Dude!"....You should count your lucky stars, is all I can tell you...& REMEMBER, Karma--instant or otherwise, is a BITCH!) I ping my system almost daily, since this trouble began (almost a Year ago, I found Destiny, & have pláyed Religiously ever since... and this issue began on MY "Day One" BTW....I am Hardwired to the Gateway, My Download speeds vary slightly, always right around 33 MBs, my Upload speeds are 14-16mbs, packet loss 0%, latency 40-50 milliseconds, (BTW-these are ALL, except the lag, of course) about 5 or 10 times what Bungie recommends as minimums) I can play ANY other game, ALL day long... Can stream THREE high definition movies, on three separate devices in my house, with was never a glitch or a flicker... ONLY issue I ever have a problem maintaining a connection?...Destiny! I have been through Comcast customer support 20 times, X Box Live support, the same...3days ago, and I finally got a tech support guy at X Box Live who must be sick of working there, I guess? Cause, FINALLY I got SOMEONE to stop Bullshitting & tell me what (sounds like, to me) the TRUTH! Which is...that there is a VERY well known issue (known between XBox & Bungie & Comcast, he meant)...HE said that he, & ALL the techs at X Box Live, WISHED TO GOD that Bungie would address/fix WHATEVER their server problems are! because he/they spend untold hours having to bullshit Xbox customers, and hold their hands and walk them through ALL these (so called). "FIX"... fix knowing FULL-WELL, from the get-go, that " the fix" not going to do ONE DAMN THING, to improve their connection to Destiny!!! He said that it appears to him that they MUST have just decided that it's not worth their (Bungie's) time & effort to fix...since this is def NOT "News" to Bungie...I have tried and tried...a hundred times or so, to get SOMEONE, anyone! from Destiny to just tell me what, if anything, I can do...other than quit playing! (which is about the point I am at now...I LOVE this game! There is NO OTHER game that I would EVER even consider wasting THIS much time & effort over!! NONE! & I really cant even believe myself that Ive wasted this much energy-mental & otherwise, trying to FIX IT!)NONE of this has made ANY difference whatsoever I have followed every suggestion, I have tried every single possible fix or work-around recommended on this site, or off! Occam's Razor would NOW suggest?...Destiny server issues!! Now it has gotten even worse since TTK dropped. Instead of getting a simple "Caterpillar, monkey, etc.& and having to press " A" button to login... now 90% of the time, Destiny disconnecs me from my XBOX LIVE connection!! But then, Bungie will not "release me" from their system, so I can reconnect to X-Box Live! (as I said, I'm not a tech dude... this is just how it appears to me from a THOUSAND times of doing this) Now, when I get disconnected from xbox live...I have to press "B" (to close the warning message)...THREE TIMES! back & forth A, B; A, B; ONLY then can I RE-Log into Xbox Live & then ditto for Destiny!! So I have gone from a 2 minute process to log back in (caterpillar) to a 4 minute process to log back in! I have now decided that THE QUICKEST way, for me to "Get back IN"?... Is that, the moment I get the " Attention" or "Loading" (buffering?)...I just hit POWER button, & do a Hard-Restart!! I've never seen a company THIS SIZE, that apparently does not even HAVE a customer support department!? Activision has made and sold how many games? I'm sure I have at least 10, and I don't even play sports games! I'm at the end of my rope with bungie I really hoped the v 2.0 TTK k and then especially 2.1 update was going to address this issue. I guess they did address the issues, just not in the way I had hoped. Now they are much worse than before! Which I did not think was possible!

2 RespuestasAgreed, and to the people saying "get better internet", what are these people to do when they have the best they can get in the area they live in? Be locked out of something they like you paid for? The real culprit here is Bungie for not stepping up and making better servers such as player to player, where it matches you based on location.
-
how about put all the red bars in one game so they can have a lagtastic time!
-
If you're a redbar because you have lousy hardware or line noise or whatever, then you shouldn't receive a ban, so much as be restricted to matchmaking with other redbars only, until the situation resolves itself. Same thing if their internet speed isn't supported as advertised in the game's system requirements. It says "requires a broadband connection to play". The FCC currently defines broadband as minimum 25 Mbps down/3 Mbps up. If someone ignored this when they purchased the game, it's their own damn fault. This way, everybody still gets to play, without quality of service issues having causing an unfair advantage between redbars and greenbars.
-
2 RespuestasI have 50 mb fibre optic broadband and my connection in Destiny goes from great to utter shit all the time. In fact it's been abysmal ever since TTK dropped, to the point where PvP is now unplayable. Black Ops 3 will hopefully have far superior servers.
-
Why not just have dedicated Crucible servers?
-
I'm literally gonna spam the report button because I know most people will do this to. Oh I died and I shouldn't have... Report laggy.... Or he fist of panicked me and I didn't see him coming must be connection, report! It will literally be like this in crucible from now on. Such a bad way for bungie to sort the server issue, which is there servers that are terrible in the first place.
-
1 RespuestaBanning is completely unfair but they should 100% be kicked to orbit after hitting a threshold (like 400 ping).
-
I'm having a hard time believing that they couldn't come up with a better solution than banning people outright over their connection, but apparently they feel there are enough people out there legitimately manipulating their connection that the number of people that may be banned simply due to poor overall internet quality is basically nil. This is a pretty serious fallacy on their part, but you should keep in mind that were talking about the same company that blamed its users for poor netcode following the initial launch. In their minds, there's nothing wrong with their servers or the code used to communicate with them. It's all our fault everyone has yellow / red connections. According to them, we're all just filthy cheaters and badkid scrublords, riding our lagswitches to victory. This whole attitude is why I am so hesitant to spend money on anything they produce, and why I generally refuse to play their broken PvP content. Unfortunately for me, like alot of people here, I continue to be a victim of their unstoppable juggernaut-like hype machine. They keep finding ways to drag me back in and disappoint me all over again. :/

Editado por Fibby: 10/19/2015 5:34:30 PMBetter matchmaking is needed, with or without the temporary restrictions that they are applying. The game tries to match you by skill in regular crucible (or in other words by stats), and when ToO comes back they will try to match you with a team that has an equal amount of wins (again, something other than connection/region as a factor). We've already seen that their efforts to match by skill does not work, otherwise there wouldn't be so many lagging players in the games we get put into. Matching by region/connection (and actually making a good job with that) would help a lot. Skill based matchmaking is just stupid because in the end it just creates lopsided games even if the intention was to make even ones, since the huge differences in the connection often dictate the outcome.

This brings the idea of community or playing together to a halt. if your fire team leader goes red, others can lag and be banned, you do not get to choose which host p2p server you get placed on and the ping goes through the roof, players who see what looks like lag, teleporting turn out to be the one in red, it is not a connection thing, many have played as issue free as the game allows for a long time, but the last 2 updates has put some always red, some occasionally and some out of the blue mid match, you going to stop mid match to see your red or drop out for fear of ban, it is not a bunch of bad connections by player as it is bungee created problems. Just like when they patch something and it gets woes, this patch for cheaters and match making not taking the increase ping in account has made it worse.
-
Don't worry, plenty of great PvP titles on the horizon with dedicated servers.
-
There are people playing in red doing fine and not banned. I'm not sure but joining clan members and placed beyond ping range of anything normal may have caused mine. I played solo 2 days 2 character to IB rank 3 with no problems, day 3 with clan mates and glitches but guys red on the other team who knows. You can have mediocre or great internet and still get red connection due to ping, server or software (If you see one of those I'm glad your banned, get better internet idiots pop in the thread - just vote them to 0.) We are not talking lagers or cheaters but people who have played a long time or even short time blindsided with an issue. Heck last year varmint ate my outside connection and it let water in and all I got was zoo codes. The problem, besides non dedicated servers, Or Software is.. 1) no Warning, being red connection does not give you supper powers it gets you .29 KD Sometimes you are in the green several games and then out of the blue red but who is going to stop in a battle and check. Before banning legit players with no explanation or recourse A little nudge hey we are seeing a problem.. 2) no feedback, With their so call sophisticated tech they should be able to give you a clue as to what they are seeing, ie latency. Something tangible you can take to your ISP or help forums. I'm not talking about holding their hand but Bungie can say more than your connection is red. 3) no test connection site, you should be able to hop in and see if you have located or fixed the problem. If it is fixed Let them Play If not give some real feedback, An undetermined length of time ban does noting for player or Bungie. For a Game that is network internet Play, Bungie offers no support. When someone has read and done all the list of things to check 2-3 times being referred back step 1 is no help. What is surprising is Some tech at their HQ does not quit and use his skills and tools to help people for a fee. It is hard to fix stupid but maybe not impossible, please vote up.
-
I get an average of 45mbps, yet every so often even I show up as a red bar. I think its the actual servers that are the problem.
-
People with laggy connections should be grouped together to have their very own lagfest. They destroy the experience for other guardians. At this stage everyone has a connection above 2mb. I know there a people who have bad connections, but there are also people manipulating the network and the ocasional idiot downloading torrents or watching porn while they play.
-
Halo Reach gave you a ban if you left to many games in one day. Bad connection would get you kicked from a match. So technically bad-connection-ban have been present in othe Bungie games.
-
If you red bar it should kick and if you are still red it shouldn't let you play any crucible. Those connections ruin the game.
-
They just should be limited to no pvp games
-
Agreed. Just another straw. Bungie and their activision masters disgust me.
-
Editado por Blaqish: 10/19/2015 1:27:36 AMIf your connection is in the red, should just error you out in the matchmaking phase. Say your network connection isn't adequate or something. Banning is overkill. Kicking to orbit still puts their team at a numbers disadvantage.
-
If you go to the Movies, and you have to sit for 2 hours behind the guy who doesn't shower because he has "poor water pressure"?
-
Who is banned for bad connection? No one?
-
We all go through lag spikes once in a while. It just sucks because with the lag spike people associate it with lag switching. Just kick em out
-
Is it fair for people with bad connections to ruin the game for everyone else? And if the get kicked now the team is a man down.
