This game is NOT an MMO. It's a shared-world shooter, so stop giving Bungie excuses for taking away all the exotics we grinded for the past year.
Edit: I bet half of the sheep replying saying that it is an MMO have never actually played an MMO.
English
#Destiny

Stop acting like it doesn't have elements similar to an MMO. And stop crying about exotics being left behind.
-
3 RespuestasIts a shared world shooter...the first of it kind.. If Borderlands was online like Destiny it would blow destiny out of the water because they would do it better
-
I never called it an MMO
-
It's not an mmo but its way of expanding dealing with in game issues and distribution of the game are all how an mmo works.
-
7 RespuestasAn MMO by any other name..... The only reason Bungie does not call it an MMO is so they can be lazy and not have to put in the effort of making a proper MMO , Just One example : why are there so many missing features in a group oriented multiplayer game to even make a group in the game ? Because it is not an MMO it's a shared world shooter, your suppose to have to jump through hoops to make a group in Destiny ,it's a group oriented shared world shooter so of course making a group shouldn't be included in the game , I mean that makes to much sense and is something you can do in MMO's for the last 15 years and this is Not an MMO

Wow beta to wraith... Guild wars 2 lineage 2 rift and aion. Only diffrece between this and those games ive played is guns. Mmo no rpg styled yes
-
8 RespuestasDestiny is massive, it has multiplayer, and it is online. I'm sorry but your argument is invalid and it is a loot driven game so yes the year 1 exotics and everything else should stay in year 1 with the exception of the few they have decided to bring into year 2, 3 of which are mandatory because of xbox.

6 RespuestasEditado por timey: 8/27/2015 9:33:09 PMTrue enough it really isn't. I play ESO (a real MMO) and this is not that. This is more like halo that can be played online and has big missions that require a few extra people. Maybe i should clear this up like nobody below just asked, by big missions i mean 6 people. That's not really big, i refute my self a little there, more like mid sized. 6 isn't massive... Now if it was fire team of 20+ people, id be foolish to not call it massive. But i digress, 6 isn't massive, and not really even big. That's 2 more than a standard 4 person plug in and play game.

It's the "Halo Borderlands of Warcraft: Online"
-
Can someone explain to me why this is an argument?
-
You afraid youll have to play the game some more?
-
2 RespuestasShared world shooter sounds like something corporate would make up to not call it what it is.. A half assed MMO. Never played one before, but, all of my friends that are/were WoW nuts all confirm that Destiny is in fact a half ass MMO.
-
12 RespuestasExperienced MMO player. Sorry, this is a MMO. Gear progression. Open world with random encounters. Raids. Dungeons. PvE, PvP. Multiple classes. Inventory. Social area. A narrative. Quests and quest chains.
-
3 RespuestasIt's an open-world FPS. That's what it's actually considered
-
Cute. Then this game should stop being Massive Multiplayer Online and maybe people would change the words they use.
-
It's a LITE MMO. Calm your tits.
-
SHARED WORLD FPS. MMO means Massive Multiplayer Online. This is distinguished by a large, open, and persistent world. Destiny creeps into that category but falls a bit short. I still refer to Destiny as an MMOFPS at times but it can't truly be compared to something like WoW.
-
6 RespuestasIt most certainly is an MMOFPS. I've played World of Warcraft, and few other mmo's that are out there. And while yes, Destiny is different from WoW in certain aspects; although it shares many characteristics of an MMO. First being the class/ subclass. In Warcraft, there are talent trees, which is in theory the same thing. It gives you customization of your character to make your own play style. And the strikes and raids are just like the dungeons and raids of Warcraft. Then there's the gear aspect that, when a new expansion drops, the older gear isn't as good. I would love to see your evidence as to why Destiny is not an MMO.
-
It is though
-
7 RespuestasThis is an mmofps. I have played mmos since Everquest. Played it for 5 years. Played WoW for 6. I have also played Guild Wars 2, Rifts, DDO, and several others.

2 RespuestasEditado por Hippo_Legacy: 8/26/2015 12:52:51 AMShared world first person shooter role playing game. Aka SWFPSRPG Also it doesn't have to actually be a MMO to use certain aspects from MMOs.
-
5 Respuestasok then. what other shared world shooters can I compare it to?
-
people will try to justify getting shit on when it happens. even if the excuses suck, they try.
-
Good luck with that one. Even thou Bungie admits it's not an MMO people still try. They need to friend me on xbox 1 so we can play Elder Scrolls Online, Never Winter or just plain old WOW. I guess the have no idea what an MMO is.
-
1 RespuestaDestiny is an MMO
-
Don't they call it an "Emergent Shooter-sandbox" or something like that?
